I've been in Qufim for three @#*$@#%&@#*$&@# days and nothing's gone right. Two days ago I couldn't get into a party, yesterday I found a party but of all things couldn't find a #$*@#$*(@# tank, and today I got with two other people and suddenly get @#$*@#&$ killed by a stupid Land Worm using Full-force Blow, losing 345 exp. They said to disband and let another party pick up two of us three, except the other @*#$&@*(#$ party picked them up instead of me. I tried to get help from a high level WHM to solo worms but she @#*$&@#* says she's JP only, yet she helped one of my former PT members solo worms. WTF is going on? I'm just trying to get to level 23+ so I can fight the @#*$&@#(* dragon in Windurst for "The Emissary" mission from Bastok and now that I need to level, no one's @*#$&(@#*@&@#(&$@#$&@# on.

I feel your pain...when I can decipher all the @#$&%@#$.

Such is Qufim, especially for us underappreciated THFs. And Kazham isn't much better. My only advice...on the rare occasions you find yourself a great party, stay with them as long as you can...stay up all night...call out of work...do whatever it takes.

Just started to put a group together and they decided to @$&*@(#$&@# disband to find a group better, now I'm the only one in the area without a party again.

(I just hold down Shift and bash numbers.)

When I got killed today it was in the middle of my @#$&@#@#*$&@ sneak attack, that would've killed the stupid worm right then and there.

Everyone in Batallia is 5 levels above me, most are much higher. And I just got into a party in time to see the #$*&@#$@*#$&@# white mage leave.

I'm heading to Windurst to do a mission for Bastok. Why am I gonna run all the way back to Bastok, then to Altepa just to get a party?

So you're saying I should completely backtrack and *hope* that someone even close to my level is there in Altepa?

Gee, there is this keen little feature called /search . You can, for example, search a zone you're not even in to see who's there before you go, or do something like /search all such an such level - such and such another level and see where all the action at your level is, and if you can get a party somewhere else.

Also, I must point out that the whm in your initial story was in no way, shape, or form, obligated to help you. Just because someone is high level doesn't mean that they have some curse bestowed upon them to waste hours and hours of time monotously powerleveling someone they don't know. Maybe your PT mate is friends with that person, or perhaps the time they recieved help from the whm she/he could have had loads of time to spare of was royally bored, and when you asked she didn't have the time, or simply no longer felt like it. That's her perogative. I'm tired of going to areas and seeing people /shout for people to help them, and if they don't a barrage of spam is spewed forth calling them "losers", or "********". Sincerely hope you aren't one of them.

Without a word the WHM helped the other people. I decided I ought to ask her if she might help me solo a few worms and I get that @#*$&@# "I'm JP only" crap. I know she wasn't under any obligation to help but the second that I try and be polite she acts like a *@&$@#*$&@#. She sat down for minutes at a time doing nothing, then got up for random cures and raises. Makes me wonder if I should be polite in the future.

And it's hard to search an area if 1) you've never been to Altepa before and 2) you don't know what to type using /sea to search Altepa. I'm not being an *** about it, I feel I've got a legitimate rant.

/search shortenednameofthezone 20-22

If you don't find that particularly useful, do this

/search all 20-22

and take 30 seconds of time and scroll down and see who's where, and then GO there.

People in blue are in groups

People in yellow are party leaders

People in grey aren't in parties

If you need help getting some people who want parties try

/search all 20-22 inv

or /search all 20-22 whm

or blm, or mnk, or any combination thereof

And I understand where that whm was coming from (perhaps). I'm a decent level with my main job(52bst/26whm) and when I lounge around in a low zone hanging out with friends while i'm watching some movies or eating dinner, sometimes I can have time to do stuff, and sometimes I don't want to be bothered. There are times that people will come up to me and ask me to heal them, and i'll do so, and continue for the next couple of battles. And there are also times where I have a cup of ramen in my lap, slurping away watching my TV and I glance over at the monitor to someone asking me to Plvl them. My response is usually "Sorry, I can't", and I leave it at that. They don't have to bow and slink away we're all equal, but I don't want them bashing me to my face or behind my back either just because I didn't feel like it right then. Think about it

I would suggest going to windy and looking for people to party with. I would have been able to help you (providing you were on cerberus and I went to bastok, then windy) as I'm on San d'Oria's equiv. to Bastok's "The Emissary" mission. Ours is called "Journey Abroad" In which I have to go to both windy and bastok. No matter which order I go in, I have to fight a dragon at the end. I chose to go to windy first, then to bastok as the strat guide said after I slay the dragon in bastok, I return to bastok where as had I gone to bastok first, then slayed the dragon in windy, I would have to return once again to bastok before I could return to Sandy... However, right now I've got to fight some Named Monster by the name of Buxu the Silent (in giddeus), get some shields and head to bastok. I have a lvl 19 blm helping my lvl 18 mnk as we both are on the same mission... but we'll need more than just us once we get to bastok. My point here is if there are any San d'Orian's in Windurst that have this mission but went to bastok first, they too need to slay the dragon... maybe you could party with them?

