Ok, I've tried Holla once, and Dem once. Failed both times for the same reason.

People ACCIDENTALLY warped to the previous floor. Even with all the other members spamming "DONT WARP!! DOOONT WARP!!!!"
Anywho, last night another member decides we have to go back for the 3 fools who warped. I was thinking, "No way in hell!" With those three, it would end of 2 pts with 5, and one with 6. No chance of beating BC. Without them, we'd have around 2 full, balanced PTs. So, I stay behind next to the 3rd MR. Everyone else goes back for the other 3 and all die on the way back.

My strategy for beating the MRs, all the SMNs and BLMs attack. Then, anyone with Utsusemi meelee the thing. They fall back when below 100 HP, or get any Stray aggro. The fights went easy, no deaths. Ever. Like I said, only one reason..

Anyone on Gilgamesh, never, EVER invite Rex or his sister E****a (user requested name to be removed) to a Promyvion outing. It's gauranteed death

I just finished Dem with DRashogar and as he mentioned in was a pain. We started out with 18 people and 17 people made it to the BCNM. All three parties went and our party was the only one to succeed. I was the PLD and was the 2nd or 3rd one to drop. I never even had time to 2 Hour. With two members left i wasnt very optimistic but the SMN came through with his 2 hours and the mob dropped. Very fun quest and i cant wait to attack the rest of them.

What I've seen is the key to winning these Promyvions are rangers that can swap hate back and forth and keep utsusemi up, medicines depending on what you're fighting, and one or more smns for the insane astral flow. I think the best possible alliance would be twelve rangers, five smn/whms, and a whm/nin. whm/nin tags along for raising

I heard that once you had completed all of the promyvions and gotten all of the "Light of dem", light of holla, etc you cannot go back, ever. Do you just need to wipe your memory or is it true?

What are the major benefits for going into Promyvion? Is it just a pass to Tavnasia, or are there any other benefits? This area was supposed to be "Dynamis' little brother", so I was hoping for some kind of low-level equivilant to AF, pre-release. Well, guess that is just a dream, but it would have been cool. Anythinfg else that I should know about as far as rewards for taking on this (apparent from above posts) incredibly difficult quest?

However, this mob is DEFINITELY weak to Thunder. We pulled off a killer SC with Berserk+Frostbite -> Mighty Strikes+Berserk+Sneak Attack+Sturmwid = Fragmentation bursted with Thundaga. That did about 1200 damage total, and knocked a good chunk of the HP bar off.

How did you burst with a level 36 spell?

After weeks and weeks of experiments I've come to the conclusion that the thesis of your hypothesis is so long that I won't bother reading all this so could someone paraphrase this essay/novel?

It doesnt matter what lvl spell you use. Any level spell can burst with the correct skillchain.

anyone know the answer to my previous question?

Completely false, I completed Holla on Saturday night and helped another alliance with it on Sunday night.

I think he's referring to how a lvl 36 spell was used in a lvl 30 capped zone.

I take it that the author of the comment meant thunder

Just a quick queston for those who got the terroanima item-
Did you have to vist all 3 Promyvions before the scientist would allow the option to trade the recollections?

I have 2 Recollections and have attempeted to trade them, but he just keeps repeating the line "Emptiness..Weakness.."

Am I missing something really obvious here?

Thank you for your time and great post! Keep up the good work ^_^

We had a level 61 Rank 6 WHM who had done all the subquests and couldn't figure out why she couldn't do the AnimaQuest from the Guy.

Our best guess (as she has since been able to do it) is you must first be in a fight with one of the Endbosses before you get the "quest" to make a Hyper/terro/psychoAnima.

If anyone knows a bunch of people who havn't done this yet (my list is getting short both happily and sadly) and can test this theory I'd be grateful.

Oh, another thing I thought of. Alot of people don't know this (hell i barely figured it out) but if you are in progress of doing a Promyvion, say Mea, and you warp/port/get out without Erasing your memories, if you want to get back in you can just walk up to the Cermet Gate and it will open for you, don't need to get memories erased, then watch the cutscene again to get back in.

I'd also be happy for a rateup, since I'm an attention ***** ^^

I've talked to numerous people about the subject and almost everyone who has attempted (successfully) any of the Promyvion BCNM Battles with a Sub-Optimum group has told me that the way they managed to do it was by Kiting.

This kiting serves two main purposes. Alot of the Bosses TP attacks can be avoided by being out of range. It seems that most of them have a very small range and it is possible to get "So and So was out of range" simply by kiting the mob in a circle.

Secondly, you take less damage if the mob is out of melee range. Most of the bosses have very slow hard hitting melee attacks, so if you can be out of range for any amount of time, you can have a very good chance of winning.

If you have a good party setup, kiting wont be necessary, but if you think your group might not be the best, or you lose people to strays on the level 3 teleporter, you might try Kiting as your first defense.

A thought. I am an alchemist, and I was thinking; One of the guys who helps give the quest is an alchemist. So I think maybe alchemy will be of help during these boss battles? You say the boss steals buffs. Why not bring some potions? Like posion (perhaps even vitriol?), silenceing, and paralyzing potions? Have your main tank drink them, and engage the boss, he will steal the buffs paralyze, posion and silence? Can the boss steal food? If not, then get your buffs through +1 foods. Perhaps a well supplied group with white mage subs for self healing could pingpong the boss around while applying the anima debuffs.

A question hopefully someone can answer. I've seen the swirling vortex in Valkurm. It was an eerie site but cool nonetheless. I've not seen the one in Qufim. But as the OP states: It's for teleporting to Lufaise Medows.

My question is, in Crawlers Nest near the Secret Room (not in the secret room-but directly across from it)if you look UP you see some weird swirling blackness (almost as though you were seeing a vortex from underneath it) as though the vortex was one floor above you or some such thing.

What is that? Does it have anything to do with the other vortexes? Am I paranoid? Am I seeing things? Just curious.

3. Choose your party configuration CAREFULLY! One party in our group did this with 5 people but don't be foolish and assume you can wint with a bad setup. The optimal party I would recommend for Dem is:

NIN/WAR
NIN/WAR
RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN
RDM/WHM
WHM/BLM

The reason for this is BLM's do terrible damage to the Dem boss. Our BLM's found that their spells were resisted a TON. For that reason I would suggest using a RDM for ES + Gravity and kiting the mob with the two NIN's. If you can't find 2 RNG's I would also suggest a good SMN to use their 2 hour twice during the last 20%. Ramuh supposedly deals very good damage to the bcnm boss in Dem.
...

Good post. ^^
However, I think you made a mistake in RDM sub. RDM/WHM cannot ES + Gravity.
I'm not trying to pick on your mistake. I'm researching and learning so it will be easier when I do it.

Great point - I'll correct.

Hard to cast Gravity with a WHM sub since its Black Magic.

My point was you need highest enfeeble cap to actually land the Gravity on the boss.
