Help me out! Please. I'm currently trying to gather information for the quest "An Explorer's Footsteps" I haven't finished it yet so I still don't know where many of those monuments are located. If anyone could fill me in with the detail, please do. I'll appreciate your help a lot.

[/edit] Oh, and just in case someone is curious...No, I did not write this guide to make Albergo mad....It's a coincidence![/edit off]

Updated: 28 Sep 2004 22.00 GMT+7
Adding:
- 2 Tenshodo fame related quests
- 2 quests in Selbina (Thank you, Quinsisdos, for reminding me about ?Only the Best?)
- A Discerning Eye (Kazham, Bastok, Windurst, San d'Oria)
- Replace the misspelt Allakhazam names.... boo me!

Updated: 01 Oct 2004 23.50 GMT+7
Adding:
- Digital camera trick for ?A Discerning Eye? quests. (Thanks to Fhqwghads)
- Sunsand info for ?Stardust? quest. (Thanks to Wrecgar)
- The forgotten ?The All-New C-3000? quest!! (Thanks to Wingchild)

Updated: 03 Oct 2004 12.30 GMT+7
Adding:
- BIG BOO for me!!!! Please note that "logging out" doesn't work the same way as "zoning." At first I thought it would because my LS mate can get a weather for her Carbuncle Ruby by logging out then logging back in. But as far as I have tested.....The Sunsand (Stardust Quest) doesn't allow me to pick it for the 2nd time after I logged! Therefore, I'll update everything I've been saying about "logging and zoning" to "zoning" only. I'm sorry about this mistake >.<;;
- A Job For the Consortium quest is also added. (Thanks to Shassa for reminding me and for the info)
- Additional information for 4 quests (Thanks to Shassa also :-) ) as follows;
- Goumet (Bastok) : The new, easier to remember formular for time, 6-12-18
- Siren's Tear (Bastok) : You also can't equip any Ranged weapon or Ammo when you try to pick the tear.
- The Postman Always KOs Twice (Windy) : Turning in 1 piece of letter at a time will gain youless money but more fame.
- Feather's in One's Cap (Windy) : The "Giant Bird Feather" not only drop from those mobs, but can also be stolen. Use the thf's skill wisely (they aggro by SIGHT) and you can steal the Feather off them without fighting.

Updated: 07 Oct 2004 16.50 GMT+7
Adding:
- Selbina's Crawlers Nest Map quest. It's repeatable (17 times) with various destinations. It also gives good amount of gil if you don't pay for your transportation. (Thanks to Avoklex in suggesting this quest to be added)
- Level 60ish quest: Toraimarai Turmoil (Windurst) (Thanks Shassa for bringing it up)
- Correction to the A Feather in One's Cap quest.... Those big birds aggro by SIGHT, not sound. Boo me again!! ack!
- Stardust and Feather in One's Cap quests require you to zone before turning in the next piece of item.

List of Repeatable Quests: 3in1 Guide for Beginners
Fame & Money & small EXP Especially good for beginners!

First off, if you spot any error in it or want me to add/alter something, please let me know. I?ll try to make the best for my guide.

Information Source: Allakhazam.com database & my memory.

Disclaimers:
This guide is meant to emphasize on REPEATABLE quests which you can do for your fame and small money. As a solo low level player, most of the time the monsters that read ?Decent Challenge? and ?Easy Prey? are good for your ?safety-first? exp gaining. Even Match and above are sometimes good to fight, but they take more effort and time in killing, so I intend to recommend only DC and EP monsters in my guide.

This guide does not tell you how to make the BEST money from items, but to gain both Fame and Money at the same time, plus low EXP as a by-product. Some items may sell at better price as a stack in the AH, but AH can?t gain you fame.

Some items and monsters can be found in several places, but this guide will try to mention only the nearby areas, because at the beginning levels, it is not easy to travel across the continent to hunt for items and then back to turn them in.

