Didn't people already say the two companies in question had issues?

How do you get that? I maybe jumping the gun, but its 30th, and I still can't log on. I'll amplify the measures tomorrow if I still can't log on..

I'm waiting until tomorrow because it'll probably be up tomorrow (next business day type deal), I hope. If not, I'll submit my story to kotaku.

I need to know who is still affected by this. Please respond to this topic and I will submit my story to kotaku shortly after.

IS SE RACIST AGAINST SOUTH KOREAN PLAYERS?

No, actually, once I get some input from players, I can start the story. I'd like if they had some snippets of their customer rep chats, and I can piece together a Frankenstein.

I just sent a BBB complaint, even though I know it won't do good, I advise everyone that has this problem and some more, to submit a BBB complaint as well.

I still can't log in.

I know it's a terrible attitude to have, but I've pretty much given up trying to get SE to acknowledge the issue. I've called them close to ten times and sent multiple e-mails. I keep getting the same generic answers eluding to it not being their fault. I've also been asked, each and every time I've called, if I want to cancel my ID. They obviously don't care to keep us as customers.

I'll continue to be a sucker though and pay my $16.95 a month to keep my account active in the hopes of being able to log on again someday...

I think that is the thing that pisses me off the most. They should at least say "we'll look into it ASAP and let you know what we find" These guys don't even bother to see what the problem is.

Writing the paper right now, at the earliest it should be on kotaku by tomorrow morning. Hopefully, kotaku publishes it on their front page! It's going to be a doozy...

I submitted the story this morning. Hopefully, it'll get published to the front page where it will bring media attention to this.

Alright!! I finally got to log on using the bootlegging that is mentioned on this thread. I couldn't do it before because I was using the wrong POLboot.exe. I advise for everyone else who is having this same log on issue to use this way until SE addresses the problem.

So I've been FFXI-less for over two months now. I thought I could get on with life without it, but I was wrong!

I'm feening to get back to the game. >.<

I tried connecting using the "bootleg" method mentioned earlier. I got connected to POL using Sockscap 2.40 and downloaded all of the version updates. However, when I get to the "Play" screen I get an error that says:

"Terminated as error occurred in FINAL FANTASY XI. Failed to initialize Direct3D. Please check that this computer has the required specifications to run FINAL FANTASY XI.(-1)"

Does anyone have any idea how I can remedy this? I've made no changes to my DirectX program that I know of.

Also, I can't connect at all using Freecap. Once I launch POLboot or Windower, POL will attempt to log on and I get a barrage of popup windows and then POL freezes. I can however connect using Sockcap 2.40 perfectly fine. It's just slow and then kicks me out with that Direct3D error.

I know this has been hashed for awhile now and everyone else seems to be finding a way around the issue. But I'm still stuck and I just can't let FFXI go!

The way I have been doing it is just using someone's unsecured wireless signal. I'm guessing you probably don't have a usable signal within range or else you'd prolly be on right now.

The only thing I can think of is maybe change your modem (if that is an option). I say this only because I'm unable to log on with my LAN but others using the same ISP and even living in the same building and floor as me have no issues logging in.

If the ISP won't switch out your modem on request you could just cancel your service for a few days and turn in the modem, a just start it back up again with a new one the internet dude hooks you up with.

Sorry I have no real ways of fixing your issue. The only thing I can do is give options to try. Hope you get on soon.

I would try to switch my modem if I actually had one. Unfortunately, I live in an officetel and my internet connection goes directly into my wall. -.-

Also, I went to Daegu for a week and couldn't log on, I realized that my current location is not blocked or was ever blocked. I was blocking myself with another program that I just started using coincidentally at the same time other people couldn't log on.

I realized this when I tried to log on through freecap in another location. Here in Osan, I can log on just fine with or without the bootleg way. In Daegu, I can't log in at all, even though I have in the past.

This is just ridiculous.

Hi, this is my first post. I felt this should be put on the board in case there were people who still couldn't log on.

I just moved to South Korea and I also couldn't log on to playonline.

I tried the method posted before, but it takes too much time. The best way I found is signing up for a VPN. For those who don't know, VPNs keep your IP hidden. So, if they don't know you're from the ROK, then you can get through.

I'm using Relakks and the first month is free. After that there is a 5 Euro fee a month, which right now is about 6 USDs. There might be better deals out there, but Relakks got me in. It's also handy if anyone wants to listen to Pandora radio (they also block ROK IPs) and for those who just want to be cool and undercover.

I hope this helps.

It's really not too long to do it,but for some reason I can't get it to work.

Hmmm. I'll look into the VPN..Can you go into more detail?

No, it's easy to setup the sock and tor thing, but it's such a long haul that it just too slow.

Relakks is routed through Sweden. You'll figure that out as you'll see computer ads in Swedish. VPN is very easy to setup; the Relakks website takes you through step by step. With a VPN, playonline won't know you are signing on from a Korean IP. In other words, SE is blocking specific regions and with a VPN you can pose as a computer not from those regions. I personally don't think SE will lift the ban on ROK and that they don't want their business. Just my opinion, but if you wait this out, you'll be waiting for a damn long time.

Relakks is free for a whole month, so nothing to lose if you want to see if it works for you. If anyone finds better deals on VPN sites, post them.
