hey i just wanted to point something out..
i have noticed in the past few deaths, that i died due to teh fact that i was trying to save a party, yet the party would not comply. I'd yell zone and i'd do my best to wait until everyone is out but there are always people who linger, i know i can use Utsetsumi and Provoke or Majin to save myself, i guess they're only trying to help... and make sure i'm ok.... in the end i just wait too long and die... should i just zone and say ***** u guys?

waht do u guys think?

You should give some effort to help them but if they dont comply and stick around dont stick your neck out for a lost cause

This had happend to me alot too. And there's not much you can do about it cause i've tried and it never sinks in for some reason. When i see things going bad i usually stay behind or express to just let me die and everyone else run. This has only worked one time. Just do what you think would be best if you don't see anyone else running.

Hard to say. It depends on how comfortable you are with your current HP and ability to run away.

In my experiences, PTs tend to expect the tank to be the last man out of a battle.

Course, as a THF, I'm really not expected to do anything as far as SAVING a party, so basically I just activate flee and book....unless of course I've got my WAR sub. Then I'd try to provoke it I "Flee" with it chasing me. Gives the rest of the party a little extra time to get away.

In a similar vein, if the white mage says zone, then hit's benidition they are expecting to die, they want the party to zone, not have three warrios try to provoke the monster off of em.

As odd as it seems as a WHM with an average reputation I have no problem with dieing once a night. If the party is good and I've been making good exp, as long as I have a buffer so I don't level down, I'll take the hit. Problem is too many warriors feel the need to save the party. I've leveled a warrior, I've leveled a WHM, I will say this, it's far easire for me to get back any lost exp as a WHM.

Playing last night getting my thief to level 20, our group kept on aggroing mobs (Weapons and Giants) by accident. When I had a giant on me, I told the others to run and I'd use my 2-hour to train the giant to the zone or to a group of high-level players who could take it out. Didn't work too well because...people refused to leave and let me take the hit. Our WHM had a bad DSL connection and dropped every so often (resulting in everyone's death but mine the first time we attacked something; he dropped barely 30 seconds into the fight), so if the tanks were getting low on HP, our RDM was low on mana, and the mob was nearly dead, the weak thief/warrior provoked to take a few hits off them. Worked except on one occasion where the tank provoked at the same time.

I think that if a thief or white mage tells you to run he means it. Thief can train the mob to a zone entrance and not get hit by using the 2-hour Perfect Dodge. White mage...bene...you get the point. If either of those two tell you to run, RUN. In my experience they're the only ones who can really save a party and have a chance of not getting killed doing it.

I agree so much with the THF and WHM telling you to run you run, I would also like to add PLD with 2 hour "Invincible" because they will take the hits and not get hurt and they will take all the hate when using that. Warriors play the role great sometimes (my brother for instance), they will stay till everyone is gone or they are dead, they will protect the WHM or BLM and try to let everyone get out even it means their life. But please WARs listen if the WHM, THF or PLD say run then run...lol.

amen. as a monk, I used to get overlooked by parties a lot til I hit 15 and got shoulder tackle. Then everybody and their mother wanted me because i could skillchain. There have been times when as a lvl 17 taru monk, i've had to save the whole damn party's collective ***. There have been PLENTY of times that I've saved warrior ***. I don't make taking one for the team as long as everybody bounces when the whm says run. If its looking bad for my party, i'll wait for the white mage to tell everybody to run twice. After the second time, I'll shout run. If everybody with common sense starts to run, i'll tell the white mage to heal me one last time, turn on hundred fists, then draw aggro so they can get away...even the warrior. Most people think i'm crazy, but a lot of times the last heal will get me enough HP where i can shoulder tackle the mob, stun it, then haul *** myself. Also monks if you're reading this, shoulder tackle then hundred fists is a nice way to finish off a mob that refuses to go down while the party runs. werd to selfless-ness.
