I'm Dying Over Here!!!Follow

#1 Jan 15 2004 at 9:32 AM Rating: Decent
I slaved all day yesterday in San D'Oria to get enough gil to buy the Steam Scale Mail. I'm finally there as of this morning, but now I have to go all the way from SanD'Oria to Jeuno to buy it, and yesterday there were only two left!!!!

I'm at work now, dying to get home so I can rent a chocobo and get my armor before someone else does!!!! I hate this. I want my armor and I want it now. I've chopped trees, killed orcs, goblins, and stacked rabbit hides. I've done everything I could think of to make gil except sell my body, and I've earned my prize! Watch them all be gone when I get home. NOOOOOO!!!!

Ok. Rant over. But not in my mind.

Ok. Next time I do this I'm thinking I can do it differently. I shouldn't have changed my HP to SanD'Oria. I really didn't need to since everthing I was fighting was conned as Too Worthless to Be Worthwhile. So I'll keep it in Jeuno.

I could have switched jobs to a level 1, gotten myself killed outside San D'Oria, then spawned at HP in Jeuno. Teleportation by death!!! Instant!

I'll do that next time!!!!

I did it once too ... to save me the trip from vulkrum to west saruta baruta.

I didn't need to advance that class any further and the death wouldn't have de-level'd me ... and it saved me about 30-45min of traveling

The only problem with that is that it makes the Beastmen stronger.
UNless your not from that region or it's a n00b zone ....then I guess it doesn't matter too much..

I may be wrong, but I've heard that deaths from level 1-3 result in no EXP loss and don't affect conquest. If this is true, then the "Level 1 Express" is a good way to "warp" to homepoints with no negative consequences.

Does someone have any documentation proving or disproving this? If so, please share.

A level 1 character may or may not lose xp, but it really doesn't matter. At that level, a death is -100xp or so, nothing you can't get back in 1 or 2 kills.

As far as conquest goes, just kill your signet effect, and it won't affect conquest.

OO crap..keep forgetting about the death express. next time i'm going to leave my hp at selbina so i don't have to go ALL the way back from windhurst :) oo wait...i can't...no one invites lvl 1 in dunes x-) n/m :P

This isn't true. The beastmen get points for kills regardless of whether or not their kill had signet cast. Signet only works the other way around, adding points when beastmen are killed by someone with signet. And, of course, the crystal benefit.

However, the previous poster was quite correct in saying that very low (1-3) levels don't affect conquest, which is one of the reasons the newbie areas are pretty much always under the control of the adjoining kingdom. They also don't lose experience until level 4.

sorry.. u are wrong about not losing exp b4 lvl 4

I down level just right after I reach lvl 3 when I fight a even mob outside of west sarut.... I thought i won't have any exp loss but just right in front of my screen I see this Down level sign :(

I heard that if you die too much b4 lvl 4 or lvl 5, then u stopped losing exp, maybe someone can test it out :)

Levels 1-5 don't effect the conquest results. It was in an update awhile ago.

Since you are a RDM i wonder why you spend that much on armor that give only +2 to your armor and resist better to elemental damage. (brass scale mail 21 armor, compare to 23 for steam scale mail) i don't know if you got already protect II but it give u + 25 to your armor for half hour !!! I want to bought the steam scale mail but half price for double the efficiency, protect II give me more for less, so i spend the rest of my gil on anything that can give me +1 to attribute (STR,AGI,VIT) so now with a +2 to all my attribute im no more a lv 27 RDM but a 29 RDM because of my equipment !!!

This should give you hope Lorelai,

Find some trusted friends, usually Linkshell people or RL friends, make sure your all near 30th level or above, the higher the better, go out to Dangruf Wadi, bring a 30th level theif for treasure hunter II, and hunt the NM monster "geyser Lizard". If your lucky, he'll drop the Steam Scale Mail and you'll be about 30k richer for not having to buy it.

These days, I just FIND my armor and weapons, and they all happen to be rares that run for about 25-30k.

Hope it brightens your day.

I just buy the scrolls of instant warp. I always have like 8000 conquest points sitting around doing nothing. I really need to up my rank.

And speaking of CId's water test, i didnt even realize i had hit the right patch of water until i was "Ghetto warped" against my will. Checked my key items like an hour later doing a quest and found out.

damnit! why cant low levels influence conquest results? I had plans to go to bumburinu as a lev 1 monk, set my home point there and suicide for an hour or two to help the beastmen out and keep bastok ahead of windy in conquest!

That's exactly why they disallow it - to stop pathetic tactics such as that.
