Dug's GUIDE TO FARMINGFollow

I've workshopped this guide on my server (Asura) and got some great advice from many players. Now it's time to put it up for the general public. Hope you guys like it and if you contribute I'll give you credit.

Please understand that this is not a comprehensive list. I do not pretend that I know everything about farming in Vana'diel. This is a guide for farming locations that I have found helpful in my travels to level 61. As a monk, the majority of my career was spent farming--this guide is a testament to the work I put out.

Sections are divided by level first and then by area. Though the guide offers some small help to the beginner, it is designed to hone a seasoned adventurers’ money making potential. The majority of this guide caters to post 40 farming. In my opinion at 40 players gain the power to becoming efficient farming machines.

Quote:
TACTICS1:
I cannot overstate the importance of the thief skill: Treasure Hunter. I must have farmed a couple months without TH. After I leveled thief to 15 and acquired Treasure Hunter I noticed a marked improvement both to my drops and my bankroll. If you are serious about farming then do yourself a favor and get thief up to at least 15! And if you really want to help yourself out then get thief up to 25. Upon hitting 50 with your main you will have 'Flee' and you will love it.

Treasure Hunter and Flee--a farmers two best friends.

Quote:
TACTICS2:
Buy a stopwatch. Monster pops are dependant upon 2 factors: time and location. Every monster is set on a timer; every monster is bound to a specific location. Because the mob will automatically repop after a certain amount of time expires, you can give yourself the power of knowing exactly when and where the next pop is. If you are in a dungeon and you kill something that pops every 10 minutes, start the timer. After 10 minutes expire you will know the exact time and location it will repop.

Dug's GUIDE TO FARMING:

Your starting city can play a significant role on how much gil you acquire. I have started in all 3 cities and by far have made the most gil in Windurst.

The key to Windurst is quest money. Almost every item dropped by monsters in East & West Sarutabaruta can be traded in Windy for quest gil and fame. Though it is time consuming getting around that HUGE city, if you want to start making money from the get-go choose Windurst.

Level 1-10

East & West Sarutabaruta
Mandragora: Cornettes, 4-leaf mandy bud, and Yutunga Sulfur. Trade these items to Yoran-Oran (E-5 Walls). They also drop a 2-leaf mandy bud.
Crawlers: Silk Thread, Crawler Calculus, Smooth Stones. Sell the silk in stacks. Trade calculus to Illu Bohjaa (H-6 Woods), and smooth stone to Chamama (F-10 Waters).
Giant Bee: Beehive Chips, Honey.
Carrion Crow: Bird Eggs, Bird Feather. Bring feathers along with a 2-leaf mandy bud to Moreno-Toeno (L-6 Waters).
Yagudo and Rarabs: Both drop quest items. Yags have the necklaces and rarabs drop tail and letters.

Level 5-10

Horutoto Ruins Outer
Submitted by Jaidea/KaiburTaru
Goblin Weaver/Thug: Wild Onion, Assorted Armor, Fire Crystal. The real treat here is the wild onions. The room holds 18 pop locations for gobs. The repop time is 8 minutes.

NOTE: Horutoto has many entrances. The tower for wild onion farming is located at (F-4) in West Sarutabaruta.
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?farea=5

Level 9-13

Ghelsba Outpost
Orcish Fodder, Grappler, Mezmerizer: Fire crystals.
Toadstool & Cheiroptera: Dark Crystals, Sleepshrooms, Wind Crystals. One of the best low-level money making secrets in the game. Go to the four cave rooms that spawn Toadstood. In 3 of the rooms three toads pop, in the 4th room four toads pop. Repop time is 8 minutes. Work the rooms in a circle.

Horutoto Ruins Outer
Cardians: Crystals. The specific advantage here is the ‘Coins’ Cardian; it drops Light Crystals.

NOTE: This tower entrance is located in West Sarutabaruta at (F-11)
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?farea=5

Giddeus
Giddeus Bee: Beehive Chips, Honey, Wind Crystals.

