In my opinion.

Dragoons are somewhat less popular for the fact that, while the DRK quest is the easiest, DRG is the hardest, and one of the longest. It's a bit troublesome to find someone willing to help rush you, although it can be done. You really have to have your heart set on being a DRG to stick it out all the way through.

I love the bards :( just most people like to be doing the most damage instead of being pure support or a pure healer.

I can honestly say the only advanced class I have never grouped with is beast master. Though I've been with at least 6 bards recently.

This is just what I've noticed on my server (Quetzalcoatl)

Dark Knight
Dragoon
Paladin
Beast Master
Bard
Samurai
Summoner
Ninja
Ranger

The last three are pretty much interchangable, and maybe Samurai could be too. Valkurm and Jeuno area seem to be flooded with Dark Knights and Dragoons anymore. I've never actually partied with a Beast Master, but I've seen a lot of them while traveling.

I'm sure other people on my server have their own lists, this has been my experience.

When I started out, I was deadset on being a Dragoon, and I still plan on at least acquiring the class, but my ultimate focus has shifted to Ranger.

Yea.. On Carbuncle when I checked... out of 3450 ppl playing.. only 40 of the were summoners

Here's what I've observed:

This could be influenced by area since I'm mostly around Windurst.

I see a lot of Samurai, as well as Dark Knights, but that is mostly between the Ronfaure, Zulkheim, and the Gustaburg. Haven't been to Jeuno yet to get a good sampling of my server (god knows I should be there by now though).

As for Most Wanted, I'd have to say

Paladin
Bard
Ranger
Dark Knight
Dragoon
Samurai
Ninja/Summoner/Beast Master

The last 3 are on par with each other for least desired in a group setting. The only exception is if the Summoner has WHM as a sub and Garuda. Then Summoner jumps up to be equal to Dragoon.

I used to believe the theres way more dragoon than anyone else, but looking at /sea all DRG results it comes out more like this

RNG/BRD
BST
SMN

I think it looks like theres more dragoons because the Wyverns stand out. also, also look at it from the point of view from the players, classes like PLD and WHM get snatched up fast, so it looks like there's far far less than say, DRG, who are picked up as filler for a full party.