Monsters suggested for hunting items may vary in level, so while some are Easy Prey, a few might be Too Weak. Therefore, level suggestion here is only for ?in general? cases, not all case. Also, these monsters may give low exp, might be from 15 ? 72 exp. But in my opinion, while you farm for Fame, low exp is better than no exp at all. Right? :)
However, I may not be very accurate on the monster?s level range, because I use Allakazham?s monster guide as a guideline and adjust the range in this list by using my rough memory.

Finally, I?m sorry but I am not quite sure how should I sort my quests for each country. So, I?ll try to sort it by general level of the mobs.

*Important*
Make sure you get Signet casted on you everytime you're going out to hunt. Because Easy Preys also give you Crystals. And since easy preys are easy to kill, making the battle very short, it is the best monsters range to farm Crystals.

? Bastok Fame

Quest Name: Buckets of Gold
NPC: Foss / Bastok Markets @ (F-7) at Firewater Circle
Items: 5 Rusty Bucket (300 gil)
Location: anywhere, by fishing
Monsters: none
Restrictions: You can get Rusty Buckets from AH or by Fishing only. No monster drops this, as far as I know.

Quest Name: Siren's Tear
NPC: Wahid / Bastok Mines @ (I-8) near the AH stairs
Items: 1 Siren's Tear (rare) (150 gil)
Location: North Gustaberg (on the right side, accessible via Port Bastok) The item is a target marked ???. It will randomly spawn in the tiny, short river in North Gustaberg (the first bridge you run into when you enter the map from Port Bastok.) You must not have anything (i.e. weapon/shield/ranged/ammo) in your main hand and sub hand and ranged+ammo, or it won't let you pick it up.
Monsters: none
Restrictions: You can only carry 1 piece of this item at a time. So you need to do a lot of running. But if you have finished the Flower Girl quest ("A Lady's Heart" from Valah Molkot in Post Bastok @ (J-12) requiring a flower named Amarillis) you can use the Mog House warp trick to save your time and distance by running into your Mog house in Bastok Mines and exit in Port Bastok, then run out to get the item, come back to Port Bastok into Mog mouse to exit into Bastok Mines.

Quest Name: Breaking Stones
(This quest will make Wahid stop giving you Siren's Tear quest)
NPC: Horatius / inside trader's house in Bastok Markets @ (I-9)
Items: 1 Dangruf Stone (rare) (ex) (400 gil)
Location: Dangruf Wadi @ (I-5)/(J-5)
A ??? target will appear there on sunny day.
Monsters: none
Restrictions: Again, this is a dangerous area. You can get aggroed everywhere if you're lower than 15. Even if you're 20 or above, some monsters in this map will still aggro you. (There are goblin leecher, mugger, and gambler)

Quest Name: Minesweeper
NPC: Gerbaum / Bastok Mines @ (F-8) near the entrance area of Zeruhn Mines
Items: 3 Zeruhn Soot (150 gil)
Location: Zeruhn Mines ONLY
Monsters: Tunnel Worm (lv 1-4)
Ding Bats (lv 1-6)
Mouse Bat (lv 2-8)
Other monsters INSIDE Zeruhn Mines may drop the soot as well.
Restrictions: If you're unlucky, Zeruhn Soot might not seem to drop frequently. Anyway, this is a good place to level up from level 1-8) Trading can be repeated immediately, no need for zoning or waiting.

Quest Name: A Flash in the Pan
NPC: Aquilina / in a trader's house in Bastok Markets @ (K-9)
Items: 4 Flint Stones (100 gil)
Location: South Gustaberg, North Gustaberg, Konschtat Highlands
Monsters: Tunnel Worm (lv 1-3)
Stone Eater (lv 3-7)
Stone Eater [on the Hill in S.Gusta & N.Gusta] (lv 5-9)
Rock Eater (lv 9-16) [Konschtat Highlands]
Restrictions: only 1 person can trade a set of flints in every 15 minutes