Level 35+

Tahrongi Canyon
Submitted by ArkhanTerra
Air Elemental: Wind Clusters. There are 4 spawn points that I know of. Two are in (I-7) one is by crag and the other is in the mountain. One pops N of the crag @ (J-5/6), and the last one pops @ (I-9).
Killer Bee: Beehive Chips, Honey.
Wild Dhalmel: Giant Femur, Dhamel Skin, Dhamel Meat.
Ghosts: Luminicloth, Cotton Cloth.
Tier II Yagudo: Silver Beastcoins (steal).
Pygmaioi: Saruta Cotton.
Strolling Saplings: Grain Seeds, Herb Seeds.
Canyon Crawler : Silk Thread.
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?farea=30

The trick to making money in Tahrongi is the air elementals. Because Tahrongi has frequent shifts in climate the wind icon comes up quite a bit. When it does then rush to the nearest elemental and try to get the claim.

Dangruf Wadi
Submitted by binya, Eater of Souls
Goblins: Animal Glue, various Armor, various Spells.
Steam Lizard: Lizard Skin, Wadi Chest Key. Kill these while waiting for Geyser Lizard to pop.
Geyser Lizard: Steam Scale Mail.
Wadi Hare: Gausebit Wildgrass.
Giant Grub: Sulfur, various Ores, Hermit's Ring.
Wadi Leech: Fiend Blood. These sell for 100 gil to NPC's.
Stone Eater: Various Ores, Hermit's Ring.
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?farea=26

There are quite a few sweet spots to farm here. The advantage is that generally not many people farm here. Find a place above the steam spouts and camp out. I think the repop time is 6 minutes (but it's been a while on this one).

Jugner Forest
Submitted by Valrath
Jugner Funguar: Sleepshroom, Woosyshroom.
Forest Tiger: Black Tiger Fang, Black Tiger Hide.
Brutal Sheep: Sheepskin. If you plan on killing sheep, bring some dark crystals, distilled water, and windy tea leaves to turn the skins stacks of into leather.
Orcish Serjeant: Castle Floor Plans. Trade to NPC in N Sandy for 900 gil.
Walking Tree: Mistletoe, Oak Log, Puffball. One pops around the south side of (J-5), another pops around (G-9) by the hill.
Thunder Elemental: Clusters.
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?farea=45

2 Strategies. First strategy is to camp where one of the treants pop. Use your stopwatch to establish a repop time, then kill stuff around that tree while you wait for the repop. Second strategy is to camp the two tigers in the cave @ (H-12). Space out the kills and stack your tiger teeth! Be careful at night because a boggart pops on the log bridge.

Level 40+
Get Treasure Hunter
Get a Stopwatch

La Theine Plateau
Battering Ram: Ram skins, Ram horns. With TH you can get 3-7 drops off one kill. Your inventory will fill very fast with these mobs. In La Theine there are 2 ram pops. The center radius for one is @ (H-9) in the low lands. The center radius for the other is @ (G-8) in the highlands. Pop time is 10 minutes. NOTE: A NM and a HNM Ram pop randomly. The NM pops each 1-2 hours, the HNM is more infrequent.
Air Elemental: Wind Cluster. Four pop spots, but there are only two that I know about for sure and can confirm. These two are @ (H-10) (F-7). Given the location of these two, I'd say the elementals pop near any of the large gaping ravines.
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?farea=29

Konschtat Highlands
Tremor Ram: Ram skins, Ram horns...same as above. In Konschtat there are also 2 ram pops. The center radius for one is @ (H-7) west of crag. The center radius for the other is @ (G-6) in the NW area. Pop time is 10 minutes.NOTE: A NM and a HNM Ram pop randomly. The NM pops about every every 2+ hours, the HNM is more infrequent.
Huge Wasp: Beehive Chip, Honey.
Thunder Elemental: Two pops that mirror the Ram locations.
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?farea=28

Buburimu Peninsula
Bull Dhalmel: Giant Femur, Dhamel Hide, Dhamel Meat. Stack the meat to sell, bazaar the rest in front of bonecrafter guild in W.Woods.
Air Elemental: Wind Cluster.
Carnivorous Crawler: Silk Thread. This type of prey may not be worth it without TH2. Silk drops have been nerfed. Personally I'd stick to the Dhamels to fill inventory and sell for quick turnover.
Bogy: Cotton Cloth, Luminicloth. These may not be worth it, anymore. At one point luminicloth would sell for 2-4k per, but the price has lowered significantly. Killing bogies may not be time-efficient.

