You are correct, a mule is a second, third, etc. character whos main purpose is not to grow or train skills, tho they can, but is to store and or sell items. For 1$/mo on your account you create a new id, a new character and use him to store or sell items. Whereas now you can only have 7 item in the AH, with a mule you could have 14, plus his inventory space and mog house space for storate of crystals, armor, etc. Some people who do a lot of trading or want to be able to look for or check item pricing in different cities will get three mules, one in each starting city, so that you can be in Jeuno, Norg, etc and still do business in any of the starting cities. The way it works.... In each city somewhere near the AH is an NPC character who will transfer items to another character. When you click on him a trade menu pops up, you have to first enter the name of the character you wish to send something to (friend, or mule, or whomever), you must then hit ok, and then can place items in the trade menu. You then hit OK and the items darken, meaning they have been sent. The recieving character has to go to his mog house and open the delivery box and voila, there the items are for his use, sale, etc. Money can be sent as well as items, so it is possible to be in Jeuno, send money to your mule in Sandordia, have him buy an item you want at Sandorian prices, and then the mule can send it back to your main character. All legal and easy, just takes some time logging in and out characters if you do this very much. Good Luck and happy mule train.

If you're in Bostok... put the mule in Windhurst I'd say. Near all of the AHs there is an NPC who will let you send items and Gil to another player... so you can send stuff back and forth...even though a player or charater isn't online.

I use mine mainly for when my Main is out in the Wild and I need to log out... I can just log into my Mule and start bazaaring immediatly... that way I'm making money... even while I'm away from civilization. Not to mention the benefit of ahving access to 2 or 3 AHs. I'd say choose one spot.. so people will know where to look for you if you have some good stuff usually.

My Mule is logged on so much(wehnever I'm not playing)he's probably know to everyone in Bostok..... just sitting in the same spot all the time. I usually Stand when I have Good Stuff.

word.. hope this helps

A "MULE" is just that. It's an ALT character that you use to store items you can no longer store on your Main Character. You can send items and gil to any character on your server by talking to an NPC at the AH. Every AH has one of these NPCs who will gladly let you transfer items and gil to a Mule or friend in the game. That person doesn't even have to be sign into the game to receive the goods. You'll know you have the right NPC because the TRADE Window will appear and have an area to put name of the person you want to send the items/Gil to.

Note: Not all items are transferrible. Some items like Linkpearls, quest items, etc.. aren't transferrible. You'll know which ones won't work because they won't be highlighted.

The best time to start having your mule, IMO, is when you start trade skilling. When skilling up, you will often have way too much miscelanious items and crystals, that you can move all of your other stuff to your mule's mog safe. Also, doing this allowes you to move bazarable items to your mule. Anyway, for a dollar a month, it's not that bad of a deal.

*Thinks about starting a mule tonight.*
