Pacific. But need to set your comp clock back 3 hours for it to work. Not change time zone.

3 hours assuming you are Eastern Standard.

Anyone know how to contact this guy? It would make it infinitely more useful if he could add an option to select time zone on the site (even just a +/- hour list), maybe cookie it too.

I did exactly the same post yesterday.

Only the ppl who answered me, said It was based on your own time zone. Even gave the formula.. so once again, I'm in the dark :/

I saw that formula too, but it must not be working correctly. I set my computer clock to Pacific Time Zone (GMT -8) and refreshed the website. Now it's accurate to within 5 min Vana'diel time.

haha, I totally didn't realize it was likely just a .js file, I hope this guy doesn't mind if I d/l and edit it for personal use.

ok, here is the fix I came up with, i tested it, and it does adjust the time properly to PST, and the Vana'diel Date seems to adjust properly, I haven't logged in and tested it, but if you wanna try it go ahead.

You will have to download and save not only the main page at that URL, but also the file: fishtime.js in that directory. If you are using IE (and possibly a new NS), when you DL it will automatically d/l the js file to a folder named XXX_files where XXX is the filename you saved the main page too, either edit that js file, or edit the SCRIPT tag in the main page HTML.

Next you need to edit the JS, even if you don't know programming, you can probably do this, it is very easy. Open the JS file in notepad, and scroll a page or so till you see a line that goes:
Quote:
function printTime() {

There should be a lines starting with two slashes (comment) and some japanese gobbledegook, then a line that says:
Quote:
  Now   = new Date();

Directly after that line, add in these three lines:
Quote:

  Now2   = Now;
  TimeOffset = 480 - Now2.getTimezoneOffset();
  Now.setTime(Now2.getTime() - (60 * TimeOffset * 1000));

That should fix the clock, now you can run it from that file on your system and not bog down this guys server with pointless page calls.

Full credit goes to the guy that made this timer in the first place, and if he wants to add my fix (it sorta looks like he tried something else to do this) he is totally welcome to do so, doesn't even need to refrence me.

If you think I did something wrong here, please tell me why and how to fix it. Thanks.

actually, you probably don't even need the Now2, just use Now instead, but this is how I did it and it works, so there it is. Don't fix what ain't broke.

I logged in and got the same time as predicted by the adjusted timer...

Everything on the site shows up in my time, and I live in Hawaii. If the entire page was off of pacific time, then I have 2 pieces of RSE that I shouldn't have, because I got them in the final hour of my time as shown on that timer, which would have been over an hour after my RSE window ended. Maybe the moon phases would be pacific, I haven't cared enough to check the accuracy of that, but the Earth time matches my computer to the second, and the RSE times reflect that.

Hmm, I really don't know why yours would work on hawaii time, I think it is GMT-10:00 which is two less then pacific and wouldn't account for anything funny with daylight savings. I am in MST, which is +1 hour from PST, and all I know is unfixed the Vana'diel timer says it is Darksday in game, when it is really Lightsday and one hour less. When I did my fix, it seemed to work perfect. If it works for you, I guess that is great, if it doesn't, try my fix.
