Have we tried storming an area yet?Follow

Ok...this might have been answered already in the past, but I ain't goin through 200 pages of posts to find it :p Have we ever tried storming an area yet? Like...expanding the kingdom kinda thing? For instance, in San d'Oria, organizing a massive strike on the Ghlesba Region?

I'm talking, literally war here. We round up as many players as possible, form groups based on character's levels, so that everyone is evenly spread out, and head into an area to try taking it over? I mean...it might not even be possible...who knows...I'm just tryin to think "Globally" here :p

So does anyone think it's a good idea? Or am I pissin in the wind? :p Let me know ;)

I've actually been planning this for a while now. I've been putting off any kind of large scale organization as of yet because of my lvl but I just hit lvl 25 last night so I suppose it's about time. I'm on the Garuda server. Lvl 25 BLM/ Lvl 10 WHM. Same name :)

I'm in Windhurst (although I havn't left Jueno in over a week). I don't know anything about the expeditionary forces yet but I will look into that as soon as possible if this is it's point. I have been wanting to take the canyon back since my first couple weeks of playing this. It's a nasty place (especially the maze) that people love to stroll through when they are far to low a lvl so it will be hard to regain controll, but I'm determined. I figure I start with the canyon and then spread out.

If anyone is on Garuda and is interested, send me a message in the game some time. Some time soon, I hope to see a flood of taru laying waste to the beastmen in the canyon. Organization is the key.

On topic: The TwinklingTreant-"war" showed that a large group could get organised pretty good.

Off topic: what's the deal on thse exp. forces anyway? how do you join and what are the requiremetns? Have to have finished all missions of your home-town?

My Linkshell has been organizing days each weekend to go into the Kolshuhu Region on Phoenix server and do nothing but fight in that region to try and gain influence. We typcially have between 30 people in the region for an all day event lasting most of the early afternoon and into the evening and continuing during the night as people come back from dinner breaks.

Suffice it to say that I doubt that 3 strong groups we had fighting in Bubu for 12 hours made much of a dent in the influence. So it would appear the only reasonable way to actually take over an area is thru the use of E.F. parties. Unfortunatly theres not much information on the Conquest system other than 'get signet and go fight in an area'. If anybody here has any other info on it, it would be greatly appreciated.

Some LS friends of mine and I may be trying our first ex. Force mission in qufim tonight, so I'll let you know how it goes.

Ok, well I haven't heard of any E.F. in my area, and if they're around I think they should advertise a lil more. My point was a lil more based on the idea of full-scale invasion though. Not everyone is a lvl 25 or higher...but some are still able to do enough damage to make a difference in a group.

What I had in mind was a large gathering of about 40-50 players, and then divided into teams of five, with a base for each team to have at least 1 tank, 1 nuker, and 1 healer. The other two can be variables, based on lvl and job. We'll call these the infantry. (I'm noticing we'd need more than 50 players for this to be effective...so let's say 100). Next we take our 20 infantry groups and send them out in waves...maybe 5 groups per wave...to eliminate the chance that any beasts will be missed or left behind. We take each area one by one...for instance we take over Ghelsba Outpost...wait and regroup...then the Fort...etc, etc.

Again...this is just an idea, and maybe it will spawn action if enough people take part and take interest. Although...everyone's feedback about the idea is well appreciated, along with criticism. So feel free to say your peace, or add any ideas :)

Sure sounds fun but what are you trying to accomplish with it? Just go take a look in Qufim, millions of players there doing nothing but fighting, still the area is under the control of beastmen every other day :P

You can't just storm an area and "take it over" since mobs respawn.

I know that it might seem pointless, but has a massive strike been attempted? I mean, I'm not looking to wipe out beasts from an area...what would we fight if we did that? I'm thinking more about taking dominant control over an area. And if anything...it's a chance to take a MMO game and utilize it all the way! Yeah...we do groups...but how often do you get to take your characters into a full scale, organized "war" so to say...and see how things pan out?

We're playing a game that is meant to be multiplayer...yet most of us run around and solo, or we form groups of 5-10 and do combat that way. How cool would it be...if just that...to head out with 100+ players and fight? Personally...I think that'd rock! ;) But again...like I said...for or against...thnx for the feedback!

I guess it hasn't been attempted yet. Well actually it has if you count the Twinkle Tree thingy, and since most people burned up their computers due to the lag those events created I'm not too sure what would happen :)

The problem is that there would be no gains from it, no decent amount of xp would be gained due to all the different levels and probably 2 low or high lvl mobs in the zone. And no loot would be received either since you would be in a full party.

Last of all, it would be no different from any other crowded place imo, since when the first wave have gone through, the mobs have respawned for the second wave.. and things would just repeat themselves.

BUT creating a mission (or a zone perhaps) where you would have to have like 20 players with ya to be able to succeed with the given mission would be fun.

I believe you should be looking at Everquest if thats what you are looking for :). Seriously tho, I can understand what you are asking to do and it sounds like very much fun. If you were to do something like this then do it for the experiance and the fun of it, and don't count on this tactic to take over an area. Realisticly from what I have seen so far, if 30-40 people making a concentrated effort to take an area over in conquest can not make a dent in the influence charts over a 12 hour period, I doubt that doubling that number of people would do much good either.

Like I said, I'd do it for the sheer fun of it and the experiance, but set your expectations accordingly. I don't know how many weekends in a row my LS has tried this on a smaller level and then been disapointed when our efforts have gone unnoticed by the conquest system each Sunday after the tally.

Absolutely...there is much more to gain when it comes to XP, conquest points, gil, and items to sell and use for crafting. If anything it's more like a massive farming campaign! But it would be interesting to see if it did effect anything on a bigger level. We've seen it with the Twinkling Treats (spelling?)...but more or less, it's an idea to get people together...if anything to farm, gain xp and conq. points, and people in the lower levels can learn more about party fighting and things of that sort. Good feedback...thnx for responding everyone :)

I am actually hoping the PVP will be something like this, never know. But I think it would be cooler to have a Battle Royale kinda thing where a nation fights a nation according to lvl ^^ But I think that's too much to ask, I will just stick with lvling my bard for now ^^

Yeah, we saw a similar phenomonon with the Treants. On Leviathan server, fighting the South Gustaberg tree, there were rallies and war cries. Shouts go this way and that, groups of fifty or more players. And howls of 'Bastok unite!'. It was wicked cool, and for a second.. I couldn't help but think that Bastok could pull out of third place and maybe take of some regions..

We were doing it, we were showing some patriotism. It was so cool!

And then someone claimed to have offed the Treant. But because no one else saw it die, arguements rippled. And everyone apart and went their own way.

So much for Bastokan unity.

It would be an awesome idea, if you could make it work. But if anything, the Treants taught me that leadership and charisma had to be the key. Bastok had no leader. A good leader would have told everyone else to hold on while he checked with a ranger to see if the mob still existed or not, then sent everyone to North Gustaberg.

We had no such leader.

Good luck, hopefully you can rouse Windhurstian spirits better than anyone tried to in Bastok. ^_^

I'm not seeing the conflict here, the LS that I am apart of has done this. Last Saturday we raided the canyon and fought all afternoon into the evening and after the tally found that we had gained control of the Canyon after many attempts. I believe it was the sheer number of people helping out as this past turnout was considerably higher than previous attempts. We've had control for almost a week now and growing.
