I passed by a luck rune yesterday when I took a choco from tele-mea to windurst. I found it at H-10 in Tahrongi Canyon in the little mini maze at the bottom of the map. I thought it was some new item so I hopped off my choco and checked ("nothing out of the ordinary"). I hope this helps people if they need to find a luck run west of Mhaura.

Has anyone found any other sort of rune, or luck rune, or any other ??? anywhere?

I am wondering... because in all 3 of my examples, the directions could still be interpreted as the various strange apparati locations.

Purple is Lightning is Purple Chip.
Purple chip, purple machine, horototu.
Horototu is west.

Blue is Water is Blue Chip.
Blue chip, blue machine, Crawler's nest.
Crawlers's nest is NW.

Pale blue is Ice is Clear Chip.
Clear chip, Ice machine, Eldieme.
Eldieme is further northwest.

So far they do still match up. I am looking for more samples and examples if anyone has em.

Or perhaps having to trade somethign to the luck rune. Maybe a colored chip, a cluster, or a crystal.

I am packing a lightning crystal, cluster, and purple chip with me for the exact same reason. :P

My Fortune:

Your lucky colour is pale blue.
A chill, translucent shade.
Your fortune lies north-northwest.
And as for your perfect partner...
Seek one who bears the title of "Lower than the Lowest Tunnel Worm."

Something I'd like to point out, my moghouse's strongest element is Ice. A connection?

EDIT: Forgot to say, my 'advice' was "Even the best party comes to an end."

Getting my fortune soon...

NNW of Mhaura, but not TOO far (and outdoors!) are:

Attohwa Chasm
> Sanctuary of Zi'Tah

Someone check out Zi'tah, I find it more likely than Attohwa.

something to check, try useing the name of the NPC, that gave you the quest wich gave you the title the quest tells you to use. use it as the password in the Strange AP?

Perhaps...partnering with someone with the given title, on the given element's day, and clicking the Rune in the direction given?

Luck rune: H-10 tahrongi canyon - West of Mhaura

???: J-10 tahnrongi canyon - a plant that looked withered (may require watering?)

Sorry I checked my reply before and it almost looked hidden.

Wow, very interesting thread, I am going to try to trade my color crystal to the luck rune, and have a friend change there title to whatever is needed and come with me. I think this may spawn an NM or some such. Keep up the good work!

Just because this may run parallel to the Stange Apparatus stuff...

Below are the locations and colors of the Strange Apparati:

Gusgen: Yellow
Ordelle's: Green
Crawlers': Blue
Garlidge: White
Eldieme: Clear (Pale Blue)
Maze: Black
Horutoto: Purple
Dangruf: Red

Wow, this quest sounds so cool. Can't wait to check my fortune later when I get off work, I'll post it then.

Sounds like someone hit the nail on the head already though.

I'm thinking it has to do with the Luck Rune that someone had previously found. You get your fortune, have a partner with that title with you, find the Luck Rune together on the day that is luckiest for you (whatever colour you were told).

Now this is where it gets confusing. What do you do with the Luck Rune? Do you trade something? Do you fight something? I wish I had time to check it out myself. ; ;

Don't forget the others
King Ranperre's Tomb (unknown color)
Ranguemont Pass (unknown color)
Fei'Yin (unknown color)

"..Lucky Color is Black
...fortune lies a great distance to the Northwest
...perfect partner title = Night Sky Navigator

...words of wisdom: A poor warrior blames his weapons"

And so the plot thickens =)

edit: and this is poking more holes in the strange apparatus theory, as black would be the maze, and the maze sure isn't a "great distance" away.

BUT - The three apparatuses (apparati?) with unknown color are intriguing. A great distance northwest could possibly refer to Fei'yen. Hmmm.

I took a friend with me.

We changed to each others ideal titles.

His was "Northwest" and "Blue" so we went to the Tahrongi canyon luck rune.

We went on watersday, he tried clicking, nothing. Tried trading a blue chip too, nothing. I tried all sorts of stuff, nothing, nada.

We spotted that ??? with the "withered looking sprout" and hes going to try to trade a water crystal/cluster to it... but we can't think of anything else.

I found a luck rune yesterday in Lufaise Meadows. It was not anything special in the landscape or anything. It was found right at the entrance to the Meadows near the vortex to the Dunes. I clicked on it (not having started any new quests) and it said nothing out of the ordinary...

I'll look into this a bit, since I am off of work today.

As far as I know, there are 11 strange apparatusses.

The eight mentioned above, and three newer ones that seemed to be "inactive". At least they were a few months ago. They may have been activated in this update. One of the new apparatuses resides within King Ranperre's Tomb (It is a dark red color, so I'll call it carmine, because I believe that a carmine chip that drops from diremites in Pso'Xja is related.). Another is in Fei'Yin (Cyan, I'm assuming. Cyan Chip drops from Treasure Chests (mimic-things) in Pso'Xja.). The third "other apparatus" is in Ranguemont Pass (It's grey/faded. Grey chip drops from lizards in Pso'Xja.).

