Insect Paste
Fishing. Catch Moat carp. A stack is usually around 4k on my server. I made an easy 40k alone today with fish.. About to drop in 2 more stacks, so make that almost 48k.

Be a thief and farm mobs that drop good loot. Once you get enough money (several hundred thousand) level up a craft skill. Do all your powercrafting on items that lose you the least money on a day matching the crystal and on or near the full moon at the guild for whatever it is you are leveling and get the advanced assistance for the best possible results. Find where you can buy the componants at a shop (or hunt them), NEVER buy from the AH when leveling your crafting. When you get into the 30-40's you will begin to make money. When you get into the 60's and beyond you will pretty much have a license to print gil because you will be critting regularly and getting double yields and +1 items.

Fishing is a great way to get started in this game. Although I don't really agree too much with the Glass Rod or even a Carbon Rod, since they are expensive and I've broken at least two of each fishing for Moat Carp. Go with a simple Bamboo Rod, and Insect Paste for bait. If your in the San d'Oria area, fish at Knightwell in W. Ronfaure. Load up on two rods (just in case...only 500 gil each) and a few stacks of insect paste. Given some patience, you can go back to the city with 3 stacks or more of carp, which will sell around 4k each (on my server at least) and that will fuel your next trip out to fish. It takes patience, but once you get your skill up a bit, your all set to rake in some $$$. Once you've made a small fortune, start leveling a craft...and you'll be on your way in no time :)
