is it do-able? is it sane? Should i even attempt it? Or does someone else have a suggestion for a different race for this combo or another combo all together?

Dragoon is kinda crappy as a sub, you lose the ability to summon the wyvern.
Now a Drg/Sam is a different story. The spears pentathrust is one of the best weapon skills in the game, couple that with the Sam's tp regen and you've got a deadly combo.
