Hello all,

I'm on chapter 6-4 of Chains of Promathia, and to be honest I'm more than a little confused at the moment as to whats going on in the story. If someone could supplement me with information/correct any misconceptions I've gotten it would be very helpful.

Here's something of a compilation of what I've figured out so far.

Nag'molada: Was a Kuluu who has since joined with the Zilart working in Jeuno in order to attempt to open the gates to paradise, hoping that when the gates are open, the Kuluu (namely: him) will regain the Zilart heritage he was born without. He seems to be using the crystal line to drain the power of the mothercrystals to do this (I'm not quite sure, this is one point I was unclear on) and that this is causing the Emptiness.

Esha'tnearl (sp): a.k.a. Cardinal Millarioun (sp), is a Zilart who had... something happen to her 10,000 years ago during the war with the Kuluu and the Avatars, and she doesn't age anymore. She seems to have spent the time waiting on a prophecy from Fenrir in the hopes that they can force the will of Promathia from it's mortal vessel to destroy it, since destroy the mortal it resides in will only make it appear again. She is leading the Jeunoan armada against Bahamut to get more time to do this.

Bahamut: Seems to think that there is no way to prevent the gates of paradise from opening without eradicating everything on Vana'diel. He seems to think that the armada is merely a way of the Zilart to attempt to open the gate again. I'm still unclear on who the pact is with that he's intent on enforcing.

Terrestrial Avatars: are in the unenviable position of neither wanting to be eradicated by the wyrms nor wanting to become mere beasts in the event that the gates are opened. This may have caused Fenrir to find the alternative available due to Esha'tnearl's lack of aging.

Louverance: is apparently two people, one (in the red mask) who is attempting to resurrect the Tavnazian country, and another (in the purple mask) who is seeking to avenge his family. It's kind of confusing, but it's almost as if he just kind of got mixed up in all this, and can't get himself out.

Selk'teus: No clue, I honestly have no clue.

Tenzen: Is doing whatever it is a Tenzen does when he doesn't know what to do. He seems to have a very passive role so far in the story, having basically said "Phoenix knows what to do... oh wait, he says we're screwed."

Prishe: Prishe revealed that the magicite imbedded in her is the crystallized form of Promathia's will, but that without the full song of the gods, it can't be released. I still haven't figured out how she knows Selk'teus.

So... if someone can clear up what the heck is going on, please help.

I apologize in advance for my post being of no help at all.

I'm on 5-2 and even though I consider myself a rather educated individual, I have trouble following the story-line myself. Of course, this is partially due to seeing "/" and "in" while I'm trying to -read- the text in the cutscenes....

Just know that you're not alone in your obfuscation. The story line is a very in-depth one, and could easily have been a separate game entirely, It's just a tad confusing. My assumption is that it may just be like the Rank missions and Zilart Missions; It's really difficult to understand -exactly- what is going on until you've done it all.

My 2 gil (plus 101 gil AH listing fee, plus 1 gil Jeuno Bazaar tax).

[SPOILERS, I might get ahead of 6-4 so read at your own risk, but I'll try to stay at the point where you are]

Nag'molada: Was born a Kuluu (without the whisper of the souls), he hates the fact that he is a Kuluu and is willing to do anything to be restored to Zilart form. This means to either open the gates of Paradise, or use the Chamber of Eventide.

The emptiness that appeared in the Far East was caused by the Zilarts draining of the crystal. The emptiness that is caused in Vana'diel, or the Promyvions as we know it, is caused by a different reason (read Selh'teus).

Esha'ntarl was born a Kuluu as well, but Yve'Noile used the device in the Chamber of Eventide to remove the emptiness from her soul, which removed her mortality as well. The prophecy that Fenrir made was that the keeper of the apocalypse would be born in Tavnazia, and her goal was to somehow stop this? Not quite sure what her plan was.

Bahamut: He's trying to destroy the people of vana'diel because if there are no people, there will be no one to envelope in darkness when the keeper shows up, thus Promathia wont be reborn. (SPOILERS ahead of 6-4) I'm not entirely sure how Promathia is reborn at the end of 8-3, I believe he is an incarnation of Promathia taking the form of the Keeper of the Appocalypse.