Quest Name: Gourmet
NPC: Salimah / in trader's house in Bastok Markets @ (L-8)
Items: 1 Treant Bulbs [recommended] (200 gil at 6.00 - 11.59 of the day)
1 Wild Onion (350 gil at 12.00 - 17.59 of the day)
1 Sleepshroom [not recommended] (200 gil at 18.00 - 5.59 of the day)
Location: South Gustagerg, North Gustaberg, Konschtat Highlands
Monsters: Treant Bulbs: Walking Sapling (lv 3-9)
Strolling Sapling (lv 7-12)
Wild Onion: Goblin Thug (lv 3-11)
Goblin Weaver (lv 3-11)
Sleepshroom: Cave Funguar (lv 10-12) in Palborough Mines
Restrictions: Easier time formular for remember: 6-12-18. Must zone out and come back to make next trade, otherwise she would not give you the quest again and wouldn't accept your item. Each type of item has its own time, if you trade them at wrong time, she'll reward you only 100 gil. You can check the type of item that she currently needs by talking to her daughter, she'll say the name of the item.

Quest Name: Smoke on the Mountain
NPC: Hungry Wolf / Metalworks (2nd floor inside craftman's eatery room) @ (G-9)
Items: 1 Galkan Sausage (300 gil)
Made from putting 1 "Giant Sheep Meat" in the fire at goblin camp on a small hill in South Gustaberg @ (K-9)
Location: South Gustaberg, North Gustaberg
Monsters: Ornery Sheep (lv 5-10)
Mad Sheep (lv 10-14)
Restrictions: The meat needs to sit in the fire for 1 game day (1 hour real life) to turn into Sausage. You cannot leave the map (zone to other map) before you collect it from the fire, or the meat WILL disappear. You can, however, log out from the game (staying in South Gustaberg) and log in to collect it later. However, when it comes to trading the item, the quest is repeatable WITHOUT zoning or waiting required.

Quest Name: The Cold Light of the Day
NPC: Malene / inside a house in Bastok Markets @ (I-5)
Items: (requires a Quus (a fish) to pop the mob)
1 Steam Clock (rare) (500 gil)
Location: South Gustaberg @ (M-10) Behind the Light House
Monsters: Bubbly Bernie (force-pop NM) (lv 10-12)
You can make it spawn by trading a Quus to the ??? target right behind the building. It might be hard for solo if you're lower than 12. (I used to see a lv 10 BLM die from fighting this crab)
Restrictions: You can carry only 1 piece of this clock at a time. So you'll need a partner or warp spell or need to run a helluva long way. Some technique in doing this quest can be found in allakhazam.com quest guide, here http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests.html?realm=Bastok&fquest=88

Quest Name: Bite the Dust
NPC: Yazan / Port Bastok @ (H-6)
Items: 1 Sand Bat Fang (350 gil)
Location: Valkurm Dunes
Monsters: Sand Bats (lv 13-17)
Restrictions: Sand Bat Fang does not drop very easily. Trading is repeatable WITHOUT zoning or waiting.

Quest Name: Stardust
NPC: Baldric / Bastok Metalworks @ (G-9) first floor, inside Darksteel Forge room.
Items: 1 Sun Sand (300 gil)
Location: Valkurm Dunes on the beach east from Selbina.
During a sand storm, a ??? target will appear beside the wrecked boat on the beach. You can pick it only once if you don?t change map. (Confirmed that you can pick the sand again within the same storm if you zone before retrying (*I have tested the method in my theory...log out instead of zone in Selbina....but it doesn't work. The game remembered that I didn't zone and won't allow me to pick new sand >.<;;))
Monsters: none
Restrictions: The area is quite dangerous so if you're below level 15, you may not want to go. You must also wait for the Earth Weather for the Sand to spawn. For the turning-in the sand, you also have to zone and re-accept the quest before you can give the next pinch of sand to him.

