Warriors/drg/drk/ etc with provoke. Paladins are the best tanks, Ninjas can, in some rare, expensive situations be almost as good, paladins are THE tanks.

Now, Paladins do not pull, they rest in between fights to regain MP. When pulling, DO NOT USE PROVOKE. If you do, when you get back to the camp, the Paladin cannot simply voke it off you and begin tanking immediately. Since the puller likely does more damage the mob will stay in him. One way a Paladin keeps hate is by curing himself, If I'm not taking damage I cant do that.

Bottom line, if the Paladin in the party is designated primary tank, dont pull with provoke, go spend your precious 500 gil and buy a boomerang for god's sake. Its oh so simple.

You say that, but Dragoons are incapable of using ANY ranged weapons. Of course, if I were asked to pull, I'd look at my PT leader funny.

Maybe a DRG can spit on the enemy from a distance to gain its attention?

I hate it when people dont understand other classes and they way they work
(im sure you've all heart me rant about Thieves with sneak/trick attack and how people just dont understand)

What's to stop the puller from using provoke? If he gets hit a couple times on the way back, the Paladin could always cure him (instead of the whm doing it) and then provoke (and flash if 37+) and then start meleeing. No doubt this will get the mob's attention. It's not like the Paladin has to be the target of his cures because he still gets hate. This seems like a viable thing to do if you need speedy pulls because of competition ect.

That being said, I agree that it's better if provoke isn't used for pulling. It just makes things a bit easier for everyone. (did I just contradict myself :P )
