I come on these boards tonight and the first few posts are about Karma and people pissed abut it and people saying this person deserves this and does not deserve that and blah blah blah. Why is it so important to you people? I mean does it really matter THAT much? ITS A FRIGGIN MESSAGE BOARD! So your name is yellow instead of dark yellow good god! I know all you Karma fools will just rate me down out of existance and you know what? I DONT GIVE A CRAP I CAN MAKE ANOTHER NAME WOOT! On this note I have 2 ideas to bring to your attention.

1. Lets actually talk about final fantasy again. This is not high school people its the message board and kissing Karma **** is not going to make you star quarterback of the football team or varsity cheerleader.

2. We need to just destroy this Karma system so we can concentrate on the game instead of drama.

I know you don't like what I have to say but I would like this FF message board to get back to FF and not stupid pointless numbers thank you for your time and attention :)

I'll say this and then not come back to this thread.

It's not about my average rating. It's about people trying to make you disappear because they don't like something about you, but they are afraid to state that it's them that's doing this in case they might not be able to back up their reasons.

They'll try and knock all of your posts below the filter so no one can read them, and never even take the time to read what you wrote.

/farewell thread

Then do as you want, but so far as I know, last I checked anyway I wasn't a sock. Not that I really care if you think I am, ask an admin to check. Not my job to prove my legitimacy, that's your job, now get cracking.

Now see, I was nice.

But that was REALLY defensive.

Note the "not that I really care" thing.

Dead give away.

If you are going to fake, then fake it right, at least.

Throw a little "l33+ sp33k" in there, it makes it more credible.

hiding post count and getting rid of rating is a good thing I guess, it may fix these stupid wars

It has been said before and it will be said again. Rating posts must be restricted only to people who have posted in the thread being rated.

So I can dumb it down? I'm sorry if im defensive. Just really tired of being called a sock puppet. Figured it was pretty clear when the issue came up with the Admin on the asylum boards...... I'm still here, and as I understand it they don't tend to last long, nor care about their karma. After all SPs can be replaced easily, but, click on my name, take a look at my charas. Not that it proves much, but I personally doubt many puppets are going to take the time to make profiles...

I just want to say a few things about this;

First, I have been in a few message boards in my time. One had these really cool mods; you had fake money you got by posting, which you could buy things like a colored name, effects on your posts, etc. You also got a certain rating based on your post count. Now, it's great to see how many posts someone has made, helps you judge how much they offer to the forum. But I think in any case, too many people just use it as a way to gain 'higher authority'.

Second, the thing I notice the most on this board that irritates me, is certain people make useless threads every couple days or so, where everyone rates each other up in the thread. It's usually a joke thread, sometimes (as I saw recently) the title was something like "Post here and I'll rate you up, cause I'm happy." Also I believe certain other people rate up friends, while not directly saying it, but expecting to be rated up in return.

Lastly, while I do think it's important to rate threads/posts based on how helpful, informative, well written etc. they are, too many times someone makes a joke or 4 word post that someone else likes and gets rated up for. Also (which has been pointed out in another thread, which I can't find now), I don't think there is any reason to say "Wow, great post, I rated you up!!". That just sounds to me like you're asking for someone to return the favor, or like you're trying to make sure they know it was you so in the future they'll be tempted to do the same for you.

Don't get me wrong, not everyone does this, and it's probably not as extreme of a problem as I'm making it to be, but I'd just like to see more informative posts and less happy fun time "let's rate everyone up" threads". (Also please note, I enjoy a good joke thread as much as everyone else, but too often I think they just turn into a useless rate-up spam thread.)

And so I don't leave without a suggestion to fix this, I'd simply say to get rid of the statuses. Leave the rating power (I assume if you have a higher rating, when you rate someone it's stronger than someone with a lower rating.), but get rid of Scholar, Sage and Guru. Leave the effect where your post goes invisible if under a certain rating though.

Edited for clarity, & added the last paragraph.

This is how I see things with my own two eyes.

I'm posting on a board. I don't care what you think, they're my opinions.. (onions? why the frick did I say onions?). Hell with karma, rate me down if you feel like it, it's not like I'll lose sleep over it. I mean there's nothing rewarding about having a red or yellow name after all.

On a side note, my butt itches. Gg

I notice that in general people get too worked up over silly things. Sit back take a deep breath... and fricking relax! Wheter its someone checking you or the silly number next to your name... no one is going to live longer or be in a history book for any of this **** so let it go! I can tell you one thing you will live longer for.... not stressing the stupid ****.

Yes i agree... these people are morons who cry and care about what their karma is on this forum haha... it sickens me to my stomache when someone is like 'why the hell did you rate me down" because it reveals to me how pathetic some people are...

if thats what people want to worry about and make important it's their life.. but in my eyes that is damn pathetic.

the only thing that kind of aggrovates me about the whole karma thing is when people post threads with only the intention of getting rated up, what is this some kind of game?
