This came in from BG.
http://www.bluegartrls.com/forum/ffxi-advanced-player-discussion/66803-mythic-weapons-discussion-8.html

A player just completed Task and duties and obtained the Statless Tizona weapon. Apparently you do need the T4 ZNM pop items to enter the solo BC where you retain your subjob. The only problem is that at 1%, the player was only doing 0 damage and lost. To make matters worse, you have to re-obtain the T4 ZNM items to enter the BC again. SE really did make these Mythic Weapons a huge challenge and time sink.

LULZ!

Seriously, what a ******* pain in the ***. Its not like we all can sit here and debate how to hit above 0 at the end considering its so damn hard to get to this point. You go in there on your own, no strategy or anything only to be beat and have to get all the ZNM items again.

Thats not a timesink, thats a ******* waste of time.

In before everyone rush to make conspiracy theories on how to finish him.
I say you have to use the nyzul weapon for the last hit, like Brigandish Blade.

Yeah we WILL have to theorize now... Re-obtaining those ZNMT4 pop items will be a hell I dont wish on anyone.

BG has a lot of chatter about this right now, The guy who did it seems to have decent english but to get that far he probably understands a good amount of things. Mainhanded Tizona, did expacion. I dont know what else he tried but a MAJOR kudos for him soloing the zahak hydra before even getting to bahlran.

so... so.. unfortunate

This was a solo battle vs VT mobs at level 75?

Wow, that is vicious and totally unnecessary... I know SE likes to make you go out and obtain all your pop items again for most things, but come on, seriously. There is enough work involved in this quest, and a lot of people put their asses on the line (and passed up a lot of chances at things, most likely) to get the set of pop items to begin with. The LEAST they could do is let you try as many times as you need to be able to beat it.

Congrats to that person for getting that far, at least... Yay Tizona. :D Seeing some of the mythic results from fanfest made me realllly want to see the Tizona in action. Also made me wish I even had the slightest shot at getting one. Maybe they'll be super nice and put mythics as a top rank prize in the next mog bonanza (riiiight)... XD

It was said that the Zahak Hydra depopped at 95%, which is odd because why is it there in the first place. I threw out the idea of the Relief of Zahak key item but nobody seems to know about it.

-spoiler speculation ahoy- about story that is, not fight strategies.

I'm hoping there is a MAJOR story twist for those who know about Zahak. It was said he was serpent king zahak founer of the eastern empire ( perhaps just the western portion, aht urghan ), and possibly the first blue mage ( the only thing is this assumes he gained his powers through shear will rather than being transformed by a far eastern alchemist ) But if Zahak was nothing more than Balrahns personal pet...

It would be neat if: the whole time Zahak was in charge it was actually Balrahn himself. Or perhaps there was some unwavering bond between the two.

EDIT: changed first line

Damn.

Relic weapons are a pain in the *** to get, but at least the key items needed are a group effort. There's as much joy in having 36 people pwn an animated weapon for the rest of the linkshell as there is for the lucky recipient.

The way it sounds, they need to drop the 30K alexandrite requirement down to three hundred to compensate for the rest of the difficulty in obtaining the stupid weapons.

As someone pointed out in the BG thread SE needs to:

Make the quest difficult/time sink and make the final BC easy

or

Make the quest easy and the final BC difficult

Instead they chose to:
Make the quest difficult/time sink and make the final BC difficult.
No balance there at all unless there is some cheap gimmick (Killshot with the Nyzul Weapon, in this case Wightslayer)

What if it's something dumb like having to do /kneel to avoid Odin's one-shotter? Maybe you have to /bow or /salute to win.

I read the rest of that thread... does sound like a pain in the butt. Whatever it is, I hope it's nothing too out of control.

My first thought was the ws, as people mentioned, but apparently he used that. I hope it's not something like you have to stalemate him - get him to 1% and hold out for the rest of your time limit or something. XD I guess he died and it regen'd up to 100% again? That's too bad, really.

He should be proud to just get there at the moment, however. Since he is the first, I am sure they will be working on getting him another set of pop items to try his next idea.
I dunno about needing a wightslayer, though. Seems a little weird. Definitely not dual wield with Tizona as someone said, since that would ***** 2h users... who knows. Maybe the people saying he should save up to 300 tp for the full aftermath charge are right (though that confused me - I thought he said earlier that the guy DIDN'T have access to aftermath on his weapon...).

Very interested to see.

I don't know what is worse, that SE designed this crap so retardedly or that this guy already met all of the requirements.

Then again I guess with enough connections and enough people duping their alexandrite every salvage run, it does seem more likely to happen faster.

Sadly this could be a "trick" deal or it could be a bug. Hopefully it is a bug because fixing it is easier than figuring out SE's retarded tricks.

I'll believe this until the servers shut down:

Either make these weapons accessible to those who are skilled enough and want them or don't release them at all.

People say that S-E wants few of these weapons to be in possession. I say they need to be concerned about fewer people even bothering to try.

The funny thing is, I recall reading in one of the SE interviews that they intended for Mythic weapons to be MORE accessible to the average player than the Relic weapons.

But then, we already knew that "logic" is a four letter word at Square-Enix.

#25 Dec 10 2008 at 10:06 AM Rating: Decent
eh this is a stupid thing, but this post made me think of it. What if the statless tizona was needed to strike the final blow, and you need the nyzul weapons to skip the forms of pandy warden? Each form have a different job, and needing to be struck by the nyzul weapon of the corresponding one to nullify it?

That out of the way, yeah a big wtf. You should be able to retry the battle with some form of time limit, needing znm pops again is stupid. and making the mob take 0 damage is stupid, its like SE puts content in for people never to defeat.

What a joke...and these are supposed to be a bit easier to get than the Dynamis relics?
