There's a lot of angst on the official boards about "progression ruining live" and comments made back and forth. I believe this is completely pointless and silly.

-EQ players are EQ players.

-Lots of people play both kinds of servers.

-Anyone playing progression is a paid sub.

-Progression would not exist if it didn't make money for the company.

-The majority of inconvenience that has trickled up to live servers is bugs that should have been fixed ages ago. The illusion through doors fix is the recent controversy being blamed on progression.

-Some bad decisions (quest xp nerf comes to mind here) are just bad decisions and not the fault of progression players.

-Some historical bad decisions (defiant armor below level 70 making almost all content worthless) should be a bigger issue than something being tuned globally for an old era. I'm not saying the pet class changes were done correctly, but anyone standing back from their mage should be able to see there was some genuine game-balance issues (to name one example).

-One of the best live server raiding guilds grew up on The Combine progression server. We may see this repeat with Fippy server (they are getting closer to live).

-Phinigel progression server has been a marketplace cash cow for Daybreak. I believe one can very easily make the case that progression is paying for live development rather than stealing.

-If you don't like the live game, don't play it. Same goes for progression. There is no reason to say bad things about the other.

-Opinion is just that. You may think EQ peaked in Velious. Others are justified in thinking The Serpent's Spine is among the best expansions ever.

-It is ridiculous to say "Empires of Kunark sucks" if you haven't played the content.

-piling negativity onto the small dev team is pointless. Lobbying for more devs, more game development makes more sense.

-Remember that the official boards are dominated by by a vocal group of people, most of whom play an extreme amount of EQ, most of whom are hardcore raiders. The official boards are not a reliable pulse of the community.

-There are lots of ways to improve EQ that are good for both progression and live situations.