Quest Name: Fallen Comrade
NPC: Pavvke / in a house on lower level in Bastok Mines @ (I-7)
Items: Silver Name Tag (550 gil)
Location: Palborough Mines
Monsters: Greater Quadav (lv 14-25)
Onyx Quadav (lv 14-25)
Restrictions: Quadavs in the Palborough Mines have very large range of level. And the area is crowded by Quadavs. You have high chance of getting scrummed by the army of Quadavs. The Tag is not a regular drop.

Quest Name: Vengeful Wrath
NPC: Goraow / in a doorway on the upper level of Bastok Mines @ (I-6)
Items: Quadav Helm (900 gil)
Location: South & North Gustaberg, Konschtat Highland, Palborough Mines, etc.
Monsters: Monstes in Quadav family.
Amber Quadav, Young Quadav, Amethyst Quadav (lv 3-10)
Greater Quadav, Onyx Quadav, Veteran Quadav (lv 14-25)
Restrictions: Quadav Helm isn't a regular drop. It may take a long time to find one.

? Windurst Fame

Quest Name: Something Fishy
NPC: Tokaka / Port Windurst @ (C-8) on the bridge at Fisherman's Guild
Items: 1 Barstore Sardine (70 gil)
Location: Port Windurst or any Sea-Water area where you can fish Sardines
Monsters: none
Restrictions: You must fish for this fish in sea-water (or buy them from AH) And you need to zone before you can repeat the quest, so it could be boring from all the running. However, it's a nice way to make some gil and fame if you do fishing.

Quest Name: Mandragora-Mad
NPC: Yoran-Oran / Windurst Walls @ (E-5) in house marked "Yoran-Oran Manor"
Items: 1 Four-Leaf mandragora bud (rare)(ex) (120 gil)
1 Three-Leaf mandragora bud (rare)(ex) (1,200 gil)
1 Cornette (200 gil)
1 Yuhtunga Sulfur (ex)(rare) (250 gil)
1 Snobby Letter (ex)(rare) [lv 60ish mob in Boyahda Tree](5,500 gil)
Location: East & West Sarutabaruta, Tahrongi Canyon, Buburimy Peninsula, Yuhtunga & Yhoator Jungles
Monsters: 4-Leaf Bud: Mandragora (lv 5-10)
Pygmaioi (lv 8-12)
Sylvestre (lv 15-20)
3-Leaf Bud: Yuhtunga Mandragora (lv 29-35)
Yhoator Mandragora (lv 35-40)
Cornette: Mandragora (lv 5-10)
Yuh. Sulfer: Mandragora (lv 5-10)
Pygmaioi (lv 8-12)
Sylvestre (lv 15-20)
Restrictions: Most items are (rare) and (ex) so you can only carry one of each type at a time and can't buy them from the AH or anywhere, except Cornette.

Quest Name: Teacher's Pet
NPC: Moreno-Toeno / Windurst Water @ (L-6) inside Aurastery
Items: 1 Two-Leaf Mandragora Bud (rare)(ex) AND 1 Bird Feather (250 gil)
Location: West & East Sarutabaruta, Tahrongi Canyon, Buburimu Peninsula
Monsters: 2-Leaf Bud: Tiny Mandragora (lv 1-3)
Mandragora (lv 5-10)
Pygmaioi (lv 8-12)
Sylvestre (lv 15-20)
Bird Feather: Carrion Crow (lv 3-8)
Akbaba (lv 9-15)
Zu (lv 20-25)
Restrictions: While you can stock up the feather, you can't stock the Mandy Bud because it's (rare) so you can carry only one at a time. However, that should not be a problem, just remember to run in to trade for quest once you obtain one. This may consume a bit of your time but getting some fame while leveling up isn't a bad idea.

