The Bubble Bernie money making run aroundFollow

#102 Jun 25 2004 at 4:45 PM Rating: Decent
Was just going to post another way for a 2 person low level party to do this nearly as fast as a blm with warp II. I have never done this quest. Im saying this only witht he info on this thread. But try this.

Lvl any job lvl sufficient to kill bernie
Lvl 1 (any job)

have the 1st stay at bernie and the 2nd do the running. it will basically go like this.

2nd set hp near a ah
1st kills bernie gets clock
1st trades clock to 2nd
1st summons another bernie
2nd attacks and disengages
2nd dies from bernie
2nd ghetto-warps to hp
1st kills bernie and gets another clock
2nd sends himself clock
2nd heads back to 1st
repeats

after 2nd gets 8 clocks in delivery box and one in inventory he trades them all.

start over

Im not sure about the area and what there would aggro a lvl 1 char. But this would cut down on the time for the lower lvl players out there that need to do this for money.

Before AkyaziDragoon's rateup for Mooglestiltskin: 4.93

After AkyaziDragoon's rateup for Mooglestiltskin: 5.00

You can thank me later ;)

for all the blm out there you can just set hp in markets and warp back after every fight and cut time down to about 2 mins between turnins of the clock

Is it jsut me or does this sitll not seem like a good way to make money. In about 2 hours I can make 100k, even if you fish for the quuu and get 500 profit each time this quest still doesn't make that much money, still better than the airship passenger quest, but not as good as other methods of gil making. The fame is nice, and I do need bastok fame badly.

I'm skeptical that it's really time efficient, but I'll def give it a try. Can't hurt to have more fame....

I've done the bernie run several hundred times with my 17blm; enough times to afford 50-slot inventory expansion, full set of fishing gear, mythran rod, rigs and lures, and some nice armor too.

I settled on a setup like this: set homepoint to mh entrance closest to malene, go back in moghouse, exit at bastok mines, run to bernie and kill, cast warp, run to malene and drop off clock, warp back to mh entrance and enter mh, then repeat. I bought all my quus, too, and i was using them up at about a stack an hour or so. Needless to say, i'm resistant to boredom (helps with fishing, too :)

I don't know if anyone has elaborated yet, but the team of 3+ people method works like this:

Person 1 gets all the quu's, and will -always- be the one fighting the NM.

Person's 2 and 3 will be rotating between the gate to the zone and running to turn in the clock. One of these two people will be standing a few steps into the area that Bernie spawns in. After Bernie is killed, Person 1 passes on it, Person 2/3 lots, and then runs like hell to turn in the clock. As soon as the other "runner" enters the zone, Bernie is spawned and killed again, and the process is repeated.

You're splitting your income 3+ ways, but it cuts down on running time a lot. And if you chose to fish them up...with 3+ people working to fish them up, i'm sure you could obtain a lot more quu's in a short amount of time. I'd assume you should each have like 20 stacks of quu's on you (or more) so that when Person 1 runs out of quus, person 2 can head out and be the new "Bernie Killer" for a while.

This guy in my LS did it 2000 times, he has Max Bastok fame hehe. he also got moderatly rich off it too. 300*2000=600,000. It's amillion gil a week i guess. Lets see 8 min round trip w/ warp? 8*2000= 16000min/60min= 266.666 hours, so yeah 11 full days of BB. and 166 stacks of ques i thonl farming palbrough/giddeus as a BLM/THF could rival this with GA+gillfinder+items.

I've read most of this thread - but not all so this may have been posted already.
<Make sure your moghouse delivery box and sending box are empty>

1. Kill BB - get clock
2. Run/warp back to markets
3. Send clock to your moghouse
4. Repeat 8 times.
5. After the 8th time, go to your moghouse and open the delivery box, do not take anything, leave.
6. Repeat steps 1-4 9 times.
7. On the ninth time, take clock to woman and turn in.
8. Goto moghouse and take out a clock.
9. Turn in all of your clocks.

This gives you a maximum of 17 clocks, and this process can be further expedited with two people - one kills and the other sends the clocks to both.

This is a proven method in my experience, and I believe it to be faster than any other method I have seen.

Sending the steam clock to yourself works fine. Items in your delivery box are not considered to be in your possession. Whenever I stop at Bastok, I have a few stacks of quus if I'm short of cash, since they are much cheaper in Windurst.
Rather than zoning in and out to get quest, just go pick up another clock from delivery, and then go back and get the quest, & give it to her right then.
I generally do the runaround 9 times - 8 in delivery, one in posession - then get quest, deliver clock, go to mog, pick up clock, come back, get quest, deliver clock and so on.

