OK, I feel all the melee's pain about solo'ing. GOSH is it frustrating and soo not worth it.

First off, let me start out by saying that I solo'd my RDM about 90% of the time up to lvl 29, and it was pretty easy. Hopefully (I said hopefully) I can continue this trend into the mid 30's. But I decided to take a break over the weekend and lvl my THF to 15 for Treasure Hunter so when I hit 30 with my RDM, I can do so legit craft/gil/NM hunting.

So I took out my lvl 12 thf to WRonf near the La Theine entrance and the mobs were going down fairly easy (of course these were "easy to kill" mobs). I moved into La Theine, and started whacking on a DC/High Defense rabbit. Boy was that a mistake. Nearly took me down with Dia and 2 CureI, and only 50xp to show for it?? I'm thinking OK, maybe the high defense got me, so I took down just a DC rabbit and still the same result. Geez this must suck. I'm only doing about 9-12dmg per hit with my sword so who would want a THF in their group?? I'm not even doing enough dmg output to be considered melee.

I feel all Melee's pain. Even more so, I feel every THF's pain.

Try joining groups that are hunting Beastmen. Not only will your "Steal" be more effective but you'll be increasing the amount of gil dropped for the entire party.

Per soloing, yeah, melees aren't any good at it. But WHM's are worse. On the other hand, RDM's are viable, solo, well into the 20's. Higher than that, I don't know.

I noticed that there's a huge perspective gap between RDM's and WHM's, particularly. I duo a lot with a WHM friend. When he sees a Tough, he says, "EEP! WATCH OUT!" I say, "ARRR! C'MERE YA SCURVY *******!"

For groups, THF is an awesome class for aggro management at higher levels. Fuidama, I believe it's called - the Trick + Sneak + Viper combo.

I, on the other hand, say 'Sic em you manly Taru you!!'

This is pretty funny when the Taru in your party happens to be a bard and you have 2 Galkan tanks. It's really great when you have a party that's not power levelling and you actually see the Taru do it.

If you are soloing you should go to the lake in La Theine and kill worms, they are easy and gives good exp if you are lvl 11-13, thats what I did after that I found a party at valkurm and leveled from 13-18 in 12 hours with the same party.
