The "Fortunate" Mystery.Follow

A couple things:

The Strange Apparati have not been solved. "In the beginning" there supposedly were NPCs that gave you an 8 digit (numeric) password to use; howver, such NPCs no longer exist (if ever).

Wethered Plant and Luck Runes - These are both new however i think they server seperate purposes (just my opinion). If there truly is 8 Rune there may be a relationship. If there is 11 are found, they may relate in some way to the Apparati.

Jobs/Race/Allegiance/etc.: these variables which MAY truly affect what is asked however it may only affect the first time you start this task. Once you complete it, we can test this theory by seeing if what has been told has been changed (not adjusting the character in anyway).

I'd be all over this if I wasn't at work.

Can Anyone confirm the following Runes?:
Behemoth's Dominion
Qufim
Lufaise Meadows

"The balance distinguishes not between lead and gold"

8 words

"The hippogryph has fair feathers but foul feet"

8 words

"Even the best party comes to an end."
"Even the best parties must end."

One person quoted the first, one person the second... the first one is 8 words long though.

The last one that doesn't quite fit this pattern is this one:
"A poor warrior blames his weapons"

Is this the exact text here or not?

I'm not sure if this is relevant at all or not... what are the strange apperatus passwords? I've never used them.

Your lucky color is white. A pure, brilliant shade.
Your fortune lies west-northwest.
Title: "Knight in Training"
"Ill gotten gil becomes gil ill gone."

What's WNW? Tahrongi. Porting now.

Oh yeah - mithra, WHM75/BLM37, Windurst.

Well from my recolection (please correct me if I'm wrong):

You trade the aparatus an Infinity Core, a colored chip, and then enter a password...is that correct?

My theories, along the lines of the aparatus idea:

1. A partner is mentioned and both of you are given a color that we think corresponds to an aparatus.

Now, since there is someone else involved here is what I propose: use a chip on your apparatus that is of your partner's color. They obviously have to play some sort of role...who ever said you need to use the same colored chip in the apparatus??

2. Perhaps you both need to activate your apparati at the same time?

Idea about the plant in tahrongi.

Think about gardening, you can feed your plant and check it, and if you don't it withers.

Maybe you have to check this plant again, or over a period of time, and then you use a sickle and can harvest an item from it possibly?

Let me reiterate about Behemoth's Dominion, since there seems to be some confusion.

THERE IS NO LUCK RUNE IN BEHEMOTH'S DOMINION

I said this initially but I guess people got confused. The Luck Rune is in Qufim right outside the entrance to Behemoth's Dominion.

Thanks Divisortheory! I'll remove that from my post on the 1st page.

Also there was a link on the first post about the Strange apparati and one of the best posts about trying to figure it out. If you want any background info on them click here.

I would guess a mis-quote... "A poor warrior places his blame upon his weapons" would fit the pattern more...

Maybe the wisdom refers to the job the person has to be?
"The Balance distinguishes not between lead and gold"
The balance, or scale, is used to compare weights... do lead and gold weigh the same?

I believe that root to be unrelated. On a whim, I suggested to my partner to get some distilled water. He did, and traded it, and it said the sprout started to look better. It then said the sprout did not need to be watered again right now. So... take it how you want, there's more to be discovered on that, but I don't think it has to do with the fortune teller.

Maybe its a lucky roll kinda thing where people each trade a water and the lucky guy who trades the last one needed gets an item?

I'm also thinking the withering plant and luck runes are seperate from each other. I didn't mention this in my last post but in oldton movapolis there was a ??? that said "I'm thirsty". I'm thinking that the withering plant and that ??? may be related but not to the fortune quest.

k lets see here, this is mine:

Quote:

Emila;
Have you forgotten fate's secrets already?
Your lucky color is yellow.
Your fortune lies to the north.
I see great compability with one who holds the title of "Qiji's Rival."

"To love a person, you must love their faults."

so, allrighty, someone help me out here.

Yellow - Earth - Apparatus: Gusgen Mines.

Gusgen is not North of Mhaura.

This puts a hole in the Apparatus theory. -_-

Edinheimer:
Someone earlier in this thread mentioned that an ounce of gold and an ounce of lead have the same numbers of protons neutrons and electrons, but Gold has an Atomic Number (number of protons per atom) of 79 and Lead has an Atomic Number of 82. Gold's Atomic Mass (mass relative to one atom of carbon-12) is 196.96655 amu. Lead's is 207.2 amu. So I don't see how that could be possible.

I was just thinking maybe this is more story line driven...

Quote:

Pale Blue.
A great distance northwest.
Tearjerker.
"Even the best parties must end."

Xarcabard maybe? It is pretty far and northwest of Mhaura. It is also where a best party (party of the each nation's best) ended.

I'm thinking maybe near Castle O? It's north of Mhaura, and there was a cs in that area about a certain female hume that loved a poor gobbie in the story line.

Of course these are wild speculations.

First off, can anyone confirm the lufaise meadows location? I can not.

I went there and entered the vortex. I searched everywhere, but found no luck rune.

You may have gotten the ??? that has been there mixed up with luck rune, but it will say "Luck Rune" if it is one. I couldn't find such a spot anywhere even remotely close to the vortex.

(Edit: Found it, after the first section, in the first walled area heading to the safehold - Confirmed.)

Secondly...

If you trade the wrong color chip, by the way, it spawns an impossible to guage elemental. They are not very fun to fight.

You have a good point here. The hippogriff reference could mean an area where they are (Site #A01 maybe?).

Interesting.

Scroll down to poster named midnightcalm. This is the thread I was thinking of when I said the password mystery had been solved.

Just did quest with my Taru/WHM/Windurst

Lucky Color is Blue (a fluid, soothing shade)
Fortune lies to the West
Title "Ace Angler"
Exactly worded hint:
"The hippogriff has fair feathers, but foul feet."

The exact wording from my original attempt is:
"The poor warrior blames his weapons."

I see that someone posted that Gusgen is in the wrong direction from where it says their fortune lies. I have a potential solution to this - since there are two people in the quest, mix the colors? I.E. Red + Blue = Green. Either that, or match up with the opposite elemental color.

Perhaps that's what you need to do...it would certainly help if you had a partner to help you in the fight I assume.

I'd partner up with someone and try it...see if it drops/pops something different.

The problem with the theory about the final quote being story driven is that we have seen 2 different directions (at least) tied to the same quote.

In my first examples, the Northwest and North-northwest directions both had that hippogyrph quote at the end. With a different direction for each attached to the same quote, I just have to think they are unrelated... at least directionally.

The other Fortune Teller NPC in Lower Jeuno is a Quest starter. You have to get your fortune told on 3 seperate days/occassions though to start the quest.

Perhaps this is similar...

A pattern that occurs to me is that each color and direction pair corresponds to directions to an area where the weather can be the element of the given color.

Examples:

Black, far northwest, you can go to Xarcabard and I think Beaucedine.
Pale blue, far northwest, you can also go to Beaucedine.
White, west-northwest, you can go to Qufim.
Pale blue, north-northwest, you can go to Batallia. It snows there once in a while I hear.
Blue, west, you can go to any number of places where it rains, such as La Theine.

Maybe part of the quest involves finding the appropriate weather in the appropriate direction, and then doing ... something.