Meriphataud Mountains
North Side
Crane Fly: Gausebit Wildgrass. One of the best-kept farming secrets in the game. These suckers sell for 1-3k per; they sell fast, drop fast and are an easy kill.
Coeurl: Coeurl Hide, Coeurl Meat, Coeurl Whisker. 3 pop @ (K-4), 2 pop @ (I/J-7) and 2 pop in between. Kill these while waiting for Crane Flies to repop. Stack the meats and whiskers, they sell great. Repop time is 5 minutes.
Fire Elemental: Appears on any given day between 10:00-16:00. It pops on the west side of (I-7) usually inside the ravine. When that fire icon appears, hit flee and run for the claim.
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?farea=87

South Side
Submitted by Ayrlie
Raptors: Raptor Skin. These bad boys pop all around the mountains @ (I-9). They are Placeholders for Axe Beaks.
Axe Beak: Cockatrice Meat, Cockatrice Skin, Bird Feather. These guys sometimes pop in place of the raptors.
Hill Lizards: Lizard Skins.
Boggarts: Regen Spell.

WARNING: Be wary of the two NMs that pop @ (K-10/11). One looks like a raptor and the other looks like an axe beak...especially watch out for the latter.

Maze of Shakhrami
Maze Scorpion: Scorpion Claw, Scorpion Shell. Repop time 10 minutes.
Labyrinth Scorpion: Scorpion Claw, Scorpion Shell.
Air Elemental: Wind Cluster. Four pop spots. Two on first map @ (K-9) (I-7). Two on second map @ (G-7) and (F-7).
Carnivorous Crawler: Silk Thread. Several pops at both (H-5) and (I-8), both are on second map. Repop time 10 minutes.
http://www.speakeasy.org/~sticks/ffxi/treasure/

Maze is where the real money is made. Here is the battle plan. Kill scorpions to fill your inventory. The repop time is 10 minutes so start in one location and make a circle route back. Stay punctual to the ten minute schedule and you will control the spawn. When inventory is full put items up in bazaar, then go to Windurst and sit down in front of the bonecrafters guild. Go to work, go to sleep, do whatever--when you come back the goods have magically disappeared.

Another tip: farming the Maze is all about elementals. As you are farming scorps when you see the air icon pop, drop everything you are doing. Run to the closest air elemental and kill it. Then move on to the next till all 4 are dead. On a night with few other farmers you'll be rich after a few rounds.

Ordelle Caves
Stroper: Malboro Vine, Shield Pendant. Two pops each on 3rd map @ (G-11) and (H-11). One on 2nd map in the Molbolger domain (H-10). 12 min pop time.
Goblin Furrier: All sorts of leathercrafting products.
Napalm: Flame Degen. (G-9) on second map. 12 min repop time.
Stroper Chyme: This guy roams. Consider it a bonus to your farming if you get him.
Air Elemental: One pop in the napalm room.
http://www.speakeasy.org/~sticks/ffxi/treasure/

Pashhow Marshlands
Marlboro: Malboro Vine, Dodge Headband.
Goobbue: Boyahda Moss, Tree Cuttings.
Carnivorous Crawler: Silk Threads.
Marsh Funguar: Sleepshrooms
Thread Leeches: Beastman Blood.
Thunder Elemental: The three pop spots I have seen are (J-8) (E-11) and (H-10).
Water Elemental: These guys appear near lakes
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?farea=92

My strategy for Pashhow is simply running around killing everything you happen to cross. The area is vast and mobs are spaced out.

Delkfutts's Tower
Submitted by MavrikCorky
Gigas: Gil. With gil finder these big guys drop about 200 gil per kill.
Thunder Elemental: Lightning Clusters.
Light Elemental: Light Clusters.

Lower and Middle
Submitted by Jomiru
Magic Pot/Jar: Magic Pot Shard, Mercury.
Panzer Doll/Jagd Doll: Doll Shard, Mercury.

Strategy: Kill all the dolls/pots in an area then kill Gigas on the way to other rooms where dolls/pots pop. Shard stacks are the prime target, but mercury stacks and Gigas gil can be a nice second.

Carpenter's Landing
Submitted by plutoknight
Forest Tiger: Black Tiger Fang, Black Tiger Hide.
Sabertooth Tiger: Black Tiger Fang, Black Tiger Hide.
Flytrap: Flytrap Leaves.
Marsh Funguar: Sleepshrooms, Woozyshrooms.
Diving Beetle: Beetle Jaw.
Digger Wasp: Beehive Chips, Honey.

One side has Forest Tigers while the another has Sabertooth Tigers. Tiger Fang drop rates seem higher here than anywhere else. While farming fangs, you can also log for Elm and Oak at several points. NPC The Flytrap Leaves, however the leaves do not stack.

