Missing Weapon SkillFollow

#1 Jan 14 2004 at 9:36 AM Rating: Decent
I recently found out that like myself, others are missing weapons skills that should have been attained once reaching a certain mastery lvl with a weapon. I was lvling my club with my monk. When I reached (and even surpassed) lv40 with it I shoulda got Seraph Strike, but did not. The battle log said I learned it, but it never showed up (and still hasn't) in my WS menu. Similarly and monk I partied with surpass lv70 with h2h and didn't receive Inch Punch. Does anyone out there have any idea as to what's up? Or Does anyone have any similar stories to share?

Some weapon skills are exclusive to certain jobs. For instance, Red Lotus Blade (Sword skill) is exclusive to Warrior, Paladin, and Dark Knight I believe. As a Red Mage, I learned the skill but cannot use it. If I subbed even a level 1 Warrior I'd earn the skill though.

Seraph Strike is only available to WHM, WAR, PLD, DRK, SAM.

Exclusive skills are granted to those jobs whose main proficiencies lie in the given weapon skill. This page is a good resource:

Interesting. I knew that ranged weapons skills were exclusive to Rangers, but I didn't know about the Seraph Strike exclusivity. Does this mean that if a lvl a mage and use my club, Seraph Strike should be available to me?

Yes, as long as your proficiency with club is high enough. Which it would be when you reach level 14 WHM.

I am not sure if you are planning on using Monk as main job, but just in case you are I have to say this. It would be a travesty if you did not use H2H with a Monk. They are awesome at any lvl to play with. Monks get 2 advances in their H2H abilities as part of job class. Guess this really only applies if you plan to use Monk for the long haul, but figured I would say it anyways just in case.
