Has that even been released yet? It might've been released in Japan, but not here in the states.

That's why we call them Imports! Smiley: grin

Two games come to mind: Xenogears! (damn they really need to followup that story line)
and E.V.O. That game was fun!

1. Chrono Trigger
2. Xenosage
3. Chrono Cross

I really hope the rumors are true that they are making a 3rd Chrono game. Since they copywrited the name Chrono Lmiit you would think so, but we'll see I guess. Hopefully some news about that at e3.

Wow...all great titles, but one i haven't seene anybody say anything about is one of my all time favorite games, not just a squaresoft game (it is) but of all time mind you.....
VAGRANT STORY!!!!!that game rocked. you got to build your own weapons (really mean ones if you played through the game more than once), the chain system kicked butt (a nice break from turn based), and the story line was excellent. by far one of the best in my opinion. Other great square titles, Xenogears, Kingdom Hearts, Parasite eve and Chrono Cross (i loved all of them)

It's called Xenosaga. Which is published by Namco rather than Square Enix (though most of the original Xenogears team is involved), and is technically not connected to the Xenogears story at all (wink wink nudge nudge). And in fact probably will end up diverging non-trivially from the Xenogears storyline.

But since Square Enix will probably never release an official Xenogears-line game, Xenosaga is as close as we'll ever get. And story-wise, it's damn good in its own right (if you liked Xenogears, that is).

Chrono Trigger is my favorite game of all time. I also liked Secret of Evermore, Secret of Mana, and Xenogears. Then Kingdom Hearts came along and now my list of favorites is messed up. I like them all, I guess.

Xenogears. Hands down.

Not only a brilliant storyline.

But a kick-glass slap your mother in the face and throw her down the stairs awesome fighting engine. It felt like a fighting game but was so pretty.

Although I wish Fei was more of a "man." EDIT: Ending scene. Yes. "Down there" man.

I honestly didn't enjoy Xenosaga THAT MUCH. I own it, but it, to me at least, PALES in comparison to Xenogears.

Crono Trigger coming in at a close second. Classic. I don't seem to have to explain myself on this one.

well to be fair xenosaga is 6 parts that will be 6 parts, so pacing is required

xenogears was massive in story but always felt rushed, i think they dreamt big for it but square never gave them enough time to do what they needed (look at disc 2) even though they broke xenogears to 6 parts i always felt they tried to cram the previus 4 parts into part 5 (assuing my numbers are correct)

xenosaga has a nice set story pacing to it, so hopefully with it we'll get the whole story and not a rushed cram job (plus xenosaga 2 will be out soon, check out the trailer! it rocks!)

Just wanted to say thank you Mithi. The reason why I haven't played ZenoSaga was because I figured Namco was ripping off the XenoGears story. But if ya say it's a good game in it's own right then maybe it is worth checking out after all. I'll go rent it and find out =)

One thing that bugged me about Xenosaga was the gears in that game. Not only did they just not seem important but when you DID use them they just...didn't seem to pack in that "Hey..this is pretty damn cool" effect.

YA the gears, or AWGS in Xenosaga werent even neccessary at all. I only used them a couple times just to try them out or if I was low on health with no way to recover.

I cant believe I forgot to mention Kingdom Hearts. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of older games. But KH is my favorite Square game and one of my top favorite games of all time.

Someone mentioned Vagrant Story and that was a very good game too.

My all time favorite RPG is FF3...6 in japan...but non-FF..it would have to be chrono trigger...best game (other than FF3) ever...the story the characters (u can't deny it,having a psycho scythe wielding vampire in ur pt (magus) just ownz)
Chrono croos is realllyyy good but SE ***** something up big time with that game....
What made chrono trigger go above all others..... tech attacks (double and triple team)..in chrono cross theres like 5 of them T_T I was dissapointed.

cya^^

Ok, heres my little list!

1: Chrono Trigger (I've played it through about 70 times on SNES...)

2: Brave Fencer Musashi (The game is AWESOME!)

3: Dew Prism (or was it called Thread of Fate, I forget)

4: Valkyre Profile (Another AWESOME game!)

5: Vagrant Story (I got tired of it honestly, but it did rule)

6: Front Mission 3 (Yay mechs!)

7: DragonWarrior III (I got the GB one, but its still great)

Ok... there you go... and Brave Fencer Musashi!!

I think that after FF III (US), which doesn't count toward answering the stated question, that Xenogears is my favorite Squaresoft game.

My favorite Square games are:

1. FF III (US)
2. Xenogears
3. Crono Trigger
4. FF IV (Hard-type)
5. A tie between Super Mario RPG, Secret of Evermore, and Parasite Eve, (the first one, Parasite Eve 2 really stank).

Secret of Evermore looked so much better than Secret of Mana, but they didn't have as many weapon types/levels and I wish it was as long as Secret of Mana, (I can beat it in a few hours).Smiley: frown

Toss up between Einhander and Xenogears both amazing games.

Ohhh i almost forgot Front Mission 3 sweet lord i loved that game.

As for Enix its all about original Dragon Warrior, that was my first RPG when i was like 8 years old, i got it with subscription to nintendo power and me and my bro played it forever.

I would have to say that one of my first favorite Square-Enix games that wasn't a FF series would have to be Chrono Trigger on the SNES. A newer game that I enjoyed playing that they had also created was Kingdom Hearts for the PS2.

I was 60 hrs or so into Xenogears when it asked me to put in disc 2.. about killed me! took so long to get there i forgot there WAS a disc 2. WHEN WILL IT END i often cried! It was a great game and all, but sometimes, there CAN be too much storyline.

Anything squaresoft made for the SNES was the best non-FF game.
