Let me explain to you how to play this game:Follow

The trick to succeeding in this game has two ways:

1.- getting a 75/37 character and killing high level goblins or farming some nice stuff to buy things for synthetizing or equipment and spells for lower lvl jobs, or simply spend hours fishing

2.- this way is tedious but in the long run its faster and safer:

start specializing on various crafting skills, go search the materials, like bone chips with jobs that will have con mobs regarding the items you need to synthetize. this way you will get crystals, materials and exp...
when you are too high to gain exp, switch jobs and continue getting crystals materials and exp...
when all your jobs are high enough to be gaining exp... just change areas or monsters, and continue leveling up other craft skills...
this method is slow but a constant gain... you will never lack money to have most up to date equipment, spells and food for ALL your jobs.

this is how you play this game.

I wonder what people do when they hit that 75/37 mark.
Many different options:
A.)Stop playing until the next level cap is released
B.)Go back and try and get all the things that they missed.
C.)Finally start a new job and play the game all over again. (I think this is least likely to happen)

Who cares though. I guess I'm of the opinion that the sooner these people get to 75/37, the sooner they'll be bored with it, and the sooner they'll leave.

Actually this is what I'm in the process of doing right now. I'm killing creatures that give me 12 to 21 exp per fight and they drop items, lots of items and then I have a constant flow of gil. Plus I just got sick and tired of trying to get into and start decent parties, so I'm gonna see how far soloing can take me and make money in the process.

Plus I've thought about what I'll do when I reach level cap and basically if I'm not bored with the game by then I'm thinking about trying a little bit of each job at least til I get each to Lvl.60 so I can check out my character in each class's AF armor. Plus there's always maxing out your craft skills.

Wow ur so WRONG!!!!!!! This is how you play the game, and this might be a shock to some of you out there. YOu play it the way you want to and with the people you want. Gil is nice but dosen't make the world turn, you need to have fun and get a stable group of friends so u can have fun lvln.

you load up the play online viewer and select final fantasy. when the game loads you press random buttons and see what happens. thats playing. or you could /sit and bash two blocks together and build sand castles in the dunes. try volleyball with a tarutaru. try playing hide and seek in jeuno. treasure hunt at the AH. first person with the 6 objects on the list wins!!. try playing tag. try playing jump rope with a tunnel worm. play with a fire crystal and see how many limbs you can light before you begin to hurt. poke a dragon in the eye and run. play knock a door run on the president of bastok. skim stones of bastote ocean.play catch with a bomb arm. make friends with a sea horror. paddle in the wadi pools. form a band of bards and hold daily concerts. swim the boat journey from selbina to mhuara. play army with galka action figurines. sew some flower seeds in the sandorian castle grounds. draw a pretty picture. kiss a girl/guy depending on your gender and sexual persuasion. collect the latest craze!! the knights of the holy order trading cards!! something no kid should be without!! play witha yo-yo.twiddle your thumbs. booby trap the goldsmiths guild door. put a whooppe cushoin on the AH so when all those people sit down with their bazaars going... play hopsctoch with a mithra. hunt craft dinner. use playdough to recreate windurst. play football... (whoops i mean 'soccer')

and the list goes on.....

actually, people do go back and play other jobs...with same char or different char (in which case the do the quests over again too)

that's why you see some rank lvl 10 guy with a lvl 15 samurai or rdm.

clansman - great post - but you forgot a few

Box quadavs nekked in Pal mines, play patty cake with the Sea Monk that sometimes boards the ship otw to Mhuhara from Selbina, play poker with the pirates, try to get a Rock Lizard to climb a tree, Skydive or bungee jump from an airship, throw pebbles at the sharks at the beach at the Burm. Penn., smoke some mandigora bud with the ninjas in Norg, discover the recipe for Mithra Ale, streak through the glacier area nekked, try to coax a dragon to join your party, give the Duke of Jeuno a wedgie, give sightseeing tours to groups of newbs for a price, try to get a suntan in the Valkrum dunes, get married to a galka - get divorced because they cheat on your with a mithra and get married again to a tarutaru, de-level a lvl 75 character back to lv 1 and start over, donate all your worldly (vana'diel) possessions to the poor.

Guys, I actually had someone come up to me last night and say to me "Hi, how do you play this game?"

My response, "lol"
Her response, "Well, I just got it, thought it might be fun, but don't know how to play."
My response, "Did you get a manual? My first suggestion would be to read it. It will give you many ideas as to how to play the game." (the whole time I'm shouting to my LS, "OMG, someone just bought this game and has no idea how to play????" Because I figure in order to want this game you might have some idea as to how a MMORPG works....maybe not)
Her response, "Oh, okay thanks." and she runs off

I slapped myself in the forehead. I tried to be friendly (as I feel everyone should be newb-friendly) and told her she could ask questions as she had them, but as long as they were a little more specific than "how do you play?"

I'm not dissing newbs, just had a little trouble internalizing the whole "i just got this game cause it looked fun."

I did also direct her to this website, figuring at least she'd get some info on the game too......
