Paladin Kite Shield Problem :: World of Warcraft

I don't know if anybody elase have noticed but there seems to be a big problem to Paladins Kite Shield after the January 12th update. As a level 27 Paladin, I was armored with a Turtle shield (Level 24, Def:6) with a defence stats. of 148 (protect casted).

I leveled to 28 and equipped Kite shield which boosted my Defence stats. to 162, hmm cool i thought. After the update, my defence stats. dropped back to 148 with the kite shield equipped, I also tried the Turtle shield and to my surprise, i got the same defence status as the Kite shield (Level 28, Def:8).

Ever since then, everytime i level my Paladin, my defence stats. stays the same. This is very frustrating 'cos it makes my Paladin look useless, i can barely hold aggro and have the same def stats with a warrior of the same level as mine. Square Enix, please fix this.

Turtle shield has VIT+3 which increases Defence by 1.5. As a result, Turtle shield looks to have 7 or 8 Defence depending on the other equipments with VIT boost. Kite shield has 8 Defence so it's okay if Turtle shield and Kite shield gives you the same Defence. I guess you had ProtectII when your defence was 162.

I think Turtle shield is better than Kite shield because VIT decreases damage you take in two ways: increasing Defence and decreasing max damage directly.

Thanks Ecue. You were right, you hit the nail on the head. I had protect II when Turtle shield was equipped. Also thanks for the info. about Vit. I learned more. Now i feel better leveling my Paladin. Thanks dude.
