A little rant of mine:
Reccently, I've bumped into several people with Usernames that make me cringe. I can't even begin to imagine what is going through some people's minds when they name themselves after STDs and slang for urine or *****. O_o
I mean, just out of respect for themselves they could use a proper Proper Noun.

I just don't see the appeal. X_X

Little kids with stunted minds. Nothing unusual. I tend to make it a rule that I wont associate with people who have childish names.
Worst/best name I ever saw was Claritin. Was a bit hard partying with the person when I wanted to laugh every time I saw 'em.
On my old server (Odin) there were a pair of Taru, one BLM and one WHM, named Thepope and Therabbi. Cracked me up.

Can't believe someone would name themselves Microsoft?! It was a Japanese player, I believe. For Eponine, I saw her running in W.Raunfaure, and started running after her, /saying things like "A little fall of rain, can hardly hurt me now",... or, "Eponine what's this I see? There's something wet upon your hair!". A few moments later she replied in a string of Japanese characters that probably meant ****-off!

Names like that or along creative lines and acceptable to my eyes. Not what the original poster is really referring to.
Well, naming oneself after an allergy medication is cringeworthy to me. So sorry not to pass muster with you.

Lol. Doesnt matter. But original poster is complaining more about names that are blantently suggestive of bodily functions or sexual inuendo I think. Like a Tarutaru who is running around with the name Gynecologist. Names can be offensive or childish in other fashions as well. Like the guy I saw called Hiroshima. I dont believe there is any kind of name screening process either which is a shame. But oh well.

I actually like how "Syphilis" looks when writen down.
When I was picking a name my highest priority was to find a name that actually looked good, and I did not care about the meaning.

Yeah I chose my name after the strange city in Final Fantasy One.. But anyways, yeah I see some pretty crazy names... Nothing quite as bad as on EQ though. I'm still waiting to run into Jay and Silent Bob... :)

Its bad when people put there names. It is easy to spell the names but at least put some thought into it.
Also on the topic of names, I saw the dumbest thing before the person left server, Kain (we all know from FF2 aka FF4 ***) was a Bard, not a Dragoon, WTF Man. If your reading this please go Dragoon.

I have seen Silent Bob he said Jay was sleeping (this is on Leviathan). Also I saw a Galka named Bobby Brown I thought that was funny as hell. I don't ge to into the names of characters I just want them to be easy to spell and remember.

I'm on the shiva server and I've seen lots of strange names, our LS actually makes a game of it to see who sees the strangest name each night, lol. I don't remember all of them but I've seen

On Garuda, there is a female Elvaan named Parishilton.
Additionally, there is a player named "Himself", and when enemies attack, the log reads "Orcish grappler hits Himself for 2 damage", and, well, you get the idea.
However, on a good note, there is a Japanese Tarutaru named "Chilicheese". That absolutely rules.
