Does any travel out of the way to...Follow

#1 Jan 13 2004 at 11:08 AM Rating: Decent
I'm newbie, I'll admit it. I have a question to all. Has anyone traveled way out of the way into another kingdom just to get an item you want. For instance, I am a BLM lvl 6 and I found an item on this site that I want to get. Well I am from Bastok and the item is sold in Windhurst. I haven't traveled outside of Bastok yet (except for the surroinding land) but I am not sure that is wise because of the cost of travel. Should I just stick with what I can get in the surrounding area for now?

1) Have you checked the auction house in your city for the item in question?

2) Make a friend to travels, ask them to buy the item for you the next time they're in another city.

Though, as a 6th level black mage... I can't see any item that you'd actually be able to use that would be worth the trip.

Check the auction house.

What is the item? I hardly think anything is worth the trip at such a low level.

That's what I mean. I didn't know if it was worth it. It's a lvl 8 tunic with an extra 9def. I can of course get to lvl 8 in a day. yay or nay? I guess another reason I wanted it is because I am tired of my character wearing the starter gear. And no, I haven't checked the AH for that item yet but I will. AH would probably be expensive though enev though I don't know the price of the item. I'm already starting to think that maybe the trip isn't really worth it.

Some of your best times will be exploring. I love it, although you dont want to be to terrible low level i say around lvl 10 once you get the knack of things to go exploring. It takes forever and can be very exhilarating. Put yourself in the characters shoes,

Stay away from monsters, just take in the beauty of the land and the design of these zones. Do what you want. Chances are thought that the item you want will be at your AH. If not now, soon enough.

Well, to be honest, making a run from Bastok - Windurst would likely cost you your life. I am in no way saying it is impossible, but there is a definate risk involved.

The route you would have to take (to survive) looks like this:

Gustaburg
Konschtat Highlands
Valkurm Dunes
Selbina (boat from here to next zone, 100g)
Mhaura
Buburimu Peninsula
Tahrongi Canyon
Sarutabaruta

I would strongly advise you to just use the AH, or find some willing soul already in Windurst to purchase it for you and send it to you. I've done this many times for people, so I'm sure you can find someone on your server.

I just really don't recomend that far of a journey for 1 item. ^^

Dont do it for the item. Do it for the adventure. Bastok, Sandoria and windurst all have their newbie areas where you can fight and have fun and explore. The adventure to get there at your level though is very dangerous. But why the hell not?

Its a game, have fun with it. Im sure youll have great stories to tell. Why wait till your a god level and only see your imediate area then walk through the land with no real threat and challenge. Just keep in mind, yes, you probably will die. But not if your carefull.

Well, thank you all for your comments. I have decided that maybe the trip isn't really worth it espeicially if I can find it at the AH. I would love to make the trip for taking in the sites and the adventure alone but I don't feel that I am ready for traveling routes that are too dangerous just yet. Thanks again.

Yes. When I was practicing WAR I went from Bastok to San d'Oria for a Claymore, because there were none for sale in Bastok.

Luckily I had my Chocobo Licence otherwise I probibly wouldn't have made the trip.
