College classes coupled with my job have left me very little time to play FFXI. I usually only have a couple hours to play at a time which just isn't enough to wait for a grp, decide on a camp, then crank out the exp. So I thought I'd only play BST since with that class I can log in and exp for however long I have.

It sounded like a good idea 'til I was discussing MMORPGs with some classmates today, and they highly recommended I try Horizons. They said it requires less grouping than FFXI and would allow me more freedom with the time constraints I have. I haven't heard much about Horizons so I checked out some message boards and some sites. I got mixed opinions. Some people seemed to really enjoy it, while others said it was released way too early.

Without any substantial evidence I now turn to you guys. Have any of you played Horizons, and if so, how'd you like it or dislike it?
Or would you recommend that I stick to my Beastmaster? I do have an awesome LS that I dont want to leave, but if Horizons offers more single player freedoms it just might be the way to go for me.

Thanks

OKie... all MMORPG are extremely time consuming. Same for Asheron's Call !&2, same for Evercrack.... same for FFXI....and same for Starwar..etc..etc.. MMPRPG are always leveling...questing.. money making....crafting...mining..etc.etc..and all of them takes up so much time(REAL LIFE TIME). IF you say you don't have time for FFXI, then you won't have time for any MMORPG. Simply should just drop it and forget about it. Play some Bomberman or Mario Brothers which won't last that long. Anyway, just my 2 cents...

My friend plays Horizons. I believe he is a bricklayer. He runs it on a second computer, so he can still do things and let his character run building walls and such. Interesting system.

I personally think ffxi doesn't take much time if you know what you are doing, but if you really don't have much time, try ProgressQuest.

Yes, all MMORPGS are giant time sinks, but some of them are more friendly to people who can only play in short sessions than others. This game is probably one of the least friendly to short session players of all, and "mandatory" grouping is the big reason for that. (Yes, you may be able to craft or farm in a short session, but this depends on where you last logged). What you want is a game that would let you actually accomplish something in a short session. Whatever else its demerits, SWG is probably the most solo-friendly of all, but there are others.
