I don't see what's so wrong with necroposting. There was some fresh debate, it wasn't just people messing about.

If necroposting is so terribly wrong, they should add some code so that a thread that hasn't been posted in for <some longish time period> gets locked automatically.

I believe there was a poll about exactly this a while back, and it showed that a substantial number of people voted that, even if only once, they bought gil at one point.
