Hit the wall. It was a strong wall. Didn't budge. Hurt like hell to hit. Smiley: frown

Translated, that means I've gotten to burn-out stage with FFXI. I haven't played since Saturday Night, and only then for a couple of hours. Before Saturday, it had been a couple of days since I had last played.

And I'm not really missing it. Smiley: frown

Was getting to the point where it wasn't really fun anymore, was almost a chore to sign on. That's not what games are supposed to be.

Not a fault of the game or the way it's designed.

Maybe I just need a break, purge the ol' mind, and come back refreshed and ready to conqeour Vana'Diel again.

I was getting annoyed at the little things that never bothered me before.. spam shouting, annoying players, idiots..

I'm extremely thankful to all those that stood by Lady and myself and fought to get the Server Forums.

A hearty HUZZAH to you all.

I'll be popping in and out of the forums.

Hopefully this won't last long and I'll be back ready to play soon.

If not, maybe see some of you during the Wish beta.

Be back soon, I hope.

I hit the same wall... then I restarted my character. Sure, it might have been a drastic move, and I lost a lot of work... but it gave me something to do in the game, a totally different direction and the benefit of everything I've learned in the game to work on a character that did everything RIGHT.

Now, months later, I've caught up to where I was before and I have a ton of things to do, plus I have a ton of new friends (most of my old friends quit :( )

Seoman..Sorry to hear that you are so worn. I appreciate all you and Lady did to get the server forums going. Take care, and drop in. We will be waiting for your return.

I, too, also hit this wall but a couple months ago. I meant to

sign back on after a couple of weeks but the minute I logged in

I lost the Vana'Diel charm. When I first purchased this game,

my first MMORPG, I was wide-eyed, eager to play through

Vana'Diel, eager to journey through this wonderful fantasy

land, see the exotic places and meet with awesome people. For a

while it was good... But after leveling a character to 30 I

needed a break. This game has lost its luster and its power to

captivate, in my eyes. Don't play this game unless it's fun.

It's the same for me. Other games, like Call of Duty, are more appealing right now. Especially when facing the prospect of having to get...the hellish fourty equipment for MNK...gah...oh well.

Hope you come back with new eyes and fresh spirit for the game. While I've only seen you in-game, and we've never really talked. You were the first person from here on Ala that I saw in game, and it made me feel oddly more connected to the community. It was good to know you were out there on Phoenix.

Perhaps CoP will have something to bring you back...

I hit that wall. That's when I started on thief. Very fun. But then my static kept pulling at me to level WHM. Back to WHM. I hit another wall and I'm still working my way over it. I need money for WHM. Getting money is boring so I want to play other jobs. I need money to play other jobs. If I spend money on other jobs I get further away from the things I want for WHM. It's just a never ending cycle of negativity. The HNM runs have been keeping my Spirits alive, but all in all its getting kinda boring. But whatever, we're planning on doing all four gods this weekend so we'll see how things go.

Sucks, don't it Seoman?

I did the same a while ago, which is why you haven't seen me around much. Don't do anything drastic like delete your character or anything... it'd suck to have to relevel to where you were.

Hopefully, you'll come back after the break and enjoy the game again, but this seems to be something that I hear alot of people complaining about as of late. Just today I had a convo w/ a real life friend about this same subject. I doubt he'll be playing much longer...

Well, like I said, hopefully the break is what you need and you'll come back refreshed and ready to slay some stuff... if not, it was great playing with you (as little as it was). Hell, even if you do come back, since I doubt I'll be returning any time soon, it was great playing with you.

Seoman....

I've been there several times.

Take a break, a few weeks, a month, maybe.

Burnout is a *****, but it happens.

You'll be back, and having fun again, before you know it.

/salute

BTW, Seo, take a breather and start on another job. DRG is one of the hardest jobs to play and getting it even to level 50 is an accomplishment. It's hard because there's so many other Damage Dealers out there, and Dragoon and Thieves are at the bottom of people's lists. (This is true although I find it funny since DRG and THF can do Light together and gain tp faster than other DDs) Just take a breather, start a new job. Go through the newbie zones with confidence and show off some good gear. Teach a few people how to play. Start doing all the things you wanted to do when your DRG was that level. It's the best FFXI way to get rid of FFXI burn out.

Just remember, you aren't the only mid-high level that's thinking this. A lot of other mid-high levels, even high levels are thinking this, and a lot of them are good players. And when good players like you start leaving the game, the idiots start to take over. Keep playing! Do it for competance!

I'm still there, but I've found it's just as easy to just play infrequently as it is to go cold-turkey for a week or a month or whatever.

I only play now when I actually feel like it, and it makes a world of difference. I do log in very often and just chat on the LS (running the Windower makes it so I can do this and still ***** around online), or stand around and fish or something, but I only group for XP about once or twice a week - if that.
