Hey, I was just browsing through ebay and came across a post for ffxi. Apparently ppl are selling guides on how to make 10K Gil per hour starting off from a lvl 1 character! .. I was wondering if anyone knows whether this is legitimate or not?..

Not at lvl 1, but I can make that farming certain areas once THF reaches lvl 15

Adjust the resolution of menus.
The main screen resolution for "FINAL FANTASY XI" is dependent on the "Overlay Graphics Resolution" setting.
If the Overlay Graphics Resolution is set higher than the Menu Resolution, menus will be automatically resized.

I thought of it first:

5k-8k per hour isn't an unreasonable goal when you're going from lvl.1 with good farming practices.

For instance, last night I went from 1-5 with a thief in about an hour. I never actually had to /heal... With my Monk sub, H2H weapon, and a couple of meat mithkabobs: I would kill so fast that I would level and get my HP restored before the mobs had me hurting. By the time I got to lvl5 I had enough drops to sell for about 5-6k at auction (depending on the market). It's slower passed 5-6, but if you go for the best Crystals/Drops you'll make A LOT of money getting to level 15. Just only fight easy mobs, and never PT. :)

P.S. Don't buy those "guides." There aren't any "secrets" to making cash, just common sense (though that can be elusive enough for most people). ;)

I suppose through some combination of gardening and crafting skills this is quite possible (even more), or if you're in a REALLY good level 1 party killing the weakest crawlers or other farm loot dropping <level 5 mob when no one else is around farming them and they let you have all the loot. So yes, it *could* be done...but as someone just starting with their first level 1 job and following a guide you bought on e-bay, not bloody likely.

Get a character to say lvl 10.
Create a new character (dont delete the old one).
Send your new character all the money your old one had.
Start fishing with the money.
Sell the fish you catch, and keep fishing with the profits you make.
Keep doing it until you can make 10K in 1 hour.

Oh, be sure not to go out and fight any monsters, you might accidently gain lvl 2 =P

10K in an hour at level 1? THAT'S BULLS*$#!!!

Some poor ******* is getting ripped off on this. And if it were possible, it would highly be based on luck. I'm going on the assumption that this "magical guide" is going to tell you teo sell at the AH. We all know that the only thing that sells on a regular basis at the Auction house are crystals. At level one, you wont be seeing too many fire crystals. This is the reason why Earth crystals sell for sh#@!

If it were 1,000, I might say it's possible (because even then, it would be amazing), but 10K is waaayy too much.

let me tell you foe free. Start a new char in bastok, then get your charter to fedex it some cash around 1k give or take, then do a couple bastok quest around 10 i think, then do the quest to get the warp spell worth around 10k at the AH on fairy. all with a lv.1 toon.

Yep that's what the guides say. The other option is to start in Sandoria and purchase 7 stacks of bat wings to get the drain scroll.

Both will work, but aren't guarenteed money. Also on Siren you would be hard pressed to sell a Warp scroll for 10k or more now. Most places are going for 5-7k.

Here is a quick break down on the ways to make money in the game and the pro's and cons as I see it.

1. Farm. This means get signet and kill only easys.

Pros, anyone can do it starting from level 1. If you target right creatures, you can up the odds you will get better crystals (fungars, bats, V.S. Worms and Rabbits).

Cons, boring. Nowhere near 10K/hr.

1a. herding

Get a mage job up to the level where you get AoE (-ga) spells. Round up a bunch of really weak creatures and drop a bomb on them.

Pros, You amaze the n00bzors with your l33t Aoe killing.

Cons, The second heard never seems to have as much ph4t l00tz. Can be dangerous.

2. Quests

Pros, you can get items and money fast and two early quests will get you scrolls that sell for a lot.

Cons, you may need to level up or get a freind to help you get the RARE EX drops needed. The really good quests are one shot so while you could do 10K/hr ONCE then it's over. And it's in about the 3rd hour. ;)

3. Crafting

Pros, Make Money Fast!

Cons, You need to invest a TON of money and time first. The investment will pay off, if crafting doesn't bore you to tears. You are also at the mercy of the AH for both buying and selling. Hint, people use up food/bait and need more later.

4. Fishing

Pros, make steady money.

Cons, boring. Takes a fair amount of time and money to get to a skill level where it pays off. (Quickie guide, you level up fastest with the cheapest rods and bait. Cheapy rods break a lot, so buy a bunch.) Boring. Takes a lot of inventory. You need to learn which rods and bait work in which bodies of water.

5. Register more characters and play the Auction house.

Pros, You take advantage of human nature, which always pays.

Cons, Costs RL money and quite a bit of time as you comb the AH prices and make notes.

6. Level up another job.

If you save your gear and level up a job that can re-use your old gear, you can make OK money from drops. Leveling up RDM after WHM was a money maker for me since I already had half the spells and all the armor and equipment.

7. Sell a guide called "Make Gil fast!" at the AH.

Just kidding of course.

8. Get in an LS where the people like to give you money.

If you find one, get me in!