Level 45+

Sauromugue Champaign
Tabar Beak: Cockatrice Meat, Cockatrice Skin, Giant Bird Feather. There are two primary hunting circles for these beasts. Both areas have 6 pop locations on a 5 minute timer. One circle centers around (J-6) to (K-7). The other is located from (G-6) to (H-7). Remember--you can steal feathers off these guys. NOTE: Pre lvl 50 beware of the gaze attack that could petrify you. Once petrified the Tabar could peck away at ya till KO'd.
Champaign Coeurl: Coeurl Hide, Coeurl Meat, Coeurl Whisker. A few pop around the Eastern Tabar route.
Thunder Elemental: One will pop at (J/K-6).
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?farea=86

Rolanberry Fields
Goobbue Farmer: Boyahda Moss, Tree Cuttings.
Death Wasp: Beehive Chips, Honey.
Berry Grub: Silk Thread.
Ochu: Malboro Vine, Dodge Headband.
Quadevs: Silver Beastcoin (Steal), Maul (off Garnet Q), various Scrolls.
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?farea=93

In Rolanberry you run the gauntlet. Start outside Jeuno, head along the trail all the way to Pashhow. Kill all the bees, goobbues and grubs along the way.

Beadeaux
Old Quadevs: Quadev Helm. This is the easiest gil to farm, namely because (if you choose) you do not need to worry about finding a buyer. You can trade Quadev Helms to Goraow located at (I-6) in Bastok Mines for 900 gil each. Repop is 10 minutes.
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?farea=91

Strategy: Camp at the mute-stone at (F-9). There are 10 Old Quadev pops in the local vicinity. The interesting thing about this mob is that if you kill an Old, an Old will pop to replace it. So don’t worry about killing the other Quaddies—only kill the Olds. Mute up, then make your way around the island at (F-10) killing Olds along the way. Complete the circle and rest back at the mute. Repeat.

Level 50+

Castle Oztroja
Cutter: Land Crab Meat. Hunt these and meat maggots while you wait for Mee Deggi to pop. The land crab meat is used in cooking and sells well.
Meat Maggot: Silk Thread, White Rock.
Yagudo: Mithril Beastcoin, Chest Key, Assorted Armor. On lower levels you can make a killing stealing Mithril Beastcoins.

Strategy: When hunting Yagudo, camp right outside the door to the Altar Room (G-10 Map 7) where you acquire the magicite. Kill and steal from all Yags here, if things get tight then zone the problem away. Remember to use those chest keys!
http://www.speakeasy.org/~sticks/ffxi/treasure/

Korroloka Tunnel
Submitted by Ayrlie
Gigas: Gigas Necklace, Gigas Socks, Maple Shield. There are 4 pops in main tunnel. To sell them just sit outside of Windurst and they'll go fast, or use the items to desynth.
Thunder Elemental: Pops on the path from Zerhum to Altepa.
Bogy: Cotton Cloth, Luminicloth. On north map there is a room of bogies. Be careful of Dame Blanche though, you will need a full level 60+ party to beat her.
Jelly: Slime Oil. They bleed them here.
Clippers: Land Crab Meat. Sell this in Windurst or Sandy AH by the stacks.

Gusgen Mines
Submitted by Caia
Ghast/Ghoul/Wight: Bone Chip.
Fly Agaric/Myconid: Sleepshroom.
Thunder Elemental: Cluster.
Earth Elemental: Cluster.

Near the entrance there are a number of weaker Skeleton type mobs. Easy kills and they drop Bone Chips quickly. Because of the frequency and ease of killing these mobs, I'd say this is probably one of the fastest way to acquire bone chips in the game. NOTE: If you plan to farm deeper inside Gusgen--bring a warp scroll! Once you pass the lever doors, you cannot come back unless somebody opens them from the other side.

Level 55+

Lufaise Meadows
Submitted by plutoknight
Bugard: NPC all drops.
Gigas: Gigas Necklaces, Gigas Socks, Gil.
Orcs: Gil, Lowers Fomor Hate.

Beadeaux
Submitted by Alrefie
Garnet Quadevs: Maul, Scroll of Reraise. Bazaar the Mauls and NPC the scrolls.

