I think this would be a good idea:

Remember Final Fantasy 3/6 for snes, were in the Coliseum you put up an item, and if you win the fight you get an item, depending on what you put up, the better, or worse it was.

1.
Instead of doing it just like that, you could make it more interactive with other players. Like instead of just solo, you could either fight with or without a party.
2.
You could hold a tournament for an amount of gil, paid to the Coliseum. Put up your own monster, or monsters, and Item of your choice. And have people register for a sum of gil, set by you. And if they loss, you keep the gil, and the monster. If they win you loss the monster, and the Item.

How would you get the monster? They could have a monster store, and you could call it something like the monster stables. Depending on what level you were, the different types of monsters you could buy. A Beast Master could also catch and use his.

Example, a level 75 Paladin buys a Behemoth and a tournament at 400,000 gil and puts up some Job Specific Armor as the item. And sets a registration fee of 150,000 a person. I think I can take it, so I put up the money. I walk in, the crowd goes wild, and I grab my blade charge the Behemoth..... I’m dead.

So the Paladin keeps my money, and I’m out of experience, and gil, but I get a little wiser.

Then you come in with an alliance register each person for 150,000 each. You walk in, the crowd goes wild, every one brandishes his weapon, and you tear into the Behemoth… and after along fight you are victorious.

You get the Job Specific Armor. And the Paladin gets the money and loses the Behemoth

Well what do you think of the Idea, of course there is more I could say about it, but I only want to make this post so long.

Any questions or suggestions

Thank for Reading

I like the idea of a coliseum (sp?) where you can either go in like a gladiotor or as a spectator..