Louverance: Wont really see what happens here untill the very very end. Not really important, more of a side story. PM me for more info.

(Spoilers beyond 6-4):
Selh'teus: Also born a Kuluu, he was somehow envolped by the emptiness and killed, but was reborn in a way, with the power to controll it. He is draining the light of the mothercrystals (thus causing the Emptiness/Promyvion) inorder to place that light into the Mothercrystal beneath Al'tiaeu to prevent it from falling to Vana'Diel.

When Al'Tiaeu/Tu'lia was assaulted by the Avatars, Al'Tiaeu took defensive measures and was transpored into a realm "beyond the fifth mothercrystal." And inorder for Al'tiaeu to stay in that realm the fifth mothercrystal needs energy, which is something it has begun to loose.

The reason Selh is doing this is because the REAL Keeper of the Appocalypse is sealed in Al'tiaeu.

Even though it's pretty much answered...
here's everything you can find at http://www.shadow-ffxi.com/HistoryofVanadiel

"Nag'molada: Was a Kuluu who has since joined with the Zilart working in Jeuno in order to attempt to open the gates to paradise, hoping that when the gates are open, the Kuluu (namely: him) will regain the Zilart heritage he was born without. He seems to be using the crystal line to drain the power of the mothercrystals to do this (I'm not quite sure, this is one point I was unclear on) and that this is causing the Emptiness."

-Yes Nag'molada is a Kuluu working for the Zilart, but he has been working for them for a long looooooong time. Well before the time we now live in. As for your other points, you are partially correct.

"Esha'tnearl (sp): a.k.a. She is leading the Jeunoan armada against Bahamut to get more time to do this."

-You're pretty much right on here, except for the fact that Esha'ntarl's quest to discover the Keeper led her to Prishe. Unable to bring herself to kill the girl she leads the Armada against bahamut to stop him from destroying the world since she cannot kill Prishe.

"Bahamut: Seems to think that there is no way to prevent the gates of paradise from opening without eradicating everything on Vana'diel. He seems to think that the armada is merely a way of the Zilart to attempt to open the gate again. I'm still unclear on who the pact is with that he's intent on enforcing."

-Long ago after the battle, Selh'teus and Bahamut made a pact that as long as he was alive he would look after the world and make sure the Zilart or any other races could not open gateway to paradise or threaten the earth in anyway. If he could not, Bahamut could continue his war on humanity and wipe everything away.

"Terrestrial Avatars: are in the unenviable position of neither wanting to be eradicated by the wyrms nor wanting to become mere beasts in the event that the gates are opened. This may have caused Fenrir to find the alternative available due to Esha'tnearl's lack of aging."

-basically the avatars are stuck in the middle. They don't want to kill the people of the world, but if the gates to paradise open their world (which they were born, and are attached to) will die...and they will die too.

"Louverance: is apparently two people, one (in the red mask) who is attempting to resurrect the Tavnazian country, and another (in the purple mask) who is seeking to avenge his family. It's kind of confusing, but it's almost as if he just kind of got mixed up in all this, and can't get himself out."

-exactly.

"Selk'teus: No clue, I honestly have no clue."

-He's the mystery, dont worry you'll find out more in chapter 7 and 8.

"Tenzen: Is doing whatever it is a Tenzen does when he doesn't know what to do. He seems to have a very passive role so far in the story, having basically said "Phoenix knows what to do... oh wait, he says we're screwed." "

-just wait, you'll discover Tenzen has a dark secret.

"Prishe: Prishe revealed that the magicite imbedded in her is the crystallized form of Promathia's will, but that without the full song of the gods, it can't be released. I still haven't figured out how she knows Selk'teus. "

-The reason she knows him has much to do with the necklace around her neck.

SPOILER!!!!

I just got the 8-2 cutscene a few days ago and unless i was more sleepy than i realized i believe it said that the Keeper of the Apocolypse is Yve'Noile and she is sealed inside of Al'tiaeu...? Or at least something with Yve'Noile involving using the power of the Eventide room to seal away the Emptiness and got trapped inside the sealing as well...perhaps the being sealed inside with the Emptiness caused her to become the Keeper?

I am going to go with the standard reasoning behind most FF storylines: Dont worry about logic or making sense, just make it seem cool.

Its got them this far.
