As an elvaan summoner you would spend a majority of your in-game time looking for an invite.

no need to exaggerate :p

But then, there's no need for me or others to take you literally either though, is there? ;)

Anyway, I'm sure you do get invites, people love any advanced class really; it's just too bad that many of the people on these boards that are obsessed with min/maxing characters are old EQ vets.

And I'm going to speak out of ignorance here and assume that either Black Mage or White Mage is your best sub-job (probably black since they get mana regeneration sooner and dealing damage in addition to what your avatar may do or when your avatar is not out could be a big plus for your class).

I would say to go with your Red Mage but they get less mana (it isn't much though but from what I read about summoners every little bit helps). But then some of the spells red mages get can be very helpful as well.

It's out of ignorance, but unlike that last person I hope it at least helps make your decision easier.

Actually im not exaggerating, me and my roomie (whm) get invites at the same time we then tend to look for groups with 2 openings, and thanks for the subjob info.

Im sorry to the starter of this thread, as my post will be completely off topic. To the person who decided to post "you will spend most of your time looking for invites", Shut up. Every time someone does something that isn't exactly like everyone else you and all the other #$^&ing perfectionists decide to tell them "You suck for doing something out of the normal and playing the game the way you want instead of doing what everyone else does to be the "strongest" in the game". Im so tired of your stupid self-centered attitudes, if you have nothing constructive to say, please do me and those of us who are looking for help a favor and keep your stupid comments to yourself. They are not wanted or needed. We all understand that our originality may not end up with us being the "absolute most powerful" character in the game, that is not the point. All races have the ability to play all classes, thats not to say they will be the best, but they do have that ability, and I personally choose my party based on jobs, not the race. So you can go have fun being an idiot, me and my "unperfect" choices will be whipping your @$$ in the Arena when pvp hits.

So as to be at least slightly on topic, i would suggest a whm sub, I have never been a summoner myself but it seems like you would be most helpful curing while your summon fights.

just because its not taru doent mean it wont work.

and the reason he probally gets invites is because this class isnt a largly played one but if played right no matter the race its a helpful one.

I played a elvaan BLM to 49
It was hard at first because you are not a taru and most parties look down on you but one i hit kazham i started to be ok....normally getting a bard in party and not worring about mana as much.plus i could take a hit way better then the one shot wonder tarus. at 41 RDm was using refresh and i was fine mana wise.

point is its not the easiest path but it can work just like a summoner that is elvaan. So unless you played one you need to stfu and stop going by hearsay.
