I was with a party in the citidel chaining siege bats and somone I've had problems with shows up. I suspect somthing is up because he keeps coming over to look at us, then leaving. About 10 minutes later a an IT borer beetle somhow agroes on our party. While the tard and his friends stand up the hall we proceed to complely own the mob he trained on us as they watch. I guess to them a borer beetle was certain death, to us it was merely challenging.

Best revenge I've ever had...

The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

How did he manage to put aggro on your party? I was under the assumption that once you aggro a mob, it will only attack you unless you either zone, or something draws more hate.

I doubt he brought the beetle to you.

Even if he dragged it down the hall and he zoned to loose aggro, then the beetle will return to it's original location.

I think you are experiencing a fake feeling of revenge-joynessthinghy.

I've seen quite a few mid level BST's griefing by charming a higher level mob in an area, taking it over by a lower level group and then releasing it.

But then the BST would have to elease it quite close to the other group for the mob to aggro on the group right?

also that would be mobs that normally aggro. i think beetles are passive, right?

besides that, a bst that loses control of its pet, the pet will go after the owner? or is there a distance issue?

No, borer beetles agro, if you doubt me go to the citidel and see for yourself. Just be ready to run if you're below lvl 45 and not with a party. And watch out for the Fallen Evacuees while you're at it. Don't rest around the Siege Bats and Wingrats either because they agro on resting, and if your HP gets low watch it because the evacuees agro on low hp at a much farther range than their hearing range (TIP: don't bother with invisibility around undead, it does nothing, only sneak works and if you're below 75% HP then nothing works) And if you fall down a hole, just kiss your *** goodby, you'll die in seconds. (whenever I'm there some careless puller always falls down a hole)

A guy from his party ran throug ours and stopped dead in his tracks, then the beetle killed him. It may have been a "train of oppurtunity", i.e. he knew he was going to die anyway so he decided to let the beetle kill him there.

BTW. never assume that agro is consistant with same family/different stat mobs, becuse it will eventually bite you in the ***.

Ah, the suicide trainer. I remember back in the day on EQ before I left when luclin came out when some guy dragged a bunch of giants in Kael Drakkel up (not to the zone) there and died while my local uber guild was setting up to take on Avatar of War or something like that, maybe it was just the statue guy. I have not seen so many mispelled capitalized swear words in my life, needless to say, the leader of the guild was less then happy this one guy just costed his guild several hundred manhours of play time, not just getting there corpses back, but all the exp that would invariably be lost, and the fact that very likely the entire raid would be a bust.

People who do this had better be ready to delete their character, because real powerful and popular people can make your life hell if you **** them off.

BTW, did you raise the guy that trained you, boy would that ever sting.

Love thy enemy, it drives them insane!

he could not have made the beet attack you unless he got the argo, ran up the stairs and zoned, then the beetle came back down on you.

once he has the hate he cannot lose it unless he zones.

Or dies...

Didn't you read this thread? He ran into our party with a borer beetle chasing him, stopped, and let the beetle kill him. When he was dead the beetle then agroed on us. Forget about the low level beetles you've seen running around outside San D'Oria are like, Borer Beetles are lvl 40-44, have very high DEF, agro on sight and link.

You learn quickly that just because a mob looks the same doesn't mean it is the same. Countless lowbies have learned this lesson the hard way when on their first venture into Tahrongi Canyon and got killed because they didn't realize that Canyon Rarabs are IT to their level and link when attacked.