Quest Name: In a Pickle
NPC: Chamama / Windurst Waters (north) @ (F-10) inside Rarab's Tail
Items: 1 Smooth Stone (rare) (ex) (Bone Hairpin or 200 gil)
Location: East Sarutabarura, West Sarutabaruta
Monsters: Crawlers (lv 5-10)
Restrictions: You can carry only 1 piece of this item at a time. And sometimes when you give her the stone, she may say it's too light or too heavy and won't reward you. So, if you're not lucky, you may have to run back and forth killing for the stone more than 1 time. The first time you successfully give her the stone, she'll give a Bone Hairpin to you, and if you repeat the quest again, she'll reward you 200 gil.

Quest Name: Creepy Crawlies
NPC: Illu Bohjaa / Windurst Woods @ (H-6) in the area of Dhalmel Farm
Items: 3 Crawler Calculus (600 gil)
3 Silk Thread [not recommended!] (600gil)
Location: West Sarutabaruta, East Sarutabaruta
Monsters: Crawlers (lv 5-10)
Restrictions: Can immediately repeat the quest (no need for zoning/waiting.) Be careful not to trade her the Silk Thread because it's like 10k a stack?. Though I recommend fame over AH money, trading Silk Thread to NPC for 2400gil a stack will make our hearts (and pockets) broke.

Quest Name: Paying Lip Service
NPC: Tapoh Lihzeh / Windurst Woods @ (I-8)
Items: 3 Beehive Chip (150 gil)
2 Remi Shell (200 gil)
Location: West Sarutabaruta, East Sarutabaruta
Monsters: Giant Bee (lv 5-10)
River Crab (lv 3-8)
Restrictions:

Quest Name: Say It With Flower
NPC: Moari-Kaaori / Windurst Waters @ (C-9) inside a house
Items: 1 Tahrongi Cactus (rare)(ex) (Iron Sword or 400 gil)
1 Lilac (unknown)
Location: Rhinostery (Wind Waters H-12) to ask for the flower's name
Tahrongi Canyon @ (F-6) for Tahrongi Cactus
Monsters: none
Restrictions: In the canyon at F-6 there is a target named "Tahrongi Cacti. When you click on it, it will give you a Tahrongi Cactus, which you can carry only 1 piece at a time. So you have to run a very long, long way (or use Warp spell) to repeat it. My advice is to pick a Cactus whenever you pass by near the area, then turn it in for quest whenever you go to Windurst. The first time you finish the quest he'll give you a sword, and after that he'll give 400gil.

Quest Name: The All-New C-2000
NPC: Kopuro-Popuro / Windurst Woods @ (H-10) inside Manustery building
Items: 1 Insect Wing AND 1 Rabbit Hide AND 1 2-Leaf Mandragora Bud (200 gil)
Location: East & West Sarutabaruta, Tahrongi Canyon, Buburimu Peninsula
Monsters: Insect Wing: Bumble Bee (lv 1-3)
Giant Bee (lv 5-10)
Killer Bee (lv 8-12)
Rabbit Hide: Savanna Rarab (lv 1-7)
Canyon Rarab (lv 7-12)
Mighty Rarab (lv 15-20)
2-Leaf Bud: Tiny Mandragora (lv 1-3)
Mandragora (lv 5-10)
Pygmaioi (lv 8-12)
Sylvestre (lv 15-20)
Restrictions: Apart from the 2-Leaf Bud being (Rare)(ex) I don't think there's any restriction here. I haven't done the quest yet so I don't know if you need to wait or zone before the NPC let you repeat the quest.