Level 60+

Valkurm
Submitted by Xydation
Hill Lizard: Lizard Skins. Train kill lizards for big profit on the skins and fast turnover. NOTE: Please kill the lizards near the hidden-beach region of the map. Low-levelers tend to kill the lizards by Konschtat for experience.
Fire Elemental: Appears on any given day between 10:00-16:00. It pops @ (E-8) on the ridge. When that fire icon appears, hit flee and run for the claim.
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?farea=22

Western Altepa Desert
Submitted by Ayrlie
Antican Essedarius: Mythril Beastcoins (steal), Antican Robe (for desynth).

Strategy: Attack Anticans to steal your drops. After the battle flee to the Rabao zone. Use nomad moogle to heal and reset Steal and Flee timers. Repeat.

Gustav Tunnel
Submitted by Ayrlie
Goblin Reaper/Robber: Mythril Beastcoin (steal), Assorted Armor, Misc Spells. All 3 gobs have armor drops where you can store on a mule for Guild Points later on. Trade them to the outpost in Selbina to help your nation conquest of Zulkhiem, or NPC them. Some of these gobbies will still con easy prey even at level 63, which means fire and lightning crystal drops! For some jobs these mobs are soloable starting as early as level 55.

Fei Yin
Submitted by Ayrlie
First Floor.
Shadow: Chest Key, Treasury Gold Ingot.
Ore Golems: Chest Key, Golem Shard, Mythril Ore.
Drones: Doll Shards.
Clockwork Pods: Eastern Pottery, Magic Pot Shard, Mercury, Zircon.
Revenant: Cotton Cloth, Linen Cloth.

The big prize here is the Fei Yin chest key. The item in the Fei Yin treasure chest (spawns all over the first map) is Life Belt worth 150k. The bad news is that these mobs can still hit pretty hard even at 63, you might want to grab a mage to speed up the killing and to stick Silence on the pods and reveants. The competition for treasure chests is very high because of that 150k item, and the fact the Teleport-Vhazl quest requires a key item that is found in that chest.
http://www.speakeasy.org/~sticks/ffxi/treasure/

Crawler's Nest
Submitted by MavrikCorky
Guardian Crawler: Rolanberry 881. (I/J-9).
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/bestiary.html?fmob=108

Strategy: Buy 10-20 Stacks of Rolanberries from Gekko in Port Jueno (H-8). Head to Crawler's Nest. Place a rolanberry in the ??? @ (I/J-9). Kill the NM that pops to get the loot and repeat. When your pack is full trade the 881's to Vuntar in Selbina (H-9) for 800-900 gil a pop.

Oldton Movalpolos
Submitted by plutoknight
Goblins: Gil, assorted Goblin Armor.
Moblins: Gil, Moblin Thread, Moblin Armor.
Bugbears: Bugbear Mask, Oldton Chest Key.

Farm pretty much everything but the Bats and bombs. Have your THF sub capped for your current level (or at least 30+). Moblins drop tons of gil and ther assorted beastmen drops like Goblin and Moblin Helms sell well. You can also mine for Darksteel and Iron.

Giddeus
Submitted by Xydation
Yagudo: Gil, Yagudo Necklace.
Digger Wasp: Beehive Chips, Honey.

This is mainly for RDMs and BLMs but it can work if you have some others like a PLD to pull while the mages rest. Train yags and bees. I advise you have at least 3 gobbie bag quests completed before doing this because your inventory will fill rapidly. Set HP in Windy, warp there for the quick sale when bag is full--then back to Gid for more. NOTE: Please be courteous to other players. If lowbies are leveling there or if groups are getting their Kazaam keys please do everybody a favor and work something out so all parties are happy.

Level 67+

Lufaise Meadows
Submitted by Abardy
Leshys: Mistletoe, Puffball, various Logs. One pops @ (G-6). Kill these treants while logging.
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?farea=142

This list is not complete, but will be updated.
If you have anything to add please post it, I'll give you credit.

Good guide, but a few things popped into my head that you should add.

1) Defkautt's Tower. You should be at LEAST level 40, probably 50 if you want to maximize this, and sub THF (At least level 15, but you can get away with level 5 if you are really cheap). Essentially all you do is run around, and kill any Gigas/Giants you see. You are farming gil off these bad boys, and they drop around 200 gil each if I remember correctly (it is been a long time). Any job can do this, but of course, the melee's are better suited for this than mages, but I have seen White mages farming here. You can also get Light Elementals, but I am unsure of their level, and if you could take them.

