A Scary Thing I just found out todayFollow

Okay today I just logged on to start doing some leveling when suddenly one of my friends on my friends list asks me what I've been doing online all day. I told him I just logged on, and he informed me that I've been online on his friends list with <Unicorn> by my name, but my character was never actually logged in. This is really scaring me. Is someone hacking into my account? I don't see how because no one knows my password except myself, and it's only typed in through my ps2. I've never used my POL ID or Password on my pc. And besides I'm so poor why would I be targeted? Does anyone know what this means?

Did you leave pol on? I think it'll say <servername> by your name if you've at least logged pol to the FFXI title screen.

if it wasn't logged on that would mean the hacker was sitting at the select character screen.







...........so, in short, your character is fine.

If you're worried, run an antivirus check and change your password. Not much can happen to you once you've done that.

Thank you I will change the password. I just want to know who got my password in the first place. The only people who should be able to access my account is myself and SE. How anyone was able to get my playonline ID is beyond me.



Impossible. I play on PS2, so not seeing how a virus/trojan or any sort like that could do this. Like I said before I've never typed my POL ID or password on my PC except for a few times last year. So I don't know what's going on.

Same thing is happening to a friend of mine on Garuda.

He is seemingly completely logged out, yet on my FL all I see is his name, then ............................<Garuda>.

Today, I was confused about whether he was on or off. LS list showed he was online - must have been afk - but FL said NAME.....................<Garuda> once again. Hmmm.

Yeah half my LS (All RL friends) were like that...you can even see it through Friend List + at times.

I did not see this sort of thing till all the current issues began.