Quest Name: The All-New C-3000 (Pre-requisite: The All-New C-2000)
NPC: Kopuro-Popuro / Windurst Woods @ (H-10) inside Manustery building
Items: 1 Beetle Shell AND 1 Hecteyes Eye (600 gil)
Location:
Beetle Shell:
East & West Ronfaure, Palborough Mines, Inner Horutoto Ruins, Ordelle Caves,
Jugner Forest, Garlaige Citadel, Meriphataud Mountains, Carpenter?s Landing
Hecteyes Eye:
Ranguemont Pass, Attohwa Chasm, Shakrami Maze, Eldieme Necropolis
Monsters:
Beetle Shell: Scarab Beetle (lv 4-8) [Ronf.]
Copper Beetle (lv 10-14) [Palbo.]
Beady Beetle (lv 12-18) [Inner Horu.]
Stag Beetle (lv 20-23) [Meriph.]
Dung Beetle (lv 23-26) [Ordelle]
Diving Beetle (lv 25-28) [Carpentr.]
Goliath Beetle (lv 29-31) [Ordelle]
Borer Beetles (lv 41-44) [Garlaige.]
Goblins Beetle (lv 23-57) [Jugner.& Sauromugue.]
Hecteyes: Hecteyes (lv 31-34) [Attohwa.]
Argus (NM) (lv 36-37) [Shakrami.]
Taisai (lv 35-38) [Ranguemont.]
Gazer (lv 41-43) [Eldieme.]
Restrictions: Requires fame. Also definitely not a task for lower level who solo. Since those lower level Beetles don?t seem to drop the Shell often, and the Hecteyes are level 30 and above, my suggestion is to collect items that you ?accidentally? obtain during Party battles and save them for turning-in later when you visit Windurst.

Quest Name: The Postman Always K.O.s Twice
NPC: Ambrosius / Windurst Walls @ (J-12) near the Auction House
Items: 1 Muddy Bar Tab (rare)(ex) [Found in East Sarutabaruta only]
1 Torn Epistle (rare)(ex) [Found in West Sarutabaruta only]
1 Odd Postcard (rare)(ex) [Found in Tahrongi Canyon only]
1 Damp Envelope (rare)(ex) [Found in Tahrongi Canyon only]
(1 item = 50gil, 2 items = 150gil, 3 items = 250gil, 4 items = 500gil)
Location: East Sarutabaruta, West Sarutabaruta, Tahrongi Canyon
Monsters: Savanna Rarab (lv 1-7)
Canyon Rarab (lv 7-12)
Restrictions: Since you can carry only 1 piece of each item, it's best to max out the gil reward by collecting all 4 of them and trade all at once. However, if you prefer more fame than money, trading them 1 by one will gain you more fame. Would be a good idea to stop by and hunt some rarabs in Tahrongi and Sarutabaruta everytime you pass by or run to Windurst, then trade the items.

Quest Name: A Crisis in the Making
NPC: Ranpi-Monpi / Windurst Waters @ (D-9) in the Culinary Guild
Items: 1 Off Offering (rare) (ex) (400gil) in Storage Room at (F-7), basement area
Location: Giddeus, accessible via West Sarutabaruta
Monsters: none, but the area is level 5-12
Restrictions: You can carry only 1 piece of this item at a time. So, if you want to repeat it, you'll need to make another run. Make sure you get some other Windurst Quest which involves Giddeus too, because that will save your time. And although you don't have to kill those Yagudos to make them drop the item, they might aggro you and mob you up. Make sure you go to the correct place or you might run into some Yagudos which are higher levels (like 15-25). See Allakazham guide for detail http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests.html?realm=Windurst&fquest=117

Quest Name: Water Way to Go
NPC: Dohbiru / Windurst Waters @ (J-9)
Items: a container will be given to you, you go fill it up and trade him the water-filled container (900 gil)
Location: Giddeus, either one of the 2 springs (E-12) and (K-12)
Monsters: none
Restrictions: This is a good quest to get if you know you're going into Giddeus. Yagudos will aggro you if they're "Easy Prey" or above, so please be careful.

Quest Name: Hat in Hand
NPC: Baren-Moren / Windurst Waters @ (H-7) inside the store marked "Barren-Moren Mad Hetter"
Items: You'll be given a key item (not in inventory list, but in "Key Item" list) called "New Hat Model" or something like that. Then everytime you talk to an NPC in Windurst Waters, you'll get a message saying you "showed off the hat model" meaning you have advertised the hat to that NPC. The reward will be either money, up to 300 gil or Windshear Hat (rare)(ex), depending on how many NPC you talked to.
Location: Windurst Waters north, and Windurst Waters south ONLY. If you zone into other map or into your Mog House, the quest will be reset and you'll have to start from 1 NPC again.
Monsters: none
Restrictions: Extremely time-consuming and requires a hell lot of running. See detail at http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/quests.html?realm=Windurst&fquest=1 The reward of this quest may not worth your time, but it's a required quest if you want to do "A Feather in One's Cap" quest (good for lv 25 and up).