2) Crawlers nest. Buy 10-20 Stacks of Rolanberries from Jueno (They are sold by an NPC), equip up, and head to Crawlers Nest. The recommended level for this would have to be 60ish to do this effectively. You trade the Rolanberries to the ??? in the sac room, and the Guardian Crawler pops. Sometimes he does not pop when you trade Rolanberries to the ???, but try again, and he will eventually pop. He drops a dated rolanberry, which you can trade to an NPC in selbina (Again, dont know the name, maybe someone can fill this out) for 800-900 gil a pop. If you are a high enough level to effectively do this, then you can farm these very quickly for a lot of money.

Just a couple ideas, feel free to add them ^_^

I couldn't help but notice that you put Taber Beaks in at 45+.

I would just like to note that while I have no problem at 50 killing the little buggers, they do have gaze type attack which can petrify you.

I have had the mob down to a single hit left and they would petrify me. Eventually they would bring me down after whittling away my hp from over 700.

I assume that since it is a gaze type attack, you can turn away from them and have it not work, but after dying and deleveling to it, I haven't gone back to test the theory.

What a troll, he tries to help out and thats how you contribute, by trolling him?

9-20 Beehive chips are nice.

10-30 Beastmen are nice, Helms, backplates etc.

30-35 Rams are good.

you really are flaming someone for posting advice that EVERYONE could use? i remember someone else did this a few months ago and had the same result...

/sigh

btw great guide, theres alot of other places too though:

Lufaise Medows: Miseltoe off leshys

they drop like 1/4 but a level 75 gets hit pretty damn hard from them... i never have seen a level 55 or so mob tackle a 75 thf as hard as these guys did, expect ALOT of downtime if you dont have bloody bolts, and a not so great drop rate;; but theres a ton of them here and you might get lucky.

Please remove this from your guide, Valkurm is no place to farm, There are so many people trying to exp there, down at the konstacht zone and up in the north west section, it is simply rude and causes problems because it is hard enough to lvl through that place anyway.

35+ Dangruf Wadi - ride the geyser up to farm (don't remember the location)

Gobs- Animal Glue off ambushers, various armor (I npc them), spells
Lizzies - to pop Steam Lizard who drops Steam Scale mail
Leeches - fiend blood (~100 gil to an npc)
Worms - ore, flint stones (trade for quest in bastok, or sell on AH), Hermit's Rings

I've easily made over 90k in one night farming here for 3-4hours. Not great, but not bad if you want an area with not much competition.

While the people near the Konschtat Highlands zone do level on hill lizards, those who level near the secret beach (i.e. the northwest section) generally level exclusively on goblins. Very few parties who are leveling on hill lizards choose to camp near the secret beach because of the large number of goblin spawn points.

I myself farm lizard skins up near the secret beach and have come across parties leveling there many times. Each time, I make sure they're not leveling on hill lizards, but the fact of the matter is that if they're choosing to level all the way up there, hill lizards are likely not their target.

Edit: I did not rate you down.

Those are the hardest levels for me to suggest on because I didn't start farming till 35+. However if anybody makes suggestions I will be more than happy to add them in ;)

MavrikCorky: Thanks for the Delkfutts and Crawler's Nest ideas. Man, that CN method is a CAPITOL idea! I'm going to have to hit that.

Thanks for the reminder. I added a disclaimer explaining the petrify. As a MNK I only got killed at 45 when I got too greedy. I.E.: I had just killed 3 tabars, I was below 1/3 health, I see a pop and then I see somebody running toward it so I claim it fast. Then I get petrified and die. LOL--good times.

Good point. I added a disclaimer suggesting that people only farm the lizards at the hidden-beach side of the map. Gotta respect the lowbies!

Just a few notes for clarification:

Dangruf Wadi:

The Steam Scale Mail is dropped only by the NM Geyser Lizard, which spawns in two locations within Wadi. Steam Lizards, on the other hand, drop only skins, tails and the occasional Wadi Chest Key (the chest holds cheap stones like Lapis Lazuli, a lowbie WHM shield, or gil, which can net you about 700-2000 gil). Also, the Wadi hares drop Gausebit Grass as well, which tend to sell better in Jeuno than anywhere else.

Pashow Marshlands:

The Malboros drop Dodge Headbands, which NPC for about 2K, or AH for about 3K. I have never seen one drop the shield pendant that you mention. Don't forget the funguars for their shrooms. Also, the two NMs, Bloodpool Vorax (leech which drops Bloodbead Amulet) and Jolly Green (Goobbue which drops Shaman's Belt) can be a nice 20-30K chunk of change each.