Well since I feel sorry for all the newbs out there I will tell you guys a trick to do this about the fastest you can do it as long as everyone in the party knows what there job is at that given time. This has been hinted at in this thread but not fully explained.

ok you need a party of 2-3 people
members listed as A, B, and C
EVERYONE grabs a stack of quus (AH or fished)

player A goes out to the lighthouse while B is in S gust. just outside of town zone

A trades/kills then passes on the clock while B lots on it.

B zones in and sends himself/herself the clock via delivery guy near AH in bastok mines. then heads back to S Gust zone

(While B is doing his sending)
A trades/kills then passes on clock while C lots on it.

C zones in and sends himself/herself the clock via delivery guy near AH in bastok mines. then heads back to S Gust zone

B and C repeat till A runs out of quus

which means they both have 6 in their delivery box (might as well just keep the 6th one on person instead of delivery box)

B and C run to moghouse in bastok mines exit to bastok markets
via the backalley quest

B and C run to turn in the clock, run back to mog house on the north side of the metalworks, get another clock from the delivery box (remember only one can be on your person or in safe at any given time, any amount can be in your delivery box or on the AH)

B and C exit mog house to area that they entered though (don't remember the exact text of the choice but you get the picture)
this is key because it will exit you to the mog house entrance on the northside of the metalworks instead of the south one

B and C repeat this till they turn in all 6 and then make their way back to bastok mines where A is waiting for them

now B runs out to the lighthouse and fills A's previous spot
while A and C do what B and C had previously did (are you confused yet? this seems to be turning in to algebra)

and once you rinse and repeat all those steps a third time for C running out to the lighthouse you have gained a profit of

6k minus the cost of 12 quus or time fishing
you have also gained some comradery(sp) with friends
and its way less borring this way

now...if anyone sees any holes in this scenareo please point them out...cuz I have only done this with a pt of 2 people but kept the same sort of format, also not sure about the speed with the downtime of one person sitting in bastok mines waiting for the other two to return from turning in 6 clocks
(also just thought about this as I was skimming over it for errors...but don't want to go back and change things, it might be worth it for everyone to carry 1.5 stacks and the two people running from zone to delivery guy end up sending 3 each to the person out killing, so all 3 are running the clocks so zero down time for any one person at any given time)

heck it might even work with a larger pt...just might get confusing with who is lotting at which times and such.

and now an algebra equasion: IF A=B and B=C then A=C
and IF A+B+C=18000 then what does A equal?

A = 6000 you say? WRONG you forgot the cost of the quus :-p

Stretchiwan of gilgamesh (this is info that I have gained from other websites and a friend that helped come up with this)

I didnt read what every1 wrote but wut Hccmike says is the best way to do this. I've done many times w/ my friend and 2 ppl is the best combo. use Hccmike's idea about sending to urself thru AH. wen all 8 slots r filled up go to ur MH and just check the delivery box. (NOTE: you do not have to take anything out yet. simply by checking the delivery box will open up those 8 spaces in the NPC sender, but this only works once, because from now on you will have to take stuff out of the box to send stuff thru the NPC. don't know why but it only works once.) so after this u can have 16 clocks in ur MH. then switch palces w/ ur friend i.e. u kill BB and he sends clocks to his MH, and then gets 16 of those. (NOTE:have ur friend in the zone that is closer to BB spawn point, i think its mines, not too familiar w/ bastok, but this is because it is shorter run from zone to AH.)
one more thing. have both of u in south gusty, but the person delivering the clocks, set them as quartermaster. Party>>Distribution>>Quartermaster. this way he receives all items if u r in same zone. then he just zones to mines and runs 10 feet to the AH. (NOTE: wen u and ur friend switch places remember to switch quartermaster.)
then wen u r done just turn in all the clocks, running from MH to Malene.

Me and my friend got into such a 'groove' that in 2hr.s(take into account the time to get into the 'groove', which was prolly bout half hour) that at the end of 2hrs, profit, not including deductions for the fish were 30k each since we split the money, so 60k all together in 2hrs.

Now on my server Bismarck, the AH fish in basty r only 700-800 and we split that cost too so we only really spent like 350-400 gil a stack, and in the end made a profit of 30k each, total cost for the fish alltogether, i dont remember, but the numbers r all there, you do the math, 60k 700-800 gil a stack, just calculate how many stacks and gil we spent. veyr profitable.