Quest Name: A Feather in One's Cap
NPC: Baren-Moren / Windurst Waters @ (H-7) same as above
Items: 3 Giant Bird Feather (1,500 gil)
Location: Meriphataud Mountains (15-30), Sauromugue Champaign (20-45)
Monsters: Axe Beak (lv 25-28) (Meriphataud M.)
Tabar Beak (lv 34-37) (Sauromugue C.)
Restrictions: Ack! It's not quite a quest for beginner? But well, if your level is around early-20's and you have a few friends who want to party for EXP in Meriphataud, it could be a nice idea to grab some of those big birds and get the Feathers for your quest. The area is quite dangerous. However, if you are a THF and have hiding skill, this task is much easier. These mobs aggro by SIGHT, so use your skill well and steal the feather off them. Good luck! As for the turning-in the feather, you have to zone between turns.

Quest Name: Twinstone Bonding (Requires some fame)
NPC: Gioh Ajihri / Windurst Wood @ (K-5)
Items: 1 Twinstone Earring (Wrapped Bow or 900 gil)
Location: Meriphataud Mountains
Monsters: Hill Lizard
Restrictions: You need to zone out and return in order to repeat the trade. Oh, and the Earring isn't a regular drop. It may take time to find one.

Quest Name: [Yelllow]Toraimarai Turmoil[/Yellow] (Requires level 65 or above to kill the monster)
NPC: Ohbiru-Dohbiru / Windurst Waters @ (J-9)
Items: 3 Starmite Shell (4,500 gil)
Location: Toraimarai Canal
Monsters: Starmite (lv 65-67)
Restrictions: Now, this is a ?real? high-level repeatable?.

? San d'Oria Fame

Quest Name: The Rivalty / The Competition
NPC: Gallijaux OR Joulet / Port San d'Oria @ (H-8) on a pier at the water front
Items: 1 Moat Carp (100 gil)
Location: Port San d'Oria or anywhere with fresh water for Moat Carp fishing
Monsters: none
Restrictions: You can gain only 1200gil from 1 stack of Moat Carp from the quest, while AH sells them for 4000 per stack. Well, but if you're ambitious to get a Lu Shang's Fishing Rod from this quest, the NPC will reward you with that Rod once you give him 10,000 Moat Carps (accumulative.) Excellent, Rate Up

Just to add, the huy in Selbina who wants Boyhada Moss, just trade him a few stacks (8k from AH, you get 7.2k in rewards) to raise both Sandy and Bastok fame at the same time. Perfect for those SMNs wanting to do their 20 fights ^^

It is rumorred that this quest negatively affects your Norg fame however. I am not sure if this is confirmed, but perhaps someone can comment.

Thank you all, I appreciate your kind words. Such an encouragement! I'll add something new to this guide, like the "Only The Best" quest (Thanks to Quinsisdos for reminding me, I totally forgot about it!), Discerning Eyes quest, and Tenshodo repeatable quests some time later.

Oh, and as Baron von UberJerry mentioned about the Selbina's Only The BEst quest effecting Norg fame.....I am curious too! I am not very up-to-date to such rumors so I have no idea.
Anyone who has insight on this matter please let us know.

Or if my connection restores soon I'll head out to test it.

I believe the Boyahda Moss quest DOES effect Norg fame negativley. So the best way is to cap Sandy and Bastok fame on this, then do the Norg quests.

Rate-up for a great guide.

Excellent job. I especially like the downloadable version, because I print up a lot of the stuff here on Alla and this makes it easy.

