Mithra's / RLFollow

#1 Jan 11 2004 at 3:40 AM Rating: Decent
There have probally been similar posts before, but can't seem to find one... I'm just wondering about the people that play Mithra's, in RL are you male or female? Just about Mithra I've met in-game seemed to have a male-type personality, but I didn't want to ask as I feel some people may see the question as rude, or just too OOC. Let's keep this short and sweet, if you play a Mithra in game, just reply with "Male" or "Female" - no need to list your char name even (unless you want to ^^).

If enough ppl respond, I'll count up the results and post a new thread with the tally in a couple days for all that are curious as I am.

Thx all :)

There are actually some quite long threads on this subject and the result was 12 year old boys like to play Mithras. But since its been awhile this thread will probably get 50+ replies.

Why does it matter? This game is a Massively Multiplayer ROLE PLAYING Game.

I chose to play the role of a Mithra. Does it matter what gender I am? No. It doesn't.

But for your poll--- Male.

Accually I believe all I could learn from this is if more males or females are using the forum so nm lol ^^

Anyone find it odd that men don't mind playing mithras but I've never met a real life female that will play a Galka?

Does this once and for all prove that women are more sexist than men? ;)

BTW I applaud any RL female with enough guts to play a Galka.

Male, play mithra on the server Asura under the name of Fencat, bring on the flame :P
Did I do this to get free stuff?
No, everything and anything I have I got myself.
Did I do this to get more help?
No, I read *gasp* the manual, there is ALOT of info there and the patch is damn near 2 hours long. Gives you lots of time to read.
So why did I do it? Simple: Boobs are fun.
Oh and Im not 12, Im 24 :P

Too bad this question doesn't come up when we're talking about females playing Galkas.

Who cares. This is a RPG, and given the male/female ratio of video game players, Mithras would be hard to find.

Lets look at stats also. Mithras have the highest dex and agil.

Wanna be a theif/ninja/ranger? Guess what's the best race to be, too bad Square Enix decided to "Role Play" and not let you be a male.

It's not just this game though. I played AO, there was no Female Only race, yet guys still played female chars. BUT There was a male only race called Atroxes, and they weren't even as fat and ugly as Galkas. Yet I've never met a single female in real life who played an Atrox either.

And it wasn't like this game where race didn't really matter in the end. Cause in the end of AO Atroxes were vastly superior in strength and stamina, yet still real life females would rather play a female Solitus (Hume) Enforcer (main Atrox class) than play an Atrox.

Male and Mithra player, I think maybe FFXI put mithras as a female only race for this very reason, so males could play females and not feel pursecuted about it. In game I never mention my rl sex, and you know what, no one asks, maybe they know I am male, maybe they just don't care, maybe they are shy. If they asked I would tell the truth, and as soon as any guy makes an advance I will make sure he understands just what I am. I don't expect to get the, 'OMG, you are gay!' line from anyone old enough to shave, as for the rest, put you pimple cream on and get to school, YOU are LATE, oh wait, it is sunday, nm, just go away.

Anyways, people always assume what they see on screen is what they see in real life, well it isn't, I haven't seen to many rl women that look like mithra's, and besides, humans don't have tails and cat ears and fur!

Now I don't know what your reason is, but being a hetrosexual man I thought all the men looked, well, ugly, so I got tired of looking at them and went mithra. FFXI has way better camera system then EQ, so 99% of the time you are in 3rd person.

I don't know why they didn't just say the mithra are female only like the galka, i guess they 1) wanted a female dominated society somewhere and 2) didn't want to use the same idea. There are female only species on Earth, a type of lizard, they still need another to reproduce, but they don't mix DNA, so thier daughters are exact genetic duplicates of the mother, i.e. natural cloning. I wonder if this is how the galka really do it...actually, I don't want to know anymore.

Ok, i am gonna stop before I warp my mind and your mind anymore.

*mumbles*Two galka*shudder*

It said that Galka reproduce through some form of reincarnation.. So they dont really reproduce at all, just sort of die and are born again.

No species can survive without genetic variation, aphids do exactly what you just described, but even they have males and sexually reproduce at certain times. Even single celled organisms that reproduce through division swap genes with each other (and occasionally other species of single celled organinisms as well).

Mithra are probably like lions, the females do all the work and the males just lay around all day. If Square had allowed PC mithra males then you'd have lots of male mithra running around when the race is supposed to have a higher number of females than males.

Square-Enix does confirm Galka re-incarnate themselves to continue their existance, and the Mithran society operates in an almost parallel to the Amazonian tribes or the greek Mythos like the one on the Isle of Lesbos (no joke). The females are lead by a Chieftaness, and are very aggressive and pro-social while the men take up the subversive role of playing procreation tool.
And in response to the start of the thread, I'm a Male Mithran and I simply chose it because it seemed balanced to me at the start to become any job but with better AGI and DEX than Humes. And it's just a game so play it how you want. My LS refers to me as "she" yet everyone knows I'm a guy.

I think I've finally figured the mithra out. They're a race of futa catgirls, that why you never see any male mithra.

Umm, no, it is called parthenogenesis, and since the eggs are viable WITHOUT fertilization, it is kinda hard to mix something elses DNA. The only chance for variation is mutations.

Sorry this thread went off-topic, but it was a stupid topic to begin with, who cares if a mithra is rl male, if you came on this game looking for love you came to the wrong place, the URL you were looking for was lifemates.com or russianladies.com or whatever, not playonline.com.

hehe maybe the galka are the male mithra and vice-versa... in nature there are many species where the males look extremely different from the females.

wow. parthenogenesis? o_O

i play a mithra and i'm female. on my friends list there are lots of other mithra, but i only know the actual sex of three of them.. one is another female, the other two are guys. interestingly, the guys both asked me to keep their sex a secret so that they could continue pretending to be chicks...

I'm female here as well. I play guy characters all the time, especially in games like Diablos where certain jobs were specific to a certain sex. Rogues and Sorceresses are cool, but Necromancers were just awesome.

Basically, I'm going to pick something for it's stats. Not for what it does or does not have hanging below it's belt. I wanted to be a Thief in FFXI, and I felt a Mithra was the most adequate for that position. If I wanted to be a Warrior, I probably would have chosen a Galka.

im male and play a mithra for no other reason than that i think they look cool.

im 25 and happily married

and anyone who wants to use the argument against me that im really gay or wish i was a woman or whatever should be sure to remind all the tarutaru players that they are pedophiles

Um.. I kinda think this thread is silly not because of the male/female RL thing, but because it's a race that has only one gender choice. There's the fans of catgirls picking hte race, and there's also the people who want to be the 'best' of a certain class, which in certain cases is a mithra which has only one playable gender.

The more important question is how many of the super-huggable Tarutaru ladies are real ladies!! n.n (Kidding)

-P.S. if it helps, just assume male unless proven otherwise. Or better yet, assume potato until proven otherwise.

Don't kid yourselves people!

Real life is a ROLEPLAYING game. If you are a male, do you roleplay a female in real life???

Whether your answer is yes or no,
Question answered.
