Friend list problemsFollow

My friend got the game three days ago and two days ago I added him to my friends list. We played in the morning for about two hours, then another two hours that evening. Every time he showed up on my friend list as offline, even though I was standing in front of him. I talked to a POL TSR who wasn't helpful at all, attributed the problem to anything from antivirus software in the background to my router blocking ports. Blocked ports causing just one of my friends to be offline? I had four other friends who came up just fine. Anyone else have problems like this? It's kinda frustrating when the only way you know if someone is on is by calling them, getting an IM, arranging a scheduled time beforehand, or logging into our Teamspeak server and seeing if he's already on.

Also check to see if they didn't somehow set their online status to Invisible.
