If you haven't learned after Quafim....Follow

After going through Quafim twice first as my blmg, not a big problem since blmg is a pretty laid back job =) Then as my whmg, which probably taught me party dynamics the best. Now I would imagine people people would understand their role, being 30+ in a party, and how to provoke properly, heal effeciently, skill chains, magic bursts, etc. But I am growing more impatient with these people. I have never kicked anybody out of my party, but I don't think others should have to help you with your job. Maybe I've been unfortunate with some people, but the game is unforgiving at these higher levels.

I hear ya on most of that.

Remember that there are people that play straight through with warrior or whatever (white mage is another, instead of going back a 2nd time through common ground and being able to pick up more valuable experience...not just the number kind).

By near 20 with complete noobs like myself in a group, we have no idea what skill chains we can do, some recall certain ones that we used in other groups with more knowledgeable "this is my 3rd advanced calss I'm leveling to 30" kinda people (I love you guys ;_; you make my learning experience that much better). I can see that by 30 there's still going to be a lot of us noobs that don't know skill chains by heart or have a crib sheet (I'm STILL looking for one, which is actually the reason I came to the general boards, to look for a post).

But aggro-management, whether you're a caster or melee, should definitley be something you have gathered by that time. I can give people slack, and will; but if it gets the party killed after I've explained it I'll be fed up enough to voice my distaste for the players style in group chat instead of in a tell. Yes I'm a **** head, but its the way you have to be with people that don't comprehend aggro-management in these games, esp when it means that Taru White Mage is going to die from a single hit or two on the IT mob you're fighting.

Healing efficiently I'm not sure on, depends how much of a breeze your groups are. If they're effecient and kill things quick, you're only really healing to keep one person up, and I'd wager even a galka mana pool can manage that without a problem. The more danger you're in as a healer the better as far as learning experiences go.

All of the above is my opinion, you can disagree, but I'll never admit they're wrong without you proving it :p.

hehe yeah, thats exactly what I mean.

There was a mithra thief in the best group I'd ever been in a few days ago (still is the best) who had one, he said he'd gotten one from a faq on gamefaqs. Went there and the link in the faq is gone dead now :(. That's what I get for not picking up the game when it came out :p.

Anyway, if you do find it I would be much obliged ^^

um i think you answered it for yourself.....

you've been thru twice, you learned diff things on each role. now maybe if you went thru with a melee char, you might know renkei, you might not. but assume you dont, someone would wonder how you got this far without knowing it.

i still meet melee players who dont know..and they dont even have their WS macroed with the delay..or even macroed without delay, etc...

so they stay in the group, get exp, level up..continue on as oblivious as always...

Qufim is the place where people either learn their jobs or die. It's the first truly dangerous place that many people go to level, and because of that the lower levels are constantly dead as they learn thier jobs and learn what they can take and what they can't. The early levels are hell, but once you get to lv 30+ you should have learned your job and know it well. if not your name WILL get around and you will be ignored and end up being one of those people that waits over 2 hours for a group. Since you've already made your way past lvl 30 don't worry about the idiots, after a few more levels you won't be seeing them anymore :p.

Just a quick note:

I'm leveling my WHM, and I came to realize one thing: if you think that, because my main is RDM, I'd have a pretty good handle on healing as a WHM, you'd be WRONG. The difference between WHM main-healer and RDM backup-healer is *astounding*, insofar as timing, pacing, and actually executing your responsibilities.

Just as an example, my RDM has fast-cast, and so I've come to expect that Cure2 takes X amount of time to cast. Unfortunately, my WHM does NOT have fast-cast. As a result, I was partially responsible for two deaths, last night, because my Cure2's went off late.

I'm not saying, "OMGOMG WAR IS SOOOO HRAD 2 PLAY!" But I am saying be careful before being too quick to judge. :)

yeah unfortunately it's true that there are some people who still end up not knowing 'anything' even after lvl 26+ when you move away from Quifim and xp somewhere else. I guess the only solution to this problem is to teach them how to do it. For example, a lot of people heard of Renkeis but are too lazy to do it. If they're not going to plan out a chain, plan it yourself and give it to them. If they ignore your plan, leave the group because you're just wasting your time. Your a mage, it takes 2 minutes to get a PT(mite dmg your reputation tho =/).

Anyway, I was in this really nice group that actually knew their renkeis by heart! When I joined in meleeing, they actually managed to make renkeis around my fast blade w/o stating what the renkei should be implemented.

Similar situation to mine..only I was an RDM playing a BLM at lvl 20. Typically, for an RDM you can chain nuke your spells and not get aggro(can't do it for some weird reasons anymore at higher lvls...so much hate ><). And when I was xping my BLM sub, I totally didn't realize that BLMs acquire spells earlier in the game and I was chain nuking clippers...all I can say is...holy crap the warrior couldn't provoke it off. I learned my lesson lol!

I would definatly hope people would understand what their job is suppose to do before lvl 30.

Yesterday I invited a RDM to my party because I was practicing MNK.
The person had lvl 7 armor (he was lvl 11) lvl 7 weapons, and insisted on being a Melee/Nuker.
He was an Elvaan, so I knew that Nuking wasn't in his best interest, because of low INT, and low MP.

I tried to explain to him about enfeebling, but he only once tied to cast poison (the worst enfeeble spell he had) and he interupted it by moving.
The group split up not long later, but I hope people like him are more willing to learn than they appear, otherwise no one will want them.

My favorite are WARs that will only provoke when the mob goes for the WHM. They don't want to provoke at other times because they "don't want to waste it"

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:
