Tree Cuttings - Anyone having any luck?Follow

I just started attempting to work with tree cuttings and my first harvest went as follows...

Brass Pot - Fire Crystal + Fire Crystal = 13 Brass Nuggets

I found Brass Nuggets at the Auction house but it seems like no one has had them on sale for a very long time. Has anyone harvested anything from tree cuttings that ended up paying off for the expense of the crystals+the cuttings?

What mobs drop those types of seeds anyways? I've been wanting to plant some for a while, but those seed types sell from 4-50k on my server so buying them is out of the question for the moment. Since I've planted the last of my seeds yesterday and I need to go hunting to get some more, now's a good time as any to try and come by some cuttings/saplings.

BTW, on another message board, someone harvested 3 black chocobo feathers from one harvest and 24 water crystals from the other. If the payout is worth the initial cost of the seeds, I'd be willing to buy some, but the last thing I want is to end up with worthless crystals =)

I'm not positive what drops them, but a friend told me that he found them on a Gobubue somewhere. The cost at auction house on Kujata is around 2k so thus far it hasn't seemed to be a sound investment. I'll try a few more times and see what I can get before giving up completely though!

Tree Cuttings drop from Goobbue Farmers in Rolanberry Fields.

The average price for them is 2k to 4k each. They allow you to add two crystals when gardening instead of just one. The equation the game uses to determine what item you receive gets another variable put into it when using the cuttings compared to normal seeds. Typical the plant yields more valuable items, or in more of a quantity. As in gardening with other seeds, Fruit/Vegetable/Grain, it is dependant on many factors including the moon, time, and day.

I myself have grown ingots, crystals, and food ingredients. There are so many combinations, and I have yet to see and website/book which describes the equation or solid method used.

For the most part, all people have been doing is logging the intricate details involved in gardening. Power insomnia gamers like Pikko here on the board have journals you can review. There is probably a japanese site out there somewhere with more information.

Hope I answered your questions. :)

Brass Nuggets would, by merit of their associated recipe, sell for about 300 per dozen, maybe more if the smith really wanted the stackableness.

Brass Ingot - Fire Crystal - 6 Brass Nuggets, 1 Zinc Ore

(As you can see, the brass nuggets stand in for the Copper Ores -- the main benefit being that they take up much less room)
