HA ChangesFollow

What do you all think about the HA changes to where they scale based on your level going back several expansions?

I don't know the details of what all is affected yet. I think the HA changes go back to CotF? Correct me if I'm wrong. If that's the case then that's a really terrible decision. I can go on all day about pointing out the hole in that logic.

I purposely waited to get to 110 so I could go back and do progression. I have to box since my playtime is extremely limited and I have multiple afks while doing HAs etc. With the new change it is harder than when it was current. It really feels like the rug was pulled out from under me. Especially after I bought 4 copies of RoS. Being able to kill mobs from earlier content easier has always been a thing in EQ. At this point I don't see a reason to sub three of my 4 accounts and I don't see how i'm going to progress through anything in EQ with my limited playtime. My life is way different than when I started back in 01. Back then I was in a raid guild and could spend hours sitting at the keyboard. Now, RL limits that but I was still having fun and slowly progressing. I haven't logged in since Friday. Sitting in a static zone killing mobs over and over is about as appealing as doing gribbles prepatch. I'm hoping they change things back so I'm not giving up yet.

I haven't been paying attention to this. So if you're 110 and you do an older HA the mobs scale UP to your level?

In Gribbles, the LEVEL of the mobs has always scaled based on your level but the HITPOINTS of the mobs has not. the recent patch changed this and now if you are 106+ you will be fighting mobs that are similar in HP to ROS trash. I can confirm that this change applies to TBM missions also.

very bad move, now I have to level all my toons to 110 + lots of AA's before trying HA's again for a chance to win them.

Not sure what you're asking Bijou. I was bored with gribbles tasks way before the patch but I did one after the patch and it was still boring but the boredom lasted twice as long. progression to finish tbm,eok has stopped for me.

I believe this is a terrible move. I don't understand why they keep messing with little boxers Smiley: mad A guildie with 2 active accounts for years was just saying last night about looking for a new game to play.
I don't understand why they don't make content for all types of players in the last 2 expansions. The last two expansions is for what like 20 % of the player base ? If they want to kill the dead hill heroics make a new grind heroic in RoS where you are saving faction xxx from the sarnak grunts or something. I remember zoning into the broken expansion mirror with a heroic quest giver looking at me. I rush to get my quest to nope not you go do this this a this. Please don't mess with our dopamine fix for our sense of accomplishment for little boxers Smiley: laugh Thank You

Making content scale all the way up is a great idea when done correctly.

This would mean the ability to select what flavor you want, something like:

"Hard" is tuned current and gives rewards to suit.

"Normal" is tuned to original release (so level 65 of PoP era would be different than 65 of OoW era vs. level 65 TSS era tuning) and gives the then-era rewards and the same XP it always gave.

"Easy" is tuned below level to allow any molo character to do the progression. Reward is character flags and task rewards/xp/items specific to the zone but not mob killing XP or farming of drops/coin. Easy would be released some time after the content is new. Easy zones could be linked via tasks that give huge XP (multiple levels worth) for doing the set. Goal is to catch players up and having them see everything. The point isn't to get someone to spend 2 years rolling the one easy version of the zone for XP killing mobs. But, not to remove access to cool things (i.e., some missions in the past had illusion clickies).

The Devs finally responded on the forums and said they are not going to change anything right now but they have read the forums and are having an internal conversation about it. I decided to stop paying right now for my 4 accounts until they decide what direction they are going to go. i can't see paying while I'm waiting especially if they stick with the patch.

I have been constantly impressed with the time, effort and skill DBG's has used in game development, They have elevated customer support to the best it has every been, since the days of calling on the phone.

That being said, I can't imagine a worse decision than to make RETROACTIVE Change to the HA's. One of the constant joys of EQ has always been to go back to an earlier zone with newer equipment and skills. It can be such great fun to tackle Raid Mobs that were so very challenging years ago. I began EQ 9/01 and have evolved into having 23 accounts spanning all servers and all but 2 classes. The very Notion of Making changes, part and parcel to the fiber of the game is a display of Hubris.

Nothing irritates a long time player more than having the games fundamentals ripped out and altered! We play this game because we like it. Player enjoyment of the the flavor of EQ is part of what I expect every time I load on. I understand DBG's putting reason into long overlooked flaws in parts of the game. But this move is the most player unfriendly thing I can possibly think of. Who's idea was it to go back several expansions and change one of the most often used features of the game?? What did you expect the reaction to be?? Was that even considered ??

After all the good work that DBG's has done, the improvements they have brought to the game and the attempts to create interaction between developers and heavy EQ players, this is a HUGE step backward!! Capricious immediately comes to mind. I can't begin to express how insulting and angry this change makes me.

It HA's were thought to need a scaling change then it needed to begin with RoS not all the way back to TBM. You don't fundamentally change a hugely popular function of the game, which has been ingrained for many years and expect anyone not feal like it was shoved down their throat! Again I ask DBG's, to ask themselves: Who's idea was this??? It is a 180 degree change form the forward thinking, player friendly, team-spirit that DBG's has constantly shown.

This is exactly the type of move that will BURN all the Good Will created to date. Fix flaws but DO NOT change the flavor and enjoyment of EQ. The HA's were not flawed or broken! They were attended to with more anticipation for most, than any other feature of the game. To BLOW IT UP is just so self destructive in terms of Customer Service and Goodwill.

I couldn't be more disappointed with DBG's

I can't speak to the HA changes as I think I've never done one.

Having Said That:

Which two classes and why (not)?
