I also remember when someone sent you Items or money in game, it sent you a message telling you so.

Light crystals used to be 10-15K per stack before they nerfed the NPC price of rusty/padded caps. >_>

Don't you ever wonder how people could possibly level back then? I mean, no refresh. No dispell. A lot of things missing.

Guess it required a lot of skill back then to get exp, and possibly just chain VT's during normal EXP instead of endgame too. o.o

2003 players, i salute you o.o

Interesting compilation OP.

Although it does sound as if the whole game didn't even exist! All the main stuff wasn't there. Honestly, how many people would be playing rdm now if convert and refresh didn't exist?

We're lucky Ninja wasn't introduced yet at that time... utsusemi would probably have not existed.

My favorite change was when the AH categories got re-vamped.

Remember when there was no separate category for crystals? I think they were lumped in with all those cards that the cardians drop and some other random stuff... that was a mess.

Now we just need to be able to enter in the name of an item to search for instead of having to sift through categories to find what you need...

Just to add my own contribution, Bio II used to cost more MP (50something I think). ^^ I know it's small but it's basically the only thing that has affected BLM since I started (June 04) lol.

I wonder how Jeuno was in the beginning.... every third shout wasn't "Teleport-Dem Teleport-Holla Teleport-Mea Teleport-Altep Teleport-Yhoat 500G Teleport-Vahzl 1000G tele come mog pt ^.^" (to all you Odin players you may recall Heimf...).

...Speaking of teles, I'm gonna go get a Yhoat and level my NPC. >.>

Does anyone know if the missions 5-1 and 5-2 were originally around? If the highest Rank was 5, wouldn't that mean the original story ended with the Magicite Mission, and the Shadow Lord saying you can't stop him? Kinda lame ending, so that can't possibly be it.

When the game was released in NA, on Seraph people would level to 30 in Qufim. I remember somebody telling me we should be leveling in Yuhtunga at 30, so after leveling that far in Qufim I quested for the keys, flew over, and saw nobody. I walked into Yuhtunga, and there was only a Bst soloing. I grabbed a Chocobo and got lost. =/

Great thread.

Things were certainly different back then (I had several friends who played since NA release, and they all bugged me to jump in with them >.>;). I'm a bit surprised about the changes made to RDM, not to mention that stigma about them being useless. The lack of Refresh doesn't break my heart, but lack of enfeebling profficiencies? "Wow" is all I can say. >.>

Anyway, nice job in compiling all that info. Certainly shows what many of us missed out on. =P

I remember when Astrals were cheap. [dreamy sigh] I had 50k when I was a wee one and I could have probably gotten one in Jeuno for 100k. I decided not to save for one thinking it wasn't worth it.

I was such a st00pid n00b. >:D

When did gil-buying start?
And did anyone ever figure out something really cool on there own, like a cool item or a badass NM that no one new about?

Serket AoE poison used to hit the entire zone of garlaige...fun for the exp pts <.>

Zoning to MH used to kick you out of PT. This is my all-time favorite fix ever...I spend a lot of time in my MH.

If there's 2 in upper, then there's six, 'cause there's two in Lower. The main Lower Auction house, and the one by the Choco stables. All four Choco stables have an auction house next to them.

I'm pretty sure there is only 3 stables, there isn't one in Ru'lude Gardens.

Port Jeuno has 1 AH, underneath the street, near the stables.

Lower Jeuno has 1 AH, which has an upper deck. It's not really 2 AHs, just an upstairs of the same AH. There is no AH near the Chocobo Stables in Lower Jeuno.

Upper Jeuno has 2 AH, one near the church, one down the stairs near the stables.

Ru'lude Gardens has 1 AH, to the left of the Palace.

That's only 5 AHs.

Valkurm Dunes was not displayed on the Title Screen.

This one changes with what you have installed, When installing, If you just install the basic ffxi and not RoZ then you won't get Valkurm Dunes in the background.

PS. You forgot Divine Veil
