these posts are so stupid. it's not a secret, they know, SE knows, everyone knows. They don't care about talking about it because SE doesn't care.
it's like when people tell you "that time i was going down the highway at 90 MPH." is your reaction "omg, you're so stupid, why would you tell me this, going 90 MPH is illegal, you're such a moron for talking about it."
you seem to expect them to act like drug dealers. they don't act like that because they don't feel like that, they don't think they are doing anything wrong.
they are farming for people who don't have time to farm. it's a service they provide that they have no problems with providing. it's not shameful, it's not criminal.
and SE does not and will not take action against them because they keep people playing the game. people who buy gil would quit if they couldn't buy gil. SE likes to keep these players around so they turn a blind eye to it.
the only action SE takes is when individual incidents are reported, they do that to appease the people who complain to show that "they care".
SE's got tons of stats on the economy of the game, how much currency is in circulation and all that, until their actions make a huge dent in the game economy as a whole, SE won't do anything.
that's why SE is actually after bots, because bots that work too well introduce gil into the system faster than can be removed, that's very bad.
what these people do in general don't do that, they simply continue the circulation of gil from one player to another and that alone doesn't disturb the game economy.

I'll put my 2gil in and support both the varacity of the original post and the view that, it's JUST a game.
If someone is making a living from the game I find that hard to set aside in my mind. I am playing for fun, and it is a testament to how much fun this game is that so many other people play.
It is a testamanet also, to how egotistical or lazy some people are that they feel the need to buy gil. I am not saying every single gil buyer is one of these things (some may buy it to help their friends - who can know). The main reason you buy gil I imagine, is to get something you found too hard or slow to get in-game. You may argue that the item was too hard to get BECAUSE of botters or gil-farmers or who knows what. Some people find excuses for things no matter what...
So put the factors together, fun game - some lazy people - some hard working people willing to spend 8+ hours a day farming for gil - and you have a business opportunity like it or not.
If the game has reached the point where it is no longer fun - regardless of the reason - then take a break from it. I would not blame botters or gil-farmers for not liking the game...there are plenty of things to enjoy in the game that you would not have to compete with these guys on.
I'd also like to add that in my city we have a large Indian (Asiatic) and Chinese community. Putting all political correctness aside for a moment, I will point out that these ethnic groups have an extremely high dedication to providing for their loved ones - the old are looked after far better than in many of our "western" cultures. Often the grandparents are home with the young children while the adults are all out working. No sweat shop labour here of course but the ethos remians.
Whether this leads to their propesnisty to do long hard hours for apparently minimal return I cannot say. I KNOW that the majority of Servcie stations (Gas Stations I think they are called in NA), Fast food outlets (Chinese even run many of the Kebab places now lol), Corner dairies (like 7/11 stores I think) and basically any business where long hard hours are needed, you will find Indian and Chinese people running them. I mention this, to lead into my next point..

Anyone that thinks a game remains fun when it's now your livelihood may need to think a bit longer on the subject. I'm Indonesian but Chinese descendant.
That's me ^^ I can listen but I can't speak. It's just now that Indonesia is more open and let people to learn Chinese etc. Way back, my mom reluctant to teach me Mandarin because of the racism against us. My Japanese is even much better than my Mandarin. If you know Indonesia's history then you know why my mom able to speak Mandarin fluently. My grandpa is from mainland China

this is not limited to one Server, chinese gil farmers or whatever they are, they are all over the place, i've read threads like this up and down, on Siren Server, my own server, its the "Zoe" lol you do a /sea all Zoe at anytime and theres like 15 Zoe's,

it goes on and on, and its not coincidence, last night i did a search, like 12 Zoe's were in Sauromogue Champaign, thats not coincidence, and its always like that, all in the same place.
its also not coincidence that other people are seeing these kinds of variants on the same name for 10+ characters on a server.
somethings going on, thats for sure.

I'm from Ifrit, and I've talked to manday (one of the ones in the group). Sadly, I dont have a screenshot (reformatted since then, it was a while ago). Manday was speaking in chinese to me (had a chinese friend translate a few words), and then spoke beginner's english to me. Doesnt necessarily mean he's chinese, but probable.