Note that I didn't think all this up. I've deducted this from the topic HERE. But here's what I think:

My theory is that the fortune quest is VERY related to the strange apparatuses. And the password is quite possibly the name of any character on your server with the "Daybreak Gambler" title (or the title that you are given.). Their title can change, and the passwords will change. Just what I think. Here's *my* list of apparatuses and chips, just for kicks.

Gusgen: Yellow
Ordelle's: Green
Crawlers': Blue
Garlidge: White
Eldieme: Clear
Maze: Black
Horutoto: Purple
Dangruf: Red

King Ranperre's Tomb: Carmine
Fei'Yin: Cyan
Ranguemont Pass: Grey

Can't wait to see the developments on this.

(I so want to get off work...)

For those who have tried this, do you have a new Quest in your quest log?

Also has anyone w/o CoP tried to get this "quest"? If a person w/o CoP can get this "quest" then we're looking only at non-CoP areas (more than likely). Partially answered due to the Meadows having a rune. If runes aren't related this question is still valid.

Also has anyone received any direction other than West, NW, or NNW (regardless of distance)?

Since Mhaura is pretty much the farthest east on the region map, I'm curious to know if there will be anything different.

Also from the posts I'm showing that we've found 4 luck runes:
Tahrongi Canyon (orginal)
Lufaise Meadows (CoP)
Qufim (original)

A couple direction/distance combonations that have been posted
West
NorthWest
North NorthWest
Great Distance NorthWest
West NorthWest
North

Also the following colors to direction:
West - Purple; Blue; Green
NorthWest - Blue
North NorthWest - Pale Blue
Great Distance NorthWest - Pale Blue; Black; White
West NorthWest - White
North - Yellow

Just a summary so far

::EDIT::
- added Lufaise Meadows information
- added Qufim to Possible Runes
- added White and WNW to the lists
- removed Behemoth's Dominion from possible runes
- added Yellow and N to the lists
- ...too many to list so blah. will still make updates though.

For the "Withered Sprout", there's new water items - a freshwater one and a saltwater one.

I heard they're for sale in Windurst...Ensasa, she's in Waters. Check it out.

Turnerbrown,
You're black and a great deal northwest. When you said it could be Fe'yin it made me think of Xarcabard, where Dark Weather can occur. Maybe poke around Xarcabard and look for a luck rune to check during dark weather? Don't forget about all the tunnels for LB2.
I'd do it myself but I'm at work!
Go go good team!

I think we should start keeping track of Jobs/race and such at the time we received the quest. I'm starting to think the prize at the end of this might be somewhat specific.

Galka/SanDoria/Thief

Black
Far NW
Night Sky Navigator
The poor warrior blames his weapons

Edit: I don't know firsthand, but to the best of my knowledge, passwords for the apparatuses is something that has already been solved, and has to do with very high missions in Promathia.
Not to say this can't have something to do with it, just be aware that an explanation already exists.
That explanation has to do with item replication, however. If this quest IS related to the apparatuses, the requirement of a partner makes me think there would be a different use.

Great thread, definitly gonna keep checking for updates on it as I am doing the FF update.

I find the correlation with the withering plant and the Luck Rune intrigueing (sp?) Has anybody checked to see if the other zone's with the Runes also have a withering plant? I believe the only other confirmed Luck Rune is in Qufim on the way to Behemoths Dominion. **someone who can get online should check**

Just read the post that there are new water items. Since plants use freshwater water someone try to trade that to the Withering Plant maybe.

Also some ideas:
Maybe your ideal partner has to have the same riddle as you. If you get Pale Blue they must have Pale Blue...If you get Earth they must have Earth. This would explain how people with different elements/lucky colors would not be able to do anything interesting.
But contradicting that, maybe your partner must have the element that is stronger (or weaker) then yours. Example being you have the dark riddle and s/he has the light riddle.

Hmmm.... maybe the password is that wierd proverb-y phrase she gives? or is it just fluff like the other fortune tellers?

Side note: do those other fortune tellers in jeuno serve any purpose? >.>

Oh and about that withering plant.... if its in tahrongi it might be for that quest that requires you to find a tahrongi cactus? Cactus is located in the north west area of the map.

Doh. The light bulb just went off.

A hippogryph is a mythical beast - the offspring of a griffon and a horse, whose natural relationship to the other is predator/prey.

The quest giver says nothing about your mate needing anything but that title, however, perhaps the additional "hippogryph" hint is suggesting that you need a person who is elementally opposite.....

A couple things...

I believe that root to be unrelated. On a whim, I suggested to my partner to get some distilled water. He did, and traded it, and it said the sprout started to look better. It then said the sprout did not need to be watered again right now. So... take it how you want, there's more to be discovered on that, but I don't think it has to do with the fortune teller.

The thing is, variables seem to change one by one, not as a set. Someone may have all the same variables as someone else, except the direction, or except the color... so I don't think they are set riddles, exactly, just individual clues or indications of use or purpose.
