56K Speed Cap???Follow

#1 Jan 19 2004 at 9:43 AM Rating: Decent
I heard that FFXI has a 56K speed cap on it? Now since I have a dial-up connection anyways does this mean that I won't have a disadvantage to people with DSL, cable, etc? Or since I'm using dial-up does that mean that i'm going to lag no matter what? Because my computer more than meets the reqs. I just want to know if it's even worth getting the game if I use dial-up? Any input would be great.

Thanks

Yep, no prob at all with dial up... ive met numberous ppl with dial up, and no one had any problems... The only thing that could happen... you sometimes get disconnected, but that happens to DSL, cable users too...

So BUY it!

I dont know where you live but just about all dial ups can be got for flat monthly rate or even free if you want to look at 72 million ads an hour.

Uhm... im from holland... i have DSL for almost 2 years now...

So i dont know exactly what dial up cost, but i think € 1,- an hour...

So if you play 32 hours (like i do) it is just as expensive as a DSL connection...

Duh. I never read signatures :P Im just saying that if youre mentally deficient and have something like AOL you only pay about $20 a month whether youre on for 1 minute or 100 hours. Maybe there arent any flat rate dial up services in Holland, but thats all there really is in US.

The only other thing I was worried about was my graphics card, I've got a ATI Radeon 9800-SE (128MB). But one of my friends said that I should upgrade to a Pro for some reason. I didn't think there was much difference but he did. I just thought I'd get some more input.

Places like Kazham have the tendency to bring the Dialup people to their knees. The Dragoon in our party was ******** and moaning about lag; I wasn't lagging, but little packet meter had the receive at 1400. 0.0

56k works fine for me, and I even share the connexion with another person without too much problems. It never takes more than 1/4 - 1/2 of the bandwidth. Of course I'm still in Valkurm and don't know about other areas.
