The other day I found my Cactuar stuffed-animal I bought about a year ago. Realizing that Cactuar was missing brought me full circle on another thought about the "feel" of FFXI. It's very fantasy like the early games. In the later series they experimented with more of a psuedo futuristic feel. Mixing swords and firearms; dungeons&dragons meets terminator. I realize that I miss these things in FFXI. My guess is they left them out on purpose. Cactuar will make a return in the next version and they will move the timeline in to the future? How could you forget Cactuar? How could you reason Cactuar was too strange for this world? We have airships though. Hmmm. Cid/Cleadus needs to get busy!
Sweet! Anyone know where to find Cactuar? Its not in the beastiary of this site and I have not seen them yet (only level 27 at the time of this posting).
Oh and my other thoughts still apply. I am looking forward to a version with the pseudo industrial futuristic feel.
I don't think it is really steampunk he is thinking of, as steampunk is, at least most of the time, set in a Victorian setting, rather than a medievil setting.
But yes, cactaurs rock, do they run away from battle a lot in FFXI like they did in FFX?
