Not exactly relevant to anything, but I'm sitting at work with FF on the brain (I've been reading the boards since 7:30 this morning....all week actually).

So...here's my question....

If you bother to read what Brutus(??) tells you when you're going to get your chicken license, he says he won't give you a chicken unless you prove that you won't abandon it. Fine. Wonderful. Whatever.

What's the first thing you do once you get your chicken license???....abandon the chicken you've nursed back to health.

And what do you do after you're finished riding your rent-a-chicken?...jump off just outside of town and they run away from you.

Bottom line. I want a chicken of my very own. I would love him, and care for him, and I would call him Squooshy.

I want a pair of Chocobos. I would call them Chocolate and Chicklet, I think. At least I would always have something along on trips to satisfy my sweet tooth .. unless they melted in the desert or got chewed up by mobs, I suppose.

those are other chocos you're renting and dismounting from..they then run back to their stable (conclusion drawn from the unseen forces that cause the chocobo rental price to rise)

as for not abandoning that one bird, well...you and i and every one else had the same bird, how can he be so sick all this time. truth is, the abandonment part is those 5-6 hrs/times when you're feeding and helping the bird. of course no one will abandon it b/c then you dont get your license. after that, it remains behind at that stable.

not too hard to notice another way of seeing this storyline..hehe

one thing that would be interesting would be, beastmasters can tame wild chocobos from certain zone(s), keep them a while for full taming (so it's not as easy as tame/sell), and sell them off to players . that would make a huge increase in the # of beastmasters.

You don't actually abandon the chocobo. After nursing it back to health, you will notice Dietmund comes to claim the chocobo, which he says is his. This quest is actually an extension (or prequel) to the beastmaster quest, though neither are dependent upon each other for the other's completion. Once you finish the beastmaster quest, you will see that the chocobo is Dietmund's and that after realizing how far he has strayed from the beastmaster path, he leaves the chocobo there, to return later. Brutus says that Dietmund is a good beastmaster and will come back for the chocobo eventually.
