sub-job questions?Follow

Can you use job abilities based on your subjob?
for example beastmaster/dragoon to charm a pet or get a wyvern its a job ability.
Right now i am blm/whm and it wont let me use benediction.
So I assume you cannot use abilities from you sub job.
Why?
Whats the point of making beastmaster/dragoon a sub.
You cannot do anything with them.
Also I know that you cannot use equipment based on your sub-job.
So whats really the point of a sub-job? Just to add HP / MP?
whm or blm / war monk drg bst only benefit is HP since you cannot use equip or abilities.
Also then beastmaster/dragoon is a waste to make as a sub.

You can use all abilities and spells of your sub job up to half your main jobs level. On the other hand you cannot use your sub-jobs 2 hour abilites or equipment. This is why some job combinations do not work very well. Dragoons are the worse since their wyver is a 2 hour ability.

Sub job is actually good if it compliments your main job.

So you get the sub jobs active and passive abilities also the spells the only thing you dont get is the 2hour.

personally i dont see Bst/drag as best combo as the best but subjob at lvl 35 would include - jump, high jump, attack bonus, dragon killer, accuracy bonus.

For Blm/whm you would not only get mana, stat boost you would also get magic defence and regeneration plus access to all the white mage spells to lvl 35, so group might look more highly on BM that can back up heal in case of immergency, plus if you had sub whm up to lvl 25 people would really love ya.

Aside from HP/MP, there are also the other stats the a sub-job adds. That's why you'll hear often that it's best to pair like jobs as main/sub (i.e. WAR/MNK, PLD/WAR, BLM/WHM) and not pair opposing types such as melee/caster. (i.e. WAR/BLM)

Also, typically advanced jobs don't make great sub-jobs because of how specialized they are. There are of course exceptions. And I give kudos to anyone who can make any combination work, regardless of how bizarre it may look. (Still trying to figure out the BRD/DRG I saw the other day.)
