yeah, a few levels back i joined a party and the leader's first order was for everyone to list their DEF. i had the highest, so naturally i was nominated puller/tank... and caster. what? i told him i had never pulled before, he said that's okay, it's easy. just hit something and run back here. we'll heal you when you get back. but you tank, 'cause you're highest DEF.
so okay, i'll try anything once. i hadn't partied that much up to that point, and i always read on here about how red mages shouldn't refuse to do stuff 'cause they're good at lots of stuff (like i'm main healer in parties a lot). so i figure maybe that extends to being puller/tank/caster. or maybe i need to find another party...
anyways, after the first battle he realizes oh, i DON'T have provoke. >.< looking back, of course i would have let him know this at the get go, but i hadn't ever played any fighting class, just mage, and i hadn't been in enough parties before then to know what every job was expected to have available to them. so if you're in a really awful party, you need to let them know. if they won't listen to you, then leave ^_^ if i had known then what i do know (and believe me, i know i still have a LOT to learn) then i would have pointed out why i believed this was not the best way to go about setting up the group responsibilities. learning the hard way is effective, but having someone tell you will help keep you from hurting others XP in the process.