I'd been keeping an eye on Buburimu and Shakhrami, everyone was level 10-15 in those zones. That's why my plan was to level in Qufim and then head to Windurst once I was level 23+ and had a decent chance against the dragon.

And what's the shortened name of those zones? WAltepa and EAltepa?

Ugh, Qufim, Destroyer of Fun. I was in there around 2 weeks ago, on the Siren server myself. Thank God I got out though. Maybe I'll help you with your mission sometime, though tonight I'm going to unlock Bard and mess with it for a while.

That reminds me, need to update my signiture. ^_^

I believe those are the shortened names, although to be sure, just do what I said earlier, /search all suchandsuch and scroll down until you find someone in alteppa. Not only will that give you the definite answer on how the shortened name is written, but it'll also give you a stepping stone to a party.

And I know it's hard to swallow, but for the levels of 20-25, there is ALMOST nowhere else to go where you're going to find a decent level of people. Unless you have a group of friends or a regular PT that can organize and go to these places, most won't be bothered both because either the journey is trecherous, they don't know the way, they don't want to be bothered, or some combination of the three. At 20 the best thing I can suggest is just picking your groups very carefully, even if that means sitting idle for another 20 minutes or so, making sure that you stay stuck to worms and weak snips, and for the love of god, get back to a safe locale from 18:00-04:00.

actually your first post was OK even with all the hidden cussing..it's your later posts that start to paint a different picture about you.

as a thf and mnk, 2 of the worst starting classes to get groups, i got thru dunes and qufim just fine...did not notice any particular evenings when i didn't get picked for lengthy periods of time

i do have to agree with alieone, sometimes when i find the good group i stay on a little longer than i'd planned to get a little more exp.

try to log in a little earlier. i bet you're logging in just after groups have formed and you're left with the groups that dont have whm, or tank, or the people who play a lot and know their job a little better, etc.

Yeah...I was getting more and more frustrated as the day went on, so I logged and did some other errands the rest of the day.

I've never really found a time when parties are just starting to form on Siren. Usually the only time (i.e. once) I have gotten into a good party in Qufim, I was trying to get to level 20 for my chocobo license, and it was 2 AM before I got there and I had to log because I had school that morning.

Better to just let this thread trickle down off the first page...

Amen. Qufim is one of the most brutal places I've come across so far. I came there when i reached lvl 20, I dont' suggest going there any earlier.

Here is a list of why Qufim is hell:

1. people say go to qufim at lvl20. problem is that it will be hard to find people of similar lvl, thus making it hard to get into parties until you are lvl 22 or 23.

2. Lag is bad due to overcrowding...i swear half the server is in qufim.

3. If you don't have chat filters set up you are screwed and won't be able to read anything.

4. Most of the time its hard to chain mobs because they are also being farmed by countless other parties. So basically they aren't respawning fast enough.

5. Night time in Qufim is really tough and unforgiving. Wights will kill you in seconds and have a serious aggro problem. There's also many other things that can get you killed real quick.

6. EXP is often slow because of inability to chain monsters and the fact that it seems only at lvl 22-25 do you get great xp/kill with a party of same lvl chars.

7. Lack of WHM means that there is way more people LFP than there is parties to put them in. I also find the disband rate extremely high and frustrating. You spend an hour looking for party and then a half hour after you finally get one, someone has to go feed their fish or the whm has to leave and then the party disolves.

That's all I can think about at the moment. I"m sure there is much more bad things about this **** hole. I also am wondering why the heck is it still under beastman control when the place is overrun with PC's?

You may want to head to Giddeus anyway to get a group. I fought the dragon in level 20. Our party make-up was:

Thf/War 25/12 (Melee, Sneak Attack)
Thf/Mnk 25/10 (Melee, Sneak Attack)
Rdm/Blk 25/12 (Debuff, Nuke)
Whm/??? 25/?? (Heal, Divine)
Thf/War 20/10 (Melee, Sneak Attack)
Rdm/Mnk 20/10 (me) (Melee, Nuke)

Granted four of the members were level 25, however, we killed the dragon in 4 min 40 secs (which included me getting lost in the burning circle). None of our HPs dropped into orange. No one used their two hour ability. I don't even recall skill chains, but there was a lot of battle spam. Close to the end the Whm started throwing Banishaga (second highest damage next to Sneak Attack). The three thief combo kicked dragon tail (alt Sneak Attacks).

We all had read accounts of other dragon battles and we devised our strategy before hand:

Sleep Dragon (NO AOE magics/ws)
Kill Eye
Kill Dragon

OK, it may not sound brillant, but it was better than going into battle blind.

Considering who your party had, yeah, I think I might as well head to Windurst and assemble a party. As soon as my friend gets his act together, I'll need to help him level in Windy anyway.

I'll take that strategy and try to use it with a group. This is my first big fight and I tend to be a bit cautious.
