ok can someone help me? I am doing my drain quest and was told to do 25 quests to get enough fame to go there and get the quest for drain. The guards in north san d'oria wont let me in the chataeu, what do I do?
You need to be at least rank 3, or be on the rank 3 quest to enter the chataeu. You can increase your rank by doing missions for your home kingdom.
You need to be Rank 2 or higher to get in the Chataeu
Rank 2 alone will not cut it. You need to be on mission 2-3 (Three Kingdoms) to gain access to the castle.
Rank 2 or higher if D'Oria is where you're a citizen of

i'm currently on mission 4 in windurst rank 2, if I give crystals to get rank 3 will i be able to just skip mission 4 and 5 and do 6? i'm not sure how it all works
Not being familiar with Windurst Missions I couldnt say if 4 and 5 are skippable missions or not. Some missions you can skip, some you cant, even if you were to donate crystals until your rank meter is full.
You can't ever reach a new rank level by just donating crystals. There is a rank mission that must be completed. You can donate crystals or do the shippable missions to get your rank meter full and unlock this rank increasing mission.

I'm currently a citizen of San d'Oria, and I haven't even done the Rank 2-2 mission yet (it's my current mission) and I can enter the Chataeu. So I think it's safe to say that if you are a citizen of San d'Oria and have attained Rank 2 you can enter the Chataeu. My fame is also not very high yet (I get the "I think I've heard that name before" message) so I know that isn't affecting it much. Hope this info helps put something in stone about access to this area.
I'm a San d'Orian citizen and I too was able to enter the chateau before doing my 2-2 mission.
Getting in is one thing (rank related), getting the Drain scroll quest is another (fame related). My wife and I visited the Chateau together, and while we were both able to get the General's Secret quest, she didn't have enough fame to get the Drain scroll quest or the gardender's quest.