Other guide writers, take note!

Thanks Aleczan.

Nice work!

On the Stardust quest for Bastok where you need to get Sunsand from Valkurm.
The sand does appear with the earth elemental weather. You can also get it as many times as you want during that same weather pattern but you must zone after each time you get it.

I had alot of time on my hands sitting in Valkurm for hours on end trying to lvl THF that was under lvl15 at the time... lol

Can anyone else confirm how many stacks of millicorn ned to be traded in to max the fame out in Jeuno, Bastok, and San d'Oria for the "Only The Best" quest in Selbina? I have traded 50 stacks so far (200 trades total) and I only have lvl 6 fame in all three of those cities. DId I not get enough or something or is the fame system nerfed after these recent patches? Any info would be great. Thanks in advance

Just like to add a nice little tip for the "Discerning Eye" quests. Some people have a photographic memory, others (like me), do not. If you don't have a photographic memory, do the next best thing and take a photo of the screen using a digital camera (if you have one of course). My digital camera has a little preview window on the back, and I have yet to pick the wrong NPC because I have an image of the NPC everytime.

This guide actually completely misses the best Windurst repeatable quest -- The All New C-3000 -- a repeatable you can get around Fame 5, notable for being a repeatable where you can purchase all of the supplies for it from the Auction House and actually make money off it (I know, such a rare thing, that).

Thank you.

Chef !
You're welcome and thanks! Glad my file is helpful.

Wrecgar
Thank you for the info, I'll add that into the guide next time I update.

Fhqwghads
Ahh, excellent trick. Thank you. I'll remember to add that too.

Avoklex
I have heard that once you're high rank in fame (like lv6) this quest seems to give less fame. I am not sure, though.
And as far as I remember, it's for Bastok & Sandy.

Wingchild !!!
Yes I totally forgot anout it. Must have overlooked it in the Allakhazam quest list. ^^;;
I'll add that quest too. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

But now it's my bed time...Good night everyone.
Thanks again for your kind words, compliments, suggestions, and your help in spotting errors.

Hi Aleczan... its been quite a while since we last saw each other in-game ^^ I originally posted this on the Sylph board but then realized that it should really go here.

Your guide is beyond excellent, I applaud all the work that you have put into it. Being a quest junkie myself, I do have some odds and ends to add:

Siren's Tear: You also are not allowed to hold a ranged weapon or even ammo if you want to pick up the tear. I made this mistake once.

Gourmet: it's good to remember 6-12-18. At 6:00-11:59 Treant Bulbs can be given for 200 gil, at 12:00-17:59 Wild Onions can be given for 350 gil, and at 18:00-5:59 Sleephshrooms can be given for 200 gil. Of course, trading in items at an incorrect time will net you 100 gil instead.

The Postman always K.O.s Twice: Your recommendation of turning in all four letters at once is only applicable if you want to maximize your gil. If the fame is more important, turn the letters in seperately.

A Feather in One's Cap: The Giant Bird Feathers can also be stolen off the Axe Beaks and Tabar Beaks as well, making this easier to do. Note that these creatures are sight only, making it possible to Hide from them as per the Thief job ability. Also, this is another quest where you have to zone to repeat it.

And one repeatable quest that is not on your list at all...

A Job for the Consortium: Starts from the NPC Portaure, in Port Sandoria Warehouse A. This is the infamous "smuggling" quest and requires an airship pass. It's easy but risky: once accepting the quest and thus getting the "Brugaire Goods" (a key item) just hop the airship to Jeuno. You have a 50/50 shot now, in my experience, and it's all luck... either A) you succeed, getting by customs... you then talk to the Mithra downstairs in Tenshodo HQ and deliver the package. Returning to Portaure nets you 1000 gil and that coveted Tenshodo fame. Or B) you get caught when you reach Jeuno. You not only fail the quest and have to try again but also your airship pass is suspended for 24 real-life hours. Ouch!