Rolanberry Fields:

You can steal silver beastcoins from the Quadavs, and the Garnet variety drops Mauls, which NPC for about 2K. They also drop random WHM/RDM scrolls, some of which sell for about 1-2K each on AH.

Qufim:

Check the weather, and when the Light Elementals are out, time to farm!

Of course, there are other places for higher level players, but other than that, great guide!^^

A couple corrections on the Dangruf Wadi information:

- The geyser lizard is a timed spawn that isn't related to killing other lizards.

- Giant Grubs drop zinc ore (1/6), sulfur(1/2), flint stones(1/1), and hermit's rings(1/10). Of these, you'll make by far the most money off sulfur.

* All drop rates are with TH2

for 50+ I'd say Pashow Marshlands can give big returns, if you farm it right. You need a /25thf to maximize time.
Leeches- Beastman Blood (30-40k) a stack, these leeches all spawn by the small pools of water on the map.
Goobbue- Tree Cuttings, Boyhada Moss- These Goobbue have set spawn points, be sure to mark them on your map, so you can hit them up easily. NPC the Moss and sell the Cuttings for about 6-10k dependant on the server.
Crawlers- Silk Thread- goes for about 18-20k a stack nowadays. These crawlers all spawn by the trees, which are pretty obvious in the zone, when you look around. Silk can be a rare drop, but 20k for a stack is a good pay off.
Thunder and Water Elementals- If you have a mule, this can make you considerable amounts of money, just bazzar these water clusters by the Cooking Guild in Windurst, or Alchemy guild in Bastok. Thunder can just be sold.
Malboro- Sell the vines for a good 800g-1k, sells quickly in Bastok and Sandy.
The Plan
#If Gooby bags are done this will be a lot easier and theif 15 is a must for a sub. Being 40+ or 50+ makes farming a lot quicker and more productive.
Start at the zone line and work your way on the road, being sure to visit every pool and Tree on your way, check for weather effects, and basically just kill everything you see there ^_^
~~~~~Good Luck and Happy Farming!~~~~~~~
Antican Essedarius: Mythril Beastcoins (steal), Antican Robe (for desynth).
Strategy: Attack Anticans to steal your drops. After the battle (or during) flee to the Rabao zone. Use nomad moogle to heal and reset Steal and Flee timers. Repeat.
Eeeeh..... that's not exactly the most courteous thing to do. Continually train anticans to the zone ^^; Whatever works i guess, but good guide, anyways :)
You included one of my favorite places: Delkfutt. However, you say to farm gigas. Actually i find that farming magic pots and dolls in lower and middle to be my best money there. There are several rooms that pop 2 pots and several that pop 3-6 dolls. Doll shards are rare but worth over 30k/stack and pot shards are 18k-20k/stack and they drop much more. Both types of mobs also drop mercury which is up to 9k/stack in Jeuno on Pandy. What I do there is kill all the dolls/pots in an area then kill gigas omw to the other rooms where they pop. as a 58 drk/29 thf i can make really good money doing this.
That is a good point.
I have never personally farmed here, I am relaying information - My friend who is a 60 PLD/THF can farm here extremely effectively, and am just relaying what he told me - I definately plan to farm there, since the money is pretty consistant from what he has told me, and there is rarely anyone farming there.
Out of curiousity, and an out of the blue question... do you know what the Northern Fur's are for? I got some doing the run up to the top for Rank 4, and sold them... but I am sure that you must have gotton a few farming there - any idea what they are for other than putting on the AH for 1k or so? =P
Absolutely right on both counts. I updated the Wadi stuff. As for the Shield Pendant I must have been thinking of the Stropers in Ordelles when I wrote it. Stropers drop Pendant, Marlboros drop Headband, hehe got it ;)
Giant Grubs...
Totally correct, I changed the info based on what you and Kamanao wrote. Thanks for the heads up.
That's actually a valid point. The biggest danger would be other players getting Antican aggro while the ant is pathing back from zoneline. I'm going to have to think of some kind of disclaimer to put on that one.
Actually, I think the idea when farming these is to kill them. You can only successfully steal once per mob anyway, so if you leave them alive and just flee to the zone, you're going to run out of anticans near Rabao fairly quickly. I think he just mentioned fleeing to the zone mid-fight as an option if you bit off more than you could chew.
Ya, that makes sense to me. And it solves the dilemma. I just took out the parethetical (or during battle). TY ;)
