Ok, I'm just in the process of doing the Chocobo quest. I made the Jeuno run, got lucky and didn't get aggroed.
Got the greens - cost me 4k but hey, I'm really looking forward to getting me a Choco, so it's worth the outlay. I'm so sick of running everywhere!
However, one thing I overlooked - the time it takes to feed the bird. Is it really necessary to have such an infuriating time sink? One grass per FF day - thats one each real time hour. You have to feed him 4 grasses - add two 'rejections' and you're looking at over 5 hours of trading an item to a Chocobo in order to obtain the license.
Now, before anyone says it, I KNOW in the end, I'm gonna be glad I got my lil Chocco. I KNOW timesinks are a regular part of mmorpg's. But is it really necessary to have to endure such a mundane, repetetive, tiresome task? Look at the subjob quest. Collect tree items from monsters. Another timesink, but at LEAST you were gaining exp and items/gil while doing it.
So, what do you guys think? That this is simply a coming of age task one must endure to prove yourself to the world of Vana'diel? Or are you like me, and think this is the worst designed p.o.s. quest ever endured by Elvaankind?
